A Study on the Improvement of VDR Performance appling the Navigation Dangerousness Evaluation Technology (항해위험도 평가기술을 이용한 VDR 성능 개선에 관한 연구)

  • For the purpose of technological analysis in the marine accidents and their prevention, IMO have made it obligatory to load VDR which is similar to the black box in aircraft. However, in case of body sinkage, capsizing, stranding and plunging which are almost 10% of marine accidents, it is difficult to take out the necessary data from the VDR in order to analyze the cause of them. Therefore, this paper apply the navigation dangerousness evaluation technology to the VDR to improve its performance. And we suggest that the vertical acceleration which is one of the factors for evaluating seakeeping performance of a ship is to be added in the existing VDR record data recommended by IMO.

  • Up to now a lot of the study on ship collision avoidance systems has proceeded actively. However the frequency of ship collision accidents didn't decreased. If there is collision risk in close quarters situation none the less manouvering ship for collision avoidance according to the system, only use of TCPA and DCPA as input factor for collision risk decision is not useful to avoiding collision action. For the recent 5 years by the analysis of first observation distance about approaching ship in domestic collision accidents, nearly $45\%$ of accidents is close first observation less than 2 miles. Therefor it is essential part for safety navigations to study for collision avoidance action in close encounter. In this paper, as foundation study of supporting collision avoidance manoeuvring for navigators, we proposed ship collision avoidance support model in close quarters situation through analysis of collision accidents for effective getting rid of the causes.

  • Storm and flood such as torrential rains and major typhoons has often caused damages on a large scale in Korea and damages from storm and flood have been increasing by climate change and warming. Therefore, it is an essential work to maneuver preemptively against risks and damages from storm and flood by predicting the possibility and scale of the disaster. Generally the research on numerical model based on statistical methods, the KDF model of TCDIS developed by NIDP, for analyzing and predicting disaster risks and damages has been mainstreamed. In this paper, we introduced the model for prediction of damage cost from storm and flood by the neural network algorithm which outstandingly implements the pattern recognition. Also, we compared the performance of the neural network model with that of KDF model of TCDIS. We come to the conclusion that the robustness and accuracy of prediction of damage cost on TCDIS will increase by adapting the neural network model rather than the KDF model.

  • This study presents TabNet, a novel deep learning method, to enhance corporate credit rating accuracy amidst growing financial market uncertainties due to technological advancements. By analyzing data from major Korean stock markets, the research constructs a credit rating prediction model using TabNet. Comparing it with traditional machine learning, TabNet proves superior, achieving a Precision of 0.884 and an F1 score of 0.895. It notably reduces misclassification of high-risk companies as low-risk, emphasizing its potential as a vital tool for financial institutions in credit risk management and decision-making.

  • Gas cylinder cabinets have risks such as cylinder explosion and scattering of debris when a fire occurs. These risks are likely to cause gas spills and cause secondary damage. In order to reduce damage, it is very important to secure the fire resistance performance of the gas cylinder cabinet. In foreign countries, NFPA codes in the United States and EN-14470-2 in Europe stipulate fire resistance test standards for gas cylinder cabinets to protect internal cylinders for a certain period of time in a situation where gas cylinder cabinets are exposed to flames. However, in Korea, only internal pressure performance and airtight performance standards are specified, and the target is limited to piping, and research and regulations for the fire resistance performance of gas cylinder cabinets are insufficient compared to overseas. Therefore, in this study, finite element analysis was used to establish fire resistance standards for domestic gas cylinder cabinets. In the event of a fire, optimal conditions are derived in terms of structure and material.

방사성폐기물 가상 처분장에 대한 성능평가

  • 방사성폐기물 처분장 폐쇄후 처분시설의 성능평가를 수행하기 위해 해안에 위치한 임의의 지역을 가정하여 평가하여 보았다. 성능평가를 위해 영국 AEA Technology가 개발한 확률론적 종합 성능평가 코드인 MASCOT을 이용하였다. 임해지역에 위치한 가상 처분장에 대해 MASCOT을 이용하여 계산하여 본 결과 생태계에서 개인이 받게되는 예상 최대 위험확률은 폐쇄후 4,000년에 9.45$\times$$10^{-7}$yr$^{-1}$로서 이는 성능목표치를 만족할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 가상 처분장에 대해 성능평가를 수행함으로써 향후 방사성폐기물 처분부지가 결정되었을 경우, 결정된 처분부지의 특성에 따른 성능평가 및 환경영향평가를 원활히 수행할 수 있을 것이다.

  • With the rise of green technology, the environmental question causes people’s attention more and more, based on objective of the sustainable development, the green risk has already begun to appear. In the paper the definition of the green risk of construction project is given, it analyzes and identifies the green risk of construction project from three aspects, based on BIM, the relation with green risk was found. Though the relation, the management of green risk was analyzed and we may take some measures to reduce the unnecessary risk and waste.

Smoke Hazard Assessment of Cypress Wood Coated with Boron/Silicon Sol Compounds (붕소/실리콘 졸 화합물로 도포된 편백 목재의 연기유해성 평가)

  • In this study, boron/silicon sol compounds were applied to wood for construction and durable materials, and fire risks were investigated in terms of smoke performance index (SPI), smoke growth index (SGI), and smoke intensity (SI). The compound was synthesized by reacting tetraethoxyorthosilicate with boric acid and boronic acid derivatives. Smoke characteristics were investigated using a cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1) equipment for cypress wood. The fire intensity fixed the external heat flux at 50 kW/㎡. The smoke performance index measured after the combustion reaction increased between 13.4% and 126.7% compared with cypress wood. The fire risk due to the smoke performance index decreased in the order of cypress, phenylboronic acid/silicon sol (PBA/Si), (2-methylpropyl) boronic acid/silicon sol (IBBA/Si), boric acid/silicon sol (BA/Si). The smoke growth index decreased between 12.0% and 57.5% compared to the base specimen. The risk of fire caused by the smoke growth index decreased in the order of cypress, PBA/Si, IBBA/Si, BA/Si. The fire risk due to smoke intensity decreased between 3.2% and 57.8%, and in the order of cypress, PBA/Si, IBBA/Si, BA/Si. COpeak concentrations ranged between 85 and 93 ppm, and decreased between 37% and 43% compared to the base specimen. A comprehensive assessment of the fire risk on smoke hazards decreased in the order of cypress, PBA/Si, IBBA/Si, BA/Si.

Development of LiDAR-Based MRM Algorithm for LKS System (LKS 시스템을 위한 라이다 기반 MRM 알고리즘 개발)

  • The LIDAR sensor, which provides higher cognitive performance than cameras and radar, is difficult to apply to ADAS or autonomous driving because of its high price. On the other hand, as the price is decreasing rapidly, expectations are rising to improve existing autonomous driving functions by taking advantage of the LIDAR sensor. In level 3 autonomous vehicles, when a dangerous situation in the cognitive module occurs due to a sensor defect or sensor limit, the driver must take control of the vehicle for manual driving. If the driver does not respond to the request, the system must automatically kick in and implement a minimum risk maneuver to maintain the risk within a tolerable level. In this study, based on this background, a LIDAR-based LKS MRM algorithm was developed for the case when the normal operation of LKS was not possible due to troubles in the cognitive system. From point cloud data collected by LIDAR, the algorithm generates the trajectory of the vehicle in front through object clustering and converts it to the target waypoints of its own. Hence, if the camera-based LKS is not operating normally, LIDAR-based path tracking control is performed as MRM. The HAZOP method was used to identify the risk sources in the LKS cognitive systems. B, and based on this, test scenarios were derived and used in the validation process by simulation. The simulation results indicated that the LIDAR-based LKS MRM algorithm of this study prevents lane departure in dangerous situations caused by various problems or difficulties in the LKS cognitive systems and could prevent possible traffic accidents.
