Compression Test for Prefabricated Composite Columns Using High-Strength Steel Angles (고강도 앵글을 적용한 선조립 합성기둥의 압축 실험)

  • In this study, prefabricated composite columns using high-strength angles (PSRC composite column) was studied. Concentric axial loading tests were performed for 2/3 scale PSRC specimens and an conventional SRC specimen with H-steel at the center of the cross-section. The test parameters were the steel ratio of angles and the spacing of lateral re-bars. The test results showed that by placing the angles at the corners of the cross-section for confinement with provided for the core concrete, the PSRC column specimens exhibited greater load-carrying capacity and deformation capacity than those of the conventional SRC column. The axial load-carrying capacity of the PSRC columns was greater than the prediction by KBC 2009. Using existing stress-strain relationship of confined concrete, the axial load-deformation relationship of the specimens were predicted. The numerical predictions correlated well with the test results in terms of initial stiffness, load-carrying capacity, and post-peak strength- and stiffness-degradations.

  • Generally, structural plates under axial compression should be stiffened by longitudinal stiffeners in order to enhance the buckling strength. Though U-shaped ribs would be more efficient for the stiffened plate system, there is in the absence of a proper design guides or relevant research results. Thus this study is aimed to examine the local buckling behavior of stiffened plates with U-section ribs. 3-dimensional analysis models which include 3 types of U-shaped longitudinal stiffeners were simulated by using the finite element code ABAQUS. The bifurcation analysis were conducted and then the buckling analysis results are compared with the theoretical equation values. It is found that the rotational constraint effect provided by the U-ribs should increase the local buckling strength. Some features drawn from a series of parametric study results are summarized.

  • Part I of this study analyzed the effects of tilting pad bearing designs to reduce the stiffness of the bearings used in a process high-speed lightweight centrifugal compressor intended for a domestic refinery use. This was done in an attempt to enhance the robustness of its rotordynamic stability against possible aerodynamic cross-coupled stiffness. The bearing design variables reviewed were the clearances, LBPs, LOPs, and preloads. The results showed that there was practically no difference between the LBP and LOP designs in terms of the bearing stiffness, because the compressor rotor was lightweight and the bearings had relatively high preloads. Increasing both the machined and assembled clearances in bearing designs has resulted in the bearing stiffness being greatly reduced. In addition, it has been confirmed that an additional reduction in the bearing stiffness can be obtained for given fixed machined clearances by decreasing the preloads, i.e., by increasing the assembled clearances.

  • 본 연구는 지하수를 생활용수로 활용하기 위한 시설물로 검토되고 있는 지하댐을 건설함에 있어 유력한 공법으로 제안되고 있는 SCW(Soil Cement Wall) 차수벽 설계지침을 마련하기 위하여 수행된 시험결과이다. 실험을 통해 SCW 각 혼합재료의 함유율에 따른 일축압축강도와 차수벽체의 강성을 나타내는 평균탄성계수를 산정하였으며, 혼합재료의 함유율과 양생조건을 조절하면 지하댐과 같은 구조물에 최적의 조건이라고 할 수 있는 고강도 저강성 벽체의 구현이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다.

  • 제조 기술의 고도화가 이루어진 현 시점에서, 제품의 설계방식도 단순구조설계가 아닌 최적설계를 통해 제품의 경제성과 안정성을 동시에 획득하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 인장, 압축, 비틀림과 같은 다양한 힘을 받는 자전거의 크랭크 암에 대해 최적 설계를 진행하였고, EDISON의 Plastic Deformation with Damage Mechanism Analysis SW 프로그램을 통해 유한 요소 해석을 수행했다. 해석은 크랭크암 내부에 응력 값이 가장 높은 $90^{\circ}$를 경계조건으로 표면 응력을 고려한 구조, 내부 응력을 고려한 구조, 트러스를 적용한 구조와 MATLAB을 통해 위상최적화 후 추가적으로 형상을 최적화한 구조를 설계했다. 끝으로 경제성과 안정성을 판단하는 기준으로 각각의 질량 대비 강성을 확인하여 최적의 형상을 제시하였다.

A Study on the Development of Plastic Floater for Solar Power Plant on a Body of Water (수상 태양광 발전을 위한 플라스틱 부유체 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, a floater was developed for a frame-type solar power plant. The floater supports the frame and the solar panels. A finite element analysis was performed to design its shape and thickness, and the floater was manufactured by a rotational molding method using linear low-density polyethylene. It was found that the floater did not cause collapse and it maintained its stiffness even at 4 times the maximum load of 322.7 kgf. To perform a long-term compression test, a weight-type load application device that uses gravity was designed and manufactured. The amount of compressive deformation was measured for 7 days, and a long-term deformation equation was obtained. Even under small loads, continuous deformation was observed. However, the 10-year deformation amount for a constant load of 100 kgf was predicted to be small at about 4.64 mm. As a result, it was found that the developed floater could be used in a solar power plant on a body of water.

Optimum Structural Design of Space truss with consideration in Snap-through buckling (뜀-좌굴을 고려한 공간 트러스의 최적구조설계에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the optimum structural design of space truss considering global buckling, and is to obtain the minimal weight of the structure. The mathematical programming method is used for optimization of each member by member force. Besides, dynamic programming method is adapted for consideration in snap-through buckling. The mathematical modeling for optimum design of truss members consists of objective function of total weight and constrain equations of allowable tensile (or compressive) stress and slenderness. The tangential stiffness matrix is examined to find the critical point on equilibrium path, and a ratio of the buckling load to design load is reflected in iteration procedures of dynamic programming method to adjust the stiffness of space truss. The star dome is examined to verify the proposed optimum design processor. The numerical results of the model are conversed well and satisfied all constrains. This processor is a relatively simple method to carry out optimum design with consideration in global buckling, and is viable in practice with respect to structural design.

A FEM analysis on the Bond Properties of High Strength Concrete (고강도콘크리트의 부착특성에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • 고강도콘크리트의 역학적 특성은 그 압축강도의 증가 이외에도 여러 가지 변화를 갖게 된다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 여러 특성의 변화 중 철근과의 부착특성에 관한 해석적 접근을 통하여 고강도콘크리트부재의 부착설계를 위한 이론적인 접근을 시도하였다. 해석의 변수로는 콘크리트의 압축강도, 부착길이 및 피복두께 등 3가지의 변수를 선정하였으며, 해석의 목적은 본 연구에 앞서 실시된 실험의 결과를 예측할 수 있는 단순화된 모델을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 부착실험의 결과를 해석적으로 분석하도록 하였다. 이에 따라 사용된모델은 실험에서 사용한 보단부형 부착시험체의철근과 콘크리트 부착부분의 기하학적 형상을 비교적 실제와 유사하게 모델링시킨 2차원의 평면모델을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 주요결과를 살펴보면 고강도콘크리트의 부착강도는 콘크리트의 피복두께에는 선형으로 비례하게 되나 부착길에는 비례하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결고는 기존의 실험결과와도일치하고있으며, 그 원인은 콘크리트의 강성증가에 따라 하중단측에 응력이 집중됨으로써 보통강도콘크리트의 경우와 같이 응력의 균등한 배분을 기대할 수 없기 때문으로 나타났다.

Experimental Study for Ultimate Behavior of Steel Cable Stayed Bridge Under Construction (실험을 통한 시공 중 강사장교의 극한거동 연구)

  • The girders of cable stayed bridge are subjected to not only the bending moments but also additional compressive axial forces due to the horizontal components of cable forces. Because of these axial forces, the stiffness of girder can be decreased, and this problem should be considered especially for under-construction model rather than the full model. Korean domestic design specification suggests the linear elastic eigen value analysis for the stability problem of cable stayed bridges. However, this method cannot be applied to the under construction model because various geometric nonlinear characteristics cannot be considered. Therefore, in this study, 3 models which are assumed to be constructed by balanced cantilever will be considered experimentally and analytically to analyze the behavior of steel cable stayed bridges.

The Buckling Characteristics of Single-Layer Lamella Domes according to the Joint Flexibility under Construction (단층라멜라 돔의 시공 중 접합부 강성에 따른 좌굴특성)

  • Single-layer latticed domes with rigid-joint have an advantage in the construction cost and the aesthetic. But, in single-layer latticed domes, the joints are hard to discriminate between pin-joint and rigid-joint, and consisted of semi-rigid joint in practical. And the erection of large roof structures requires special techniques. As one of these special techniques is the Step-Up erection method. This paper verified buckling characteristics of single-Layer lamella domes according to the Joint flexibility under construction by Step-up method. The results are follows: As erection steps increase, the buckling strength decreases. It is occurred the joint buckling by snap through on the top of dome when the joint flexibility close the rigid. And large tensile stress distribution appeared in circumferential member of bottom boundary when the step of construction is low. As the step of construction increase, large compressive stress distribution showed in the top of dome.
