An Analytical Study on Flexural Behaviors of CFT Girder (CFT 거더의 휨 거동 평가를 위한 해석적 연구)

  • CFT가 갖는 다양한 구조적 이점으로 인해, 축력이 지배적인 기둥 구조물에만 주로 적용되던 CFT 요소가 점차 거더에 적용되어 가고 있다. 그러나, 현재 CFT 요소에 대한 설계 기준은 축력이 지배적인 보-기둥 구조물에 대한 것으로 제한되어 있으며, 휨이 지배적인 보 구조물에 대한 현행 설계 기준의 적용성을 검토해야 할 필요가 있다. 현행 설계기준에서 제시하고 있는 CFT 요소의 극한 강도 평가방법은 소성응력분배법 및 변형률적합법으로 구분되어지며, 각 방법을 이용한 극한 강도의 평가결과를 기존 연구자들의 CFT 요소 휨 실험결과와 비교 분석하였다. 휨 강성 평가에 대한 타당성을 검증하기 위해 AISC에서 제시하는 휨 강성 평가식을 기존 실험 연구와 비교 검토하였으며, 아울러 압축력에 따라 휨 강성을 보정할 수 있도록 수정된 Roeder et al.의 제안식을 함께 검토하였다. 검토 결과, 강도 평가에 있어서는 설계 기준에서 제안하는 두 방법 모두 CFT 거더의 휨 강도를 적절히 평가할 수 있었으며, 강성 평가에 있어서는 설계 기준의 제안식이 휨 초기 강성을 적절히 평가하는 반면 사용 단계에서의 휨 강성은 Roeder et al.의 수정된 강성 평가식에 의해 적절히 평가할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

National Highway's Design Criteria Based on Analysis of Functional Classification (일반국도의 수행 기능 분석에 의한 적정 설계기준 연구)

  • This study shows that a functional order relationship of national highways in rural areas, which provides the functional system as a principal and minor arterial highways, can be established by the use of statististics. As a result, the adequate functional design criteria of those highways are proposed on the basis of the traffic characteristics in those areas. According to those statistical studies, a function of national highways in the national road network is proved to form three categories broadly. Especially, the survey results based on the traffic characteristics on each road sections show that the initially constructed national highways can not provide an adequate functional role as the arterial highways in the studied areas. In order to operate the intended national highways functionally as the arterial highways, the functional design criteria of highways and the standard order of highway facilities based on the design traffic speed should be considered as an alternative.

Parametric Study on design Variables of Rectangular Concrete Filled Tubular Columns with High-Strength Steel (유한요소해석에 의한 고강도 강재를 사용한 각형 콘크리트 충전 강관 기둥의 설계인자 분석)

  • For the safe design of steel-concrete composite structure, usable yield strength of steels are limited in most of design standard. However, this limitation sometimes cause the uneconomical design for some kind of members such as slender columns which was affected by elastic buckling load. For the economical design for slender columns, parametric study of RCFT (Rectangular CFT) with high-strength steel is conducted, especially investigating the limitation of yield strength of high-strength steels. Using ABAQUS, finite element analysis program, the finite element model was constructed and calibrated with experimental study for RCFT with high strength steel which have yield strength up to 680MPa. Investigated design parameters are yield strength of steel, compressive strength of concrete, steel thickness and slenderness ratio. The effect of design parameters were compared with design standard, KBC-09. From the parametric study with 54 models and previous test specimens, RCFT can be safely design with higher yield strength of steels than currently limited by KBC for large range of slenderness ratio.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm to design the adaptive structure of wavelet neural network with F-projection and geometric growing criterion. Geometric growing criterion consists of estimated error criterion considering local error and angle criterion which attempts to assign a wavelet function that is nearly orthogonal to all other existing wavelet functions. These criteria provide a methodology that a network designer can construct wavelet neural network according to one's intention. We apply the proposed constructing algorithm of the adaptive structure of wavelet neural network to approximation problems of 1-D and 2-D function, and evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide general principles to be used in designing university websites from the perspective of information architecture. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation criteria of web sites were developed based on information architecture principles. The students taking IA class were directly involved in constructing the evaluation criteria and they can be classified into four categories: 1) information organization; 2) navigation system; 3) labeling system; and searching system. These criteria were employed in evaluating twenty randomly selected university websites in Korea. General principles to be used in designing university websites were developed based on the findings of the study. They are composed of four major components in designing: 1) systematic information organization; 2) flexible navigation system; 3) consistent labeling system; and 4) efficient searching system.

  • In general, deflection limit criteria of bridge design specifications have been considered based on static serviceability and structural stability. Dynamic serviceability induced from bridge vibration actually has not been included in the criteria. Thus, it is necessary for deflection limit to be considered in order to check dynamic service- ability on bridge vibration. In this study, The allowable displacement of Korea Railway Bridge Design Specifications is compared to the frequency domain comfort limit and analyzed france code and japanese code. Korea Railway Bridge Design Specifications is regulated based on the train speed. Such is because the vibration time duration is partly considered. but this criteria is not satisfied with comfort limit. and, it is estimated to be capable to provide deflection limit considering dynamic serviceability. In order to evaluate the dynamic serviceability of various types of railway bridges in current public were selected and their dynamic signals were measured. and the result of the bridge-train interaction analysis according to the changes in bridge stiffness was compared to the comfort limit to suggest the stiff-ness limit to the dynamic serviceability, which should conveniently be applied at the field.

  • Performance-oriented design has been introduced in fire protection design, and various efforts have been made to minimize the damage caused by fire in the design stage. We conducted a study to provide information for reasonable design factors using a Fire Dynamic Simulation code provided by the NIST on boundary width and amount of supply. This paper shows that using a living-room air-supply system in a large space and dividing the space by a ventilation boundary are the two factors that are considered to have the greatest influence on the design of the living room ventilation. The results show that for performance-based design, the width of the ventilation boundary is designed to be the maximum limit in the initial design. It is judged that reasonable air volume determination should be made through various methods.

  • The appropriateness of railway route design is generally evaluated by the future value corresponding to the travel demand or benefit-cost analysis. These methods may have the limitation for the reasons that all the design alternatives cannot be considered, and the differentiation between the alternatives may not be significant because the alternatives are based on the strict basic scheme such as the design criteria. In addition, the cost varies by the design elements. In this study, all the design alternatives are considered with the automatized tool and the design criteria, and evaluated with the multi-criterion decision making method. The weight for each design element with the analytic hierarchical process may be helpful to derive more efficient railway alignment.
