Reliability Analysis of Arcing Measurement System Between Pantograph and Contact Wire (팬터그래프-전차선간 아크 검측 장치의 신뢰성 분석)

  • The current collection between pantograph and contact wire is a more critical component for need to train speed up in electric railway. The basic purpose of this paper is to establish a measure of determining arc by developing an arc detector assessment system. The system was designed under conditions of EN 50317 and simulations were conducted using the developed device. According to the results, it was possible to conduct certification tests following regulations of international standards. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we analysis contact loss of catenary system using developed arcing measurement system in Korea. The proposed arcing measurement system is expected to enhance precision of current collection quality performance assessment methods at high-speed lines and conventional lines.

  • With increasing interest in the reduction of cost for operation and maintenance of overhead catenary system, various methods of condition monitoring have been developed. In this paper, we proposed network-based telemetry system for condition monitoring in railway and acquired data from any kind of sensor in catenary line and structure at high voltage. This development gives the solution for online condition monitoring in railway. To check the validity of our approach in terms of application, we realized network-based telemetry System.

  • The measurement of contact wire wear in electric railways is one of the key test parameters to increase speed and maintain safety in electric railways. Wear caused by continuous interaction between pantographs and contact wires has a negative effect on current collection quality and severely damaged contact wires might cause hazardous accidents. This paper introduces a non-contact optical-based contact wire wear measuring system that will replace conventional wear detecting methods conducted by maintenance vehicles or workers. The system is implemented by high-speed cameras that can collect images of contact wires during vehicle operation, a laser used to create images profile of the contact wire surface, and a computer used to process the collected images. The proposed system is designed to assist maintenance of overhead contact lines by creating geometrically plotted images of contact wires to detect contact wire wear during operation on conventional lines or high-speed lines.

  • 우리나라 대형 건설시장의 하나인 터널 시공은 계획 대비 많은 물량과 자재의 소모로 인해 이들 정보의 지속적 관리를 통한 정확한 물량 및 자재 산출 정보 예측에 대한 관심이 꾸준히 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 대부분의 시공현장에서는 굴진의 정확도 검측을 위해 광파기를 사용하고 있다. 광파기는 공사 초기 시부터 유지된 원점으로부터의 정확한 좌표를 사용하고 있어 취득된 정보는 신뢰할 수 있으나, 몇 개의 기준점을 측량하여 굴진방향 및 공사의 진척도를 평가하는 방식이므로, 전체적인 면을 측정하지 못한다는 단점이 있다. 이에 반하여 3차원 스캐너는 제원에 따른 반경 내의 모든 점들을 계측하여 그 정보를 선이 아닌 면으로써 파악하지만 위치에 대한 정확도를 포함할 수 없다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위하여, 광파기와 3차원 스캐너를 동시 활용하는 본 시스템은 현장에서 소모된 자원의 정확한 양을 체크하여 굴진정도를 파악하여 공사의 전반적인 진도를 관리할 수 있다. 또한 여굴의 발생 여부를 직접 확인하고 계획대비 소모된 물량정보를 통해 자재관리를 할 수 있게 된다. 마지막으로 추후 발생할 수 있는 하자에 대한 정확한 근거를 제시하여 균열 및 누수 등에 대한 정확한 원인 파악을 제공할 수 있다는 장점들을 제공한다.

Development of an Arc Detector Assessment System by Loss of Contact Between Pantograph and Contact Wire in Electric Railway (전기철도 팬터그래프-전차선간 이선아크 검측 평가 기술 개발)

  • The objective of this paper is to discuss technologies on assessing reliability of arc detectors by composing a system that generates and simulates occurrence of arc caused by loss of contact between pantographs and contact wires in a laboratory condition. In order to establish the arc simulator, a device that generates light having the bandwidth of arcs that occur between carbon-metal. The simulator was designed under conditions of EN 50317 and simulations were conducted using the developed device. According to the results, it was possible to conduct certification tests following regulations of international standards and the precision of the simulator was satisfactory. The proposed arc detector assessment system is expected to enhance precision of current collection quality performance assessment methods at high-speed lines and conventional lines while being referred as fundamental technologies for development of detectors suiting international conditions.

  • This paper describes a simple real-time monitoring system for use in measurement subsystem of contact wire and geometry of overhead contact wire in electric railway. The system has been consists of a high speed CMOS camera with resolution $1024\;{\times}\;1280$ pixels, line type laser source with a power equal to 300 mW, and PC-based image acquisition system with PCI Express slot. National instrument LabVIEW (8.0) and vision acquisition software have been used in application programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling of 500 acquisitions per second.

  • The measurement of contact wire uplift in electric railways is one of the most important test parameters to accepting the maximum permitted speed of new electric vehicles and pantographs. The contact wire uplift can be measured over short periods when the pantograph passes monitoring stations. In this paper, a high-speed image measurement system and its image processing method are being developed to evaluate dynamic uplift of overhead contact wires caused by pantograph contact forces of Korea Tilting Train eXpress (TTX) and Korea Train eXpress (KTX). The image measurement system was implemented utilizing a high-speed CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) camera and gigabit ethernet LAN. Unlike previous systems, the uplift measurement system using high speed camera is installed on the side of the rail, making maintenance convenient. On-field verification of the uplift measurement system for overhead contact wire using high speed camera was conducted by measuring uplift of the TTX followed by operation speeds at the Honam conventional line and high-speed railway line. The proposed high-speed image measurement system to evaluate dynamic uplift of overhead contact wires shows promising on-field applications for high speed trains such as KTX and TTX.

  • We propose an optical-based measuring instrument of catenary system in electric railway. This system was made to utilize line scan camera as inspecting system to measure the stagger and height of overhead contact wire in railway and composed with optical type source and FPGA-based image acquisition system with PCI slot. Vision acquisition software has been used for the application to programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling. The proposed optical-based measuring instrument to measure the contact wire geometry shows promising on-field applications for online condition motoring. Also, this system can be applied to measure the hight and stagger or other geometry of different type of overhead catenary system.

Study on the Maintenance Cost of Railway Infrastructure Using Line Classification and TMV Data (선로등급 및 검측차 검측정보를 고려한 철도시설 유지보수비용 산정에 관한 연구)

  • During the feasibility study of new rail lines, maintenance cost of railway infrastructure has mostly been estimated based on the track length and on simplified parameters; however, the estimation reliability can be improved by employing the correction factor from UIC 715, as well as the line classification in UIC 714. The correlations between maintenance cost and various parameters such as weighted track length based on line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn -out rate have been analyzed according to the case studies. Prediction of the maintenance cost has been carried out using the cost data, which were representative of the whole cost data; as a result, it was demonstrated that a cost model based on the line classification and the correction factor was more reliable than the existing models. Furthermore, possibilities of using data from both the track measurement vehicle and from the maintenance information system, which are under development, have been investigated and, based on this investigation, a combined cost model using line classification, radius of curvature, gradient and worn-out rate, among other factors, will be proposed in the near future.

  • 최근 의료산업에서는 고해상도 및 동영상 구현이 가능한 직접 방식의 X-선 검측센서에서 X-ray 흡수효율이 좋은 반도체 센서(CdTe, CdZnTe 등)와 성숙된 기술, 집적효율이 뛰어난 CMOS 공정을 이용한 제품을 출시하여 대면적화 및 고집적화가 가능하게 되어 응용분야가 점차 확대되고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 이 역시 고 성능의 X-선 동영상 구현을 위해서는 고 해상도 문제, 검출효율 문제, 대면적화의 어려움이 있다. 기존의 X-선 광 도전층의 증착은 증착 속도와 박막 품질에서 우수한 Evaporation 법이 사용되고 있다. 한편, 대면적에 균일한 박막형성이 가능하기 때문에 양산성에서 우월성을 가지는 sputtering법의 경우, 밀도가 높은 소결체 타겟의 제조가 힘들뿐만 아니라 증착 속도가 낮아 장시간 증착 시 낮은 소결밀도로 인한 타겟 Particle 영향으로 인해서 대 면적에 고품질의 박막을 형성하기가 어렵다. 하지만 최근 소결체 타겟 제조기술 발달과 함께, 대면적화와 장시간 증착에 대한 어려움이 해결되고 있어 sputtering 법을 이용한 고품질 박막 제조 기술의 연구가 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 $50{\times}50$ mm 크기의 non-alkali 유리기판(Corning E2000) 위에 Evaporation과 RF magnetron sputtering을 사용하여 다양한 기판온도 (RT, 100, 200, 300, $350^{\circ}C$)에서 $1{\mu}m$의 두께로 CdTe 박막을 증착하였다. RF magnetron sputtering의 경우 CdTe 단일 타겟(50:50 at%)을 사용하였으며 Base pressure는 약 $5{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr 이하까지 배기하였고, Working pressure는 약 $7.5{\times}10^{-3}$ Torr에서 증착하였다. 시편과 기판 사이의 거리는 70 mm이며 RF 파워는 150 W로 유지하였다. CdTe 박막의 미세구조는 X-ray diffraction (XRD, BRUKER GADDS) 및 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM, Hitachi)를 사용하여 측정하였다. 또한, 조건별 박막의 조성은 Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS, Horiba, 7395-H)을 사용하여 평가하였다. X-선 동영상 장치의 구현을 위해서는 CdTe 다결정 박막의 높은 흡수효율, 전하수집효율 및 SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) 등의 물성이 요구된다. 이러한 물성을 나타내기 위해서는 CdTe 박막의 높은 결정성이 중요하다. Evaporation과 RF magnetron sputtering로 제작된 CdTe 박막은 공정 온도가 증가함에 따라 기판상에 도달하는 스퍼터 원자의 에너지 증가로 인해서 결정립이 성장한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 CdTe 박막이 직접변환방식 고감도 X-ray 검출기 광도 전층 역할을 수행할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
