Numerical Study of Flow Characteristics in a Solid Particle Incinerator for Various Design Parameters of Injectors (고체 입자 소각로에서 분사기의 설계 인자에 따른 유동 특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • The flow characteristics in a solid particle incinerator are investigated numerically for high burning rate of wastes. The studied incinerator employs both a swirl flow used in the furnace of powerplants and a design concept applied to a rocket combustor. As the first step, the non-reactive flow field is analyzed in the incinerator with primary and secondary injectors through which solid fuel and air are injected. The deflection angle of a primary injector, inclination angle of a secondary injector, and gap between the two types of injectors are selected as design parameters. The swirl number is adopted for evaluating the degree of swirl flow and estimated over wide ranges of three parameters. The swirl number increases with deflection angle, but it is affected little by inclination angle. Recirculation zones are formed near the injectors, and their size affects the swirl number. The swirl number decreases with the zonal size of recirculation. From the numerical results, the design points can be found with strong swirl flow.

A Study on the Maneuverabilities of the Training ship M.S. A-RA (실습선 아라호(M.S. A-RA)의 조종성능에 관한 연구)

  • The for this study, turning circle tests and maneuvering indices were conducted to study and evaluate the maneuverabilities of the fishery training ship M.S. A-RA(G/T : 990tons). The results obtained were summarized as follows : 1. The advances of the starboard and port of the turning circle were measured based on the dumb card test method were 198m, 192m, the size of tactical diameters of them were 194m, 188m, respectively. 2. The advances at the starboard and port of the turning circles were measured according to the DGPS positioning obtained 196m, 194m, the size of tactical diameters of them were 194m, 190m, respectively. 3. The results were compared which came from the sizes of turning circle measured up with the dumb card test method during the trial test and from the size of turning circle measured according to the DGPS positioning. The advance of the turning circle measured at the time of the starboard turning according to the DGPS positioning was 1m longer than that of the trial test. And it was 21m shorter at the time of the port turning. 4. The rudder was steered at $35^{\circ}$ of rudder angle each starboard and port while the ship M.S. A-RA was advancing at full speed of 13 k't. The velocity of the ship was reduced to 7.8 k't at $180^{\circ}$ of turning angle and 6.0 k't at $360^{\circ}$ of turning angle and mean values of turning angular velocity of the port and starboard were $2.4^{\circ}$/sec and $2.3^{\circ}$/sec, respectively. 5. The Z test at each $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$, and $30^{\circ}$ of rudder angle was carried out to have the maneuvering indices K and T measured. K for the each rudder angle were 1.24, 1.45, and 1.65 while T for the each rudder angle were 0.33, 0.20, and 0.14. That is, K at the Z test at $30^{\circ}$ was greater than at the Z test of $10^{\circ}$ and $20^{\circ}$ while T at the $30^{\circ}$ Z test was less than at the Z test of $10^{\circ}$ and 20.

  • Turbulent swirling cold-flow in a cyclonic gasifier has been analyzed by numerical analysis. Comparison of two dimensional and three dimensional analyses has shown that concept of equivalent slit is appropriate for the two dimensionalization of three dimensional phenomena. Flow characteristics have been scrutinized by varying swirl number which is a crucial parameter in determining the flow pattern of the cyclonic gasifier. Reactive flow field has been estimated by using theoretical swirl number and equivalent slit width for reactive flow. Results show that proper flow field for the reactive coal gasification can be formed by controlling the exit area and azimuthal location of coal burners.

Robust Slewing Control of A Flexible Space Structure using Sliding Surface (슬라이딩 평면을 이용한 유연우주비행체의 강인 선회제어)

  • This paper presents a robust slewing control of a flexible space structure based on sliding surface design. A sliding surface is designed for a single-axis rest-to-rest slewing in view of target angle, target angular velocity, and root monent of the flexible appendage. In comparison with the Lypunov control law, both controllers guarantee the stability and command tracking capabilities for nominal system. It is also shown that the designed control law provides further robustness to internal/external uncertainties. Extending the results of a single-axis maneuver, a sliding mode control law was sought for an arbitrary three-axis maneuver. Quaternion was used to determine the attitude of a space structure and sliding surfaces were designed for each axis, thereby a robust control law was derived considering the coupling effects between each rotational axis during the maneuver. Several numerical examples were demonstrated to show the effectiveness of the designed control law.

Development of Way-points Generation Algorithm for Autonomous Tractor (자율주행 트랙터의 경로점 생성 알고리즘 개발)

  • 본 연구에서는 농작업지내 모서리 점을 이용하여 자율주행 트랙터의 경로점을 생성하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 작업지는 직사각형의 형태에서 거리가 긴 방향으로 직선주행 경로로 하고, 직선경로의 수는 작업폭에 의해 결정되며 홀수 또는 짝수 개일 수 있다. 또한 TM좌표계에서 직선주행 경로의 기울기는 양수 또는 음수 일 수 있으며, 선회시 전체적으로 좌회전 또는 우회전하는 경우로 구분하여, 즉 총 8가지의 경우에 대하여 조건이 주어지면 경로점을 구할 수 있도록 프로그램하였다. 선회를 위한 곡선경로 생성에는 트랙터의 최소 회전반경 데이터를 사용하였으며, 이때 새로 진입할 다음 경로가 충분히 떨어져 있는 경우에는 선회 구간에서도 직선 경로 구간이 생길 수 있음을 고려하였다. 한 주기의 경로점은 직선 경로 구간의 시작점과 끝점, 선회 구간의 시작점과 끝점, 다음 직선경로로 진입을 위해 선회하기 직전까지의 직선 구간에 대한 시작점과 끝점 등 6가지의 경우로 구분할 수 있다. 이때 어떤 끝점 경로점은 다음 조작 구간의 시작점 경로점이 되므로 최종적인 경로점 데이터는 4개가 된다. 여기서, 첫 번째 경로점 생성에서는 직선구간 진입을 위한 선회구간의 시작점과 끝점은 제외하였으며, 작업지로 진입할 수 있는 입구와 출구는 동일한 것으로 가정하여, 작업이 완료되는 지점에서 선회하여 다시 출발점으로 돌아올 수 있도록 추가 구성하였다. 실제 상황에서는 직선주행 경로의 수가 정수가 되지 않을 수 있으며, 이때는 작업 구간이 약간씩 오버랩되도록 작업폭을 조정하여 경로의 수가 항상 정수가 되도록 하였다. 알고리즘 평가에 사용된 작업 패턴은 관행적인 방법으로서 작업 포장을 반으로 나누어 8자형 패턴을 이용하였다.

The Effect of Swirl on the Structure of Concentric Laminar Jet Diffusion Flame (동축분류 층류제트 확산화염의 구조에 미치는 선회의 영향)

  • In order to predict the effect of swirl on the structure of concentric laminar jet diffusion flame, present study examined the effect of swirl on the flame characteristics by numerical numerical analysis through theoretical model. The theoretical model has been developed for the co-axial laminar jet flame such that the fuel and air are supplying with swirl through inner and outer co-axial tube respectively. For the parametric study, swirl number, Reynolds number of fuel and air and directions of swirl are chosen as important parametes. The results of study show that the flame with width and shorter length is formed by larger swirl number. The important factor of the flame shape is the recirculating zone formed around jet axis near the exit of nozzle. In case of weak swirl, the effect of directions of swirl is not appeared. However, for the strong swirl, the flame with shorter length are appeared in case of counter-swirl compared with the case of co-swirl.

Skeg이 부선의 선회운동과 예인장력에 미치는 영향

  • 해상에서 예부선이 항행시 부선의 선회운동으로 인하여 예부선의 안전운항에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구에서는 안전한 예항업무를 위하여 실무에서 많이 사용되고 있는 2가지 부선 모델을 대상으로 skeg의 설치 유무 및 skeg의 설치 위치에 의한 부선의 선회운동과 이에 따른 예인장력을 알아보기 위해 정수중에서의 수조실험을 실행하였다. 실험결과 예인삭의 선회각도는 skeg을 설치하지 않았을 때 가장 크게 나타났고, center skeg을 설치했을 때부터 작아지기 시작하여 side skeg을 설치했을 때 예인삭의 선회각도가 급격히 작아지는 것으로 파악되었으며, 이러한 특성은 선수형상에 따라 조금씩 다르게 나타나고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 예인삭의 선회각도가 커질수록 예인장력이 커지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 부선에 skeg을 설치하여 운항하는 것이 부선의 선회 운동을 감소시켜 최종적으로 예인장력이 작아지게 하여 안전예항업무에 도움이 될 것으로 판단된다.

Evaluation of Rutting Performance of Hot Mix Asphalt with Compaction Curve of Gyratory Compactor (선회다짐기 다짐곡선을 이용한 아스팔트 혼합물의 소성변형 특성 평가)

  • For the time being, HMA test specimen were prepared by Marshall Compaction Method for hot mix asphalt design and evaluated the mechanical properties of HMA at the specified air voids. Gyratory Compaction can simulate the field compaction process and measure the degree of compaction just after field compaction in laboratory. Superpave mix design with Gyratory compactor has been used for characterization of performance. The curve of gyratory compaction can be used to evaluate the permanent deformation potential of hot mix asphalt. In this paper, couple of indices for hot mix asphalt have been showed for hot mix asphalt in Korea. The major properties from gyratory compaction curve are compaction energy index and traffic compaction index. The specific guide line for the potential of hot mix asphalt has been proposed.

예부선의 자유항주모형실험을 통한 조종 특성 연구

  • 예선이 부선을 선미 예인하는 상황에서의 예부선 조종특성을 확인하기 위하여, 예부선 통합 자유항주 모형시험을 수행하였다. 기존의 실선시운전에서는 관측하지 못한 부선의 불안정한 거동을 확인하였으며, 브라이들을 이용한 2점 예인 상태로, 우현 10도, 20도, 30도 선회시험을 수행하여 예선과 부선의 선회반경을 측정하였다. 시험수행조건이 다르나, 실선시운전 결과와 비교하여 선회반경이 약 3배 이상 커진 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 부선의 선회궤적이 예선의 선회궤적 안쪽에 존재하는 것도 재확인할 수 있었다.

  • An experimental study is performed on the flow characteristics of a swirl-jet diffuser for factory ventilation. Swirl number ranges from 0(nonswirl jet) to 0.6 when the angle of swirl vane is 60 degree. As swirl becomes strong, the maximum velocity in the plane perpendicular to jet axis decreases fast and the uniformity of velocity becomes good, particularly in the ventilated area. The similarity in velocity profiles has been found for axial velocity from even when swirl number equals 0.6. The flow characteristics of the swirl-jet which has the swirl number of 0.6 is thought to be the best among these three swirl numbers for factory ventilation. However, the pressure drop in the diffuser increases as the swirl becomes strong. This should be considered in the design of the total ventilation system including a duct system.
