Far Distance Face Detection from The Interest Areas Expansion based on User Eye-tracking Information (시선 응시 점 기반의 관심영역 확장을 통한 원 거리 얼굴 검출)

  • Face detection methods using image processing have been proposed in many different ways. Generally, the most widely used method for face detection is an Adaboost that is proposed by Viola and Jones. This method uses Haar-like feature for image learning, and the detection performance depends on the learned images. It is well performed to detect face images within a certain distance range, but if the image is far away from the camera, face images become so small that may not detect them with the pre-learned Haar-like feature of the face image. In this paper, we propose the far distance face detection method that combine the Aadaboost of Viola-Jones with a saliency map and user's attention information. Saliency Map is used to select the candidate face images in the input image, face images are finally detected among the candidated regions using the Adaboost with Haar-like feature learned in advance. And the user's eye-tracking information is used to select the interest regions. When a subject is so far away from the camera that it is difficult to detect the face image, we expand the small eye gaze spot region using linear interpolation method and reuse that as input image and can increase the face image detection performance. We confirmed the proposed model has better results than the conventional Adaboost in terms of face image detection performance and computational time.

  • 현재 우리나라의 전력 산업은 과거 공급자위주의 전력시장에서 점차적으로 수요자 선택권이 확대되고 다양한 형태의 새로운 부가서비스가 개발되는 시장으로 변화하고 있다. 이는 신기술 도입과 융합을 통하여 기존의 전력서비스에 통신기술이 융합된 전력정보기술의 도입으로 가능해진 것이다. 이러한 시장과 기술의 변화를 반영하여 우리나라에서도 광범위한 영역에서 전력 부가서비스에 대한 연구가 시작되고 있다. 다양한 방향으로 진화 가능한 전력부가서비스를 효율적으로 개발하기 위해서는 서비스 제공 대상을 명확하게 하고 소비자의 needs를 파악하는 과정이 필수적이다. 이러한 과정을 통하여 전력부가서비스 사업 초기에 집중적으로 개발, 보급하여야 할 부가서비스를 취사선택할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 대수용가를 대상으로 하는 전력부가서비스의 형태를 파악하고 현재 진행 중인 선행연구를 분석하여 대수용가 전력부가서비스의 개발 방향을 제시하였다.

민영화정책(民營化政策)의 핵심논쟁(核心論爭)에 관한 소고(小考)

  • 현행 민영화정책이 공기업의 효율성제고를 최우선 목표로 설정한 것은 타당한 선택이었음에도 불구하고, 경제력집중 심화에 대한 우려와 주식시장의 제약 등을 이유로 민영화정책은 그 추진실적이 부진하고 향후 지속 여부가 불투명한 것이 현실이다. 본(本) 논문(論文)은 우리나라 공기업민영화를 둘러싼 논쟁의 핵심인 경제력집중(經齊力集中), 경쟁도입(競爭導入), 주식시장여건(株式市場與件) 등이 공기업민영화와 관련하여 어떻게 이해되어야 할 것이며, 바람직한 정책대응(政策對應)은 무엇인지를 논의하고 있다. 재산권이론(財産權理論)을 동원하여 주인(主人) 있는 경영(經營)의 의미를 재해석할 때, 기업지배(企業支配) 통제구조(統制構造)의 정착이 요원한 우리 현실에서 민영화가 기업효율을 제고하려면 민간대주주(民間大株主)의 지배(支配)를 인정하는 방식이 최선책(最善策)이며, 소유가 분산되고 전문경영체제(專門經營體制)를 도입하는 민영화방식은 지배구조(支配構造)의 실패가능성(失敗可能性) 때문에 차선책(次善策)이라고 평가된다. 그러나 효율성 차원의 최선책은 경제력집중이라는 국민경제적 비용을 초래하므로, 정부로서는 경제력 집중이라는 비용(費用)과 효율성이라는 편익(便益)을 조화시키는 방안을 모색할 수밖에 없다. 이 경우 정부가 고려할 보완책(補完策)으로는 감자후(減資後) 민영화(民營化)와 분할민영화(分割民營化)가 있다. 한편 자연독점의 특성이 뚜렷한 일부 네트워크사업분야를 제외하면, 민영화시 경쟁도입(競爭導入)은 기업효율성과 국민경제의 배분효율성을 제고하므로 정부로서는 당연한 선택일 것이다. 경쟁은 공기업의 인수자격규제에 있어서도 새로운 기준을 제시하는데, 민영화를 정부(政府)와 민간(民間)사이의 M&A로 이해하고 경쟁제한적(競爭制限的) 기업결합(企業結合)을 규제하는 공정거래법(公正去來法)의 정신(精神)이 인수자격규제기준이 되어야 하며, 업종전문화(業種專門化) 발상(發想)에 근거한 인수자격규제는 득보(得)다 실(失)이 클 것이다. 아직도 자생적 성장기반이 취약한 주식시장의 제약에 따라 민영화일정의 탄력적인 조정은 불가피하지만, 정부는 상장(上場)의 필요성(必要性)을 재검토하고, 매각(賣却)의 우선순위(優先順位)를 조정하며, 무엇보다도 양질(良質)의 주식(柱式) 공급(供給)이 수요(需要)를 창출하는 메커니즘을 개발해야한다. 이와 함께 본(本) 논문(論文)은 현행 추진체계(推進體系)에 내재된 민영화의 지연가능성이 심각한 문제임을 지적하였고, 대규모 공기업의 민영화가 대기업(大企業)의 새로운 전형(典型)을 창출하여 한국자본주의(韓國資本主義)의 건전한 발전을 앞당기는 역사적 기회라는 점을 강조하고 있다. 마지막으로 재벌인수가 가능한 경우와 규제되어야 할 각각의 경우에 대하여 민영화정책(民營化政策)의 '체크리스트'를 제시하고 있다.

Driver Assistance System for Integration Interpretation of Driver's Gaze and Selective Attention Model (운전자 시선 및 선택적 주의 집중 모델 통합 해석을 통한 운전자 보조 시스템)

  • This paper proposes a system to detect driver's cognitive state by internal and external information of vehicle. The proposed system can measure driver's eye gaze. This is done by concept of information delivery and mutual information measure. For this study, we set up two web-cameras at vehicles to obtain visual information of the driver and front of the vehicle. We propose Gestalt principle based selective attention model to define information quantity of road scene. The saliency map based on gestalt principle is prominently represented by stimulus such as traffic signals. The proposed system assumes driver's cognitive resource allocation on the front scene by gaze analysis and head pose direction information. Then we use several feature algorithms for detecting driver's characteristics in real time. Modified census transform (MCT) based Adaboost is used to detect driver's face and its component whereas POSIT algorithms are used for eye detection and 3D head pose estimation. Experimental results show that the proposed system works well in real environment and confirm its usability.

The Effect of Learning Using Virtual Reality Technology on Learning Motivation (가상현실 기술을 활용한 학습이 학습 동기에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examines the effects of virtual reality learning materials on the learners' learning motivation. For this study, we developed a virtual reality learning material for geological learning that allows observation of the characteristics of rocks in Korean topography that is closely related to learning contents. A 15-hour class was conducted with 91 students using virtual reality learning materials developed for first-year science high school students in D city. ARCS learning motivation strategy was used. Pre-test was conducted before the start of the classes and post-test was conducted after the classes. Statistical processing was analyzed using R-3.5.1 version program. As a result, the utilization of virtual reality learning materials has significant effects on attention concentration, satisfaction, and confidence in the learner's motivation factors. Using virtual reality in geological classes, students' interest in learning activities improve their immersion and concentration, which helps them understand the learning contents better.

  • In this paper I will undertake three tasks: first, to identify the difference between John Rawls's liberal conception of liberty and Will Kymlicka's; second, to briefly examine the problems with liberal conception of liberty; finally, to propose a certain alternative that will be able to make liberal conception of liberty more meaningful In Kymlicka's view, Rawls seems to fail to make the best defence of freedom of choice because he wants to explain of individual freedom on the basis of Kant's moral theory about liberty. Kymlicka thinks that it is not a desirable way of defending liberal conception of liberty. According to his liberal theory, Rawls's defence of freedom of choice might make us think that we should have our freedom of choice for its own sake because freedom is the most valuable in the world. So Kymlicka wants to provide stronger argument to defend freedom of choice in liberalism. He insists that it is our projects and tasks that are most important things in our lives. Furthermore, he argues that we should conceive our freedom of choice as a precondition for pursuing those projects and practices that are valued for our good lives. Now I want to look at two concepts of liberty in liberalism with Rawls's theory and Kymlicaka's. In this paper, I shall look at criticisms of the liberal account of freedom of choice. These would give us a certain chance for understanding true freedom.

Development of Active Stereo Surveillance System with the Human-like Visual Selective Attention (인체의 상향식 선택적 주의 집중 시각 기능을 모방한 능동 스테레오 감시 시스템의 개발)

  • In this paper, we propose an active stereo surveillance system with human-like convergence function. The proposed system uses a bottom-up saliency map model with the human-like selective attention visual function to select an interesting region in each camera. and this system compares the landmarks whether the selective region in each camera finds a same region. If the left and right cameras successfully find a same landmarks, the implemented vision system focuses on the landmark. Using the motor encoder information, we can automatically obtain the depth information and resultantly construct a depth map using the depth information. Computer simulation and experimental results show that the proposed convergence method is very effective to implement the active stereo surveillance system.

A Study on Improvement Direction of Onboarding Process Design for Elevating Early User Experience of Online Games (온라인 게임의 초반 사용자 경험 향상을 위한 진입 과정 디자인 개선 방향 연구)

  • As the game industry is steadily becoming the spotlight industry, the importance of user experience design in game industry is increasing. This study tried to approach game from the viewpoint of user experience design and aimed to analyze the onboarding process focusing on user accessibility and retention in an online game. First, through literature review, onboarding process was devided into three stages. Then each stages were analyzed into experience design, game design elements to derive the key UX factors. Second, based on the UX elements, the game experience and cognitive element analysis frame was presented. With this frame, five domestic online games were qualitatively analyzed and cognitive elements of each game's onboarding process were derived. Key cognitive factors in each stages were, selective attention in the discovery stage, working memory and active learning in the learning stage, and participation and motivation in the immersion stage. Finally, improvement direction were presented, focusing on the key cognitive factors. These studies highlight the importance of the user entry process in online games and suggests improvements to lower entry barriers.

  • 국내의 오이 양액재배기술은 그 역사가 짧을 뿐만 아니라 아직은 학문적인 전문성이나 기술적인 세분화 및 다양화 정도에 있어서 양액재배가 발전된 선진국에 비해 저위 수준에 머물러 있다. 특히, 양액재배 오이는 생육이 빨라 수확시기가 단축되므로 수확기가 단기간에 집중되는 반면, 후기에는 초세가 약화되기 쉬우므로 수확량이 좋지 않은 점이 지적되고 있으며, 저일조ㆍ저온기에 정식되는 작형에서는 과실의 착과율이 저하되는 경우가 많으므로 고형배지경에 있어서 배지의 선택이나 근권온도, 산소 등의 관리에 주의를 기울임과 동시에 정지적엽방법의 개선과 전문적인 요구되는 양액관리기술의 체계적 정립을 통해 오이양액재배시 문제가 되는 조기노화의 원인을 사전에 방지하므로써 장기재배가 가능토록 함과 동시에 양액재배 오이의 생산성과 품질을 획기적으로 향상시킬 수 있는 재배법과 기술체계의 확립이 시급하다. Implementation of saccadic eye movement system with saliency map model (Saliency map 모델을 갖는 도약 안구 시각 시스템의 구현)

  • We propose a new saccadic eye movement system with visual selective attention. Saliency map models generate the scan pathways in a natural scene, of which the output makes an attended location. Saccadic eye movement model is used for producing the target trajectories to move the attended locations very rapidly. To categorize human saccadic eye movement, saccadic eye movement model was divided into three parts, each of which was then individually modeled using different neural networks to reflect a principal functionality of brain structures related with the saccadic eye movement in our brain. Based on the proposed saliency map models and the saccadic eye movement model, an active vision system using a CCD type camera and BLDC motor was developed and demonstrated with experimental results.
