A 78-year-old woman was referred to Chonbuk National University Dental Hospital complaining of facial palsy and palpable mass on the right parotid gland area. Clinical examination showed non-specific findings of the intraoral region, but showed asymmetrical facial appearance. Panoramic view showed a large amorphous calcified mass on the posterior to the mandibular ramus and thin cortical plate of the posterior ramus. Sialogram showed constriction of the main duct and no further filling of striated, intercalated ducts and parenchymal areas. CT scans demonstrated an irregular, infiltrating mass with slight enhancement in the right parotid gland. The mass showed necrotic areas and calcifications. Bone scan showed marked accumulation of /sup 99m/Tc-MDP on the right posterior maxilla. Microscopic findings demonstrated the minimal morphologic alterations and rare mitotic figures within tumor cells, and diagnosed as adenocarcinoma (NOS, Grade II). This report could be aid in the diagnosis of calcified lesions of the salivary gland.

Metastatic tumors to the jaw bones are uncommon. The most common metastatic tumors to the jaw bones are the breast, lung and kidney. In the jaw bones, the common location of the lesions is the mandible, and the posterior area of the mandible is more commonly affected. The radiographic appearance is quite variable. In this report, a very rare case of metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma to the mandible is presented. The patient had undergone a gastrectomy 3 years ago.

This study was carried out to evaluate antitoxic effects Palsun Brewing Water against cadmium by colorimetric methods. The antitoxic activity of Palsun Brewing Water in NIH-3T3 fibroblasts was evaluated by MTT ({3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazoliumbromide} and SRB (sulforhodamine B protein) assays. The light microcopic study was carried out to observe morphological changes of the treated cells. These results were obtained as follows: The concentration of 10-2 mg/ml of Palsun Brewing Water was shown significant antitoxic activity against E. coli endotoxin and Salmonella endotoxin. The number of NIH-3T3 fibroblasts were antitoxin and tend to regenerate. These results suggest that Palsun Brewing Water retains a potential antitoxic activity.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a rare primary tracheal tumor, and this tumor behave slow growth, low grade malignancy with local invasion. Although many patient die within 2 to 3 years of the onset of symptoms without appropriate treatment, adequate therapy should lead to survival of 10 years or more. We had a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma in 47 year old female patient who was treated with resection and end-to-end anastomosis of the invaded trachea. Postoperative course was uneventful and discharged without any complications. Radiotherapy of total 6,600 cGy is scheduled 4 weeks after the resective surgery to prevent recurrence.

In this paper Polyimide(PI) thin film are fabricated by vapor deposition polymerization(VDP) of dry process which are easy to control the film's thickness and hard to pollute due to volatile solvent. The FT-IR spectrum show that PAA thin films fabricated by VDP are changed to PI thin film by thermal curing. From AFM(Atomic Force Microscopy) experimental as the higher curing temperature. the thin film thickness decreases and roughness decresse.

In order to investigate the influence of gamma-irradiation on fatty acids in ginseng, ginseng were irradiated with various radiation doses(0-50 Mrads). The results are as follows. 1. With increasing dose, standard fatty acids were decreased in the order of linolenic acid, linoleic acid and oleic acid, and their contents in the presence of oxygen were decreased more t than that in the absence of oxygen. 2. Changes of lipid content in white ginseng by gamma irradiation were varied with the samples, but the changes of crude lipid and purified lipid in a sample were showed same fashion. 3. The fatty acid contents in white ginseng were decreased by gamma irradiation in the order of linolenic acid, linoleic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid and palmitic acid.

2003년에, 충남 부여시에 건립 중인 백제역사민속박물관에 전시할 '백제사신선'에 대한 복원을 추진할 때, 백제의 해양 활동과 원양 해선에 관한 자료와 역사 고증 자료를 찾아 보았으나 설계나 조선 공작에 도움이 될 만한 자료를 국내에서는 구할 수가 없었다. 2001년 하절에 일본 신호상선대학을 방문하였을 때, 일본의 견당사선에 관한 자문을 상선학부의 송목철 명예교수와 정겸광행 교수에게 구하였던 바, [일본서기]와 회화 등에 일본의 원양해선인 견당사선에 관한 유익한 자료가 있다는 고견을 들었으며, 그 때 견당사선에 관한 참고 자료도 얻을 수 있었다. 그리고 일본의 원양 해선인 견당사선은 백제선식의 선박이라는 것을 여러 자료에서 발견하게 되었다. 이 논문에서는 일본의 견당사선의 실체를 추적하여 백제선의 선형과 선양을 도출하려 한다. Primary adenoid cystic carcioma of trachea is rare, with an incidence of only 0.2 per 100,000 persons per year. When all series of the tracheal carcinomas are combined, adenoid cystic carcinoma is the second most common tumor only to squamous cell carcinoma in incidence. Most patients have wheezing or stridor, dyspnea, hemoptysis, and cough as symptoms. Treatment options include surgery alone, radiation therapy alone, or a combination of both. The recommended surgical option is primary tracheal resection and reconstruction. Recently, we experienced a case of adenoid cystic carcinoma in 45 year old female patient who was treated tracheal tumor resection and end-to-end anastomosis of the trachea, so we report this case with the literatures.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma is malignant neoplasm belonging to a group of tumors of salivary gland origin. It is an aggressive tumor characterized by slow growth and incidious destruction of surrounding tissues. Perineural invasion is a prominent feature. Spread to regional lymph node is rare, other than by direct extension. Distant metastasis are more common. We experienced a 65-year old female with adenoid cystic carcinoma of minor salivary gland in retromolar pad.

The control system of a drum boiler is very complex since the evaporization process in the boiler is a multivariable system which is affected one another. This study is concerned with the dynamic characteristics of the boiler process and improving methods of performance of a drum boiler control system. The PID control with feedforward of disturbances and the optimal regulator are compared, and the effects of control parameters on the performance of a boiler control system are investigated. From simulation, it is found that profer adjustment of control parameters significant improvement of response and that performance of a optimal regulated control system is better than that of a conventional PID control system.
