A Comparison of Physical Fitness of High School Ssirum Elite-players According to Their Weight Class (고등부 씨름선수의 체급별 기초·전문체력 비교분석)

  • This study was conducted from November 25 to December 4, 2019, to unmask differences in physical fitness based on the weight class of high school Ssirum elite-players. A total of 28 high school Ssirum elite-players were compared and analyzed by measuring physical factors (muscle strength/power, agility, anaerobic power, aerobic ability, flexibility, and isokinetic muscle function) by weight class. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 23.0. One-way ANOVA was used for comparison between groups. There was no difference by weight class in terms of grip strength, sit-ups, sergeant jump, long jump, flexibility, side step, and reaction time. Evaluation of back muscle strength revealed that the group with more than 100 kg had greater strength than lower weight categories, whereas it was lower in the sit-ups, 20 m shuttle run and the relative values anaerobic power. Considering isokinetic muscle function, no difference was observed between the groups of back muscle strength and knee joint. The results of this study indicate that amongst the high school Ssirum elite-players, there is no difference in muscle power, flexibility, agility, and anaerobic average power per body weight, isokinetic trunk strength, and knee flexion strength, when evaluated according to weight class.

Analysis of Scoring Difficulty in Different Match Situations in Relation to First Athlete to Score in World Taekwondo Athletes (세계태권도 겨루기 선수들의 선제득점에 따른 경기 내용별 득점 난이도 분석)

  • This study analyzed the difficulty of scoring in different match situations in relation to which competitor scored first. The study analyzed the data from the 2022 Guadalajara World Taekwondo Championships. The analysis was performed for two separate weight classes: lightweight and heavyweight. Four game content variables were used: whether the athlete scored first, attack type, attack area, and game situation. Descriptive statistics, the Rasch model, and discrimination function questions were applied for data processing. SPSS and Winsteps were used for the statistical analysis, and the statistical significance level was set at 0.05. Consequently, in the lightweight class, the scoring frequency of the first scorer was high for all the game variables. In the heavyweight class, the scoring frequency for the first scorer was high for the attack type and attack area. By contrast, those who did not score first were more frequently found to be in a loss situation. By analyzing the scoring difficulties in different match situations based on whether the competitor scored first, the athletes who scored first in attack type most easily scored first. In losing situations, the athletes who scored first in attack area scored most easily, whereas those who did not score first scored most easily in body and match situations. For the heavyweight class, those who scored first in terms of attack type, counter-attack, and attack area scored the most easily while winning in body and match situations.

  • Closed rupture of the extensor hallucis longus (EHL) tendon is uncommon and rarely reported. We present a Taekwondo player who had sustained a closed rupture of the EHL tendon after striking the other player's shin. He had practiced Taekwondo more than 6 hours a day for more than 6 years, including repetitive striking on the dorsum of the foot, which probably caused degeneration of the EHL tendon. The tendon ends could not be approximated directly, so reconstruction was performed with bisecting the distal tendon and combining the repair of the one end with an intercalary scar tissue and the other with tenodesis to the extensor hallucis brevis. He returned to the preoperative level of activity 6 months postoperatively with a satisfactory range of motion.

Numerical Prediction of Slamming Impact Loads and Response on a Ship in Waves Considering Relative Vertical Velocity (상대수직속도를 고려한 파랑중 선박의 슬래밍 충격하중 및 응답 계산)

  • This paper describes the time-domain numerical method for prediction of slamming loads on a ship in waves using the strip theory. The slamming loads was calculated considering the relative vertical velocity between the instantaneous ship motion and wave elevation. For applying the slamming force on a ship section, the momentum slamming theory and the empirical formula-based bottom slamming force were used corresponding to the vertical location of wetted body surface. Using the developed method, the vertical bending moments, relative vertical velocities, and impact forces of S175 containership were compared in the time series for various section locations and wave conditions.

Approximation Method to Estimate Water Entry Impact Forces Acting on Light Weight Torpedo (경어뢰 입수 충격력의 근사화)

  • The water entry forces acting on an air-dropped torpedo are of the restrictions on launch speed and launch altitude, because it could cause the structural damage to components of torpedo. Therefore, it is necessary to estimate the water entry forces with confidence according to launch conditions. In this study, an approximation method for water entry forces is presented, and the results using this approximation are compared with those of other numerical methods. The magnitude and duration of impact forces estimated by the present approximation agree with those of impact by the analysis of ideal or viscous flow. This method can give useful tools to select the launch in initial design stage.

  • The ship's bows and sterns are assembled with the curved blocks. In shipyards, the roller bending and the line heating or others are being used to fabricate such doubly curved shell. Firstly, the cylinder- or cone-type is formed through the roller bending, and then, the line heating is implemented to form the rest. This paper presents an algorithm to determine the direction for the roller bending and the shape to be formed as fabrication information. The direction for the roller bending is determined with Gauss mapping of the desired surface and the shape to form is calculated by comparing the bent shape with the desired shape.

  • This study tried to provide the way of development in sport-climbing base on the history and present of Korean sport climbing. In terms of the policy, single sport climbing association needs to be formed and separated from Korean Alpine Federation. School teams and athletes are required to expand, college teams in particular. These athletes could be sport instructors and professional athletes vitalizing competition and sport climbing after graduation. Public sport climbing facilities need to be counted accurately. Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism needs to administrate the public sport blimbing facilities by counting and checking the facilities with the responsibility.

Variation of the structural stability for the sonar dome window in a naval vessel according to the state of the drain valve (소나돔 충, 배수 밸브의 상태에 따른 함정용 소나돔 윈도우의 구조안정도 변화)

  • Since the active sonar for a naval vessel is usually installed in a bulbous bow, GRP(Glass reinforced plastic) material with low density and high strength is used for the material of the sonar dome window in order to prohibit impact by slamming wave or foreign material in the sea. The structural safety of the sonar dome is varied according to the interior and exterior distributed pressure on the sonar dome. Therefore, the variation of the structural safety according to the pressure variation of the sonar dome window caused by the drain valve state is studied by CAE.
