  • With the recent development of IT technology, research and interest in various biosignal measuring devices is increasing. As an aging society is in full swing, research on the elderly population using IT-related technologies is continuously developing. This study is about the development of life pattern detection and fall detection algorithm, which is one of the medical service areas for the elderly, who are rapidly developing as they enter a super-aged society. This study consisted of a system using a 3-axis accelerometer and an electrocardiogram sensor, collected data, and then analyzed the data. It was confirmed that behavioral patterns could be classified from the actual research results. In order to evaluate the usefulness of the human activity monitoring system implemented in this study, experiments were performed under various conditions, such as changes in posture and walking speed, and signal magnitude range and signal vector magnitude parameters reflecting the acceleration of gravity of the human body and the degree of human activity. was extracted. And the possibility of discrimination according to the condition of the subject was examined by these parameter values.

Optimal Gas Detection System in Cargo Compressor Room of Gas Fueled LNG Carrier (가스추진 LNG 운반선의 가스 압축기실에 설치된 가스검출장치의 최적 배치에 관한 연구)

  • This study analyzes the optimal location of gas detectors through the gas dispersion in a cargo compressor room of a 174K LNG carrier equipped with high-pressure cargo handling equipment; in addition, we propose a reasonable method for determining the safety regulations specified in the new International Code of the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC). To conduct an LNG gas dispersion simulation in the cargo compressor room-equipped with an ME-GI engine-of a 174 K LNG carrier, the geometry of the room as well as the equipment and piping, are designed using the same 3D size at a 1-to-1 scale. Scenarios for a gas leak were examined under high pressure of 305 bar and low pressure of 1 bar. The pinhole sizes for high pressure are 4.5, 5.0, and 5.6mm, and for low pressure are 100 and 140 mm. The results demonstrate that the cargo compressor room will not pose a serious risk with respect to the flammable gas concentration as verified by a ventilation assessment for a 5.6 mm pinhole for a high-pressure leak under gas rupture conditions, and a low-pressure leak of 100 and 140 mm with different pinhole sizes. However, it was confirmed that the actual location of the gas detection sensors in a cargo compressor room, according to the new IGC code, should be moved to other points, and an analysis of the virtual monitor points through a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation.

Crack Propagation Analysis for IMO Type-B Independent Tank with Liquefied Natural Gas Carrier (LNG 운반선에 적용된 독립형 탱크의 균열 진전 해석에 관한 연구)

  • Membrane-type hull and cargo holds have been designed and built for large ship. However, there is a growing interest in applying the same technology to small and medium-sized Liquefied natural gas(LNG) carriers to meet the recent increase in demand for LNG as an ecofriendly fuel and for expanding LNG bunkering infrastructure. The purpose of this study is to apply the IMO Type-B tank to small and medium-sized LNG carriers and verify the safety and suitability of the design. Fatigue crack propagation analysis was performed to install a partial second drip tray installed at the lower part of the LNG cargo tank by calculating the amount of leaked gas in the support structure supporting the cargo tank. First, a program for fatigue crack propagation analysis was developed, in which Paris' law and British Standard 7910 (BS 79110) were applied based on the International Code for the Construction of Equipment and Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk, an international standard for LNG carriers. In addition, a surface crack propagation analysis was performed. Next, a methodology for assuming the initial through-crack size was developed to determine the size of the partial second barrier. The analysis was performed for 15 days, which is a possible return time after cracks are detected. Finally, the safety and suitability of the IMO Type-B for LNG cargo tanks required by international regulations were verified. For the accurate analysis of fatigue crack propagation, it is necessary to develop and verify the analysis procedure based on direct analysis and international regulations.

The Fault Diagnosis Model of Ship Fuel System Equipment Reflecting Time Dependency in Conv1D Algorithm Based on the Convolution Network (합성곱 네트워크 기반의 Conv1D 알고리즘에서 시간 종속성을 반영한 선박 연료계통 장비의 고장 진단 모델)

  • The purpose of this study was to propose a deep learning algorithm that applies to the fault diagnosis of fuel pumps and purifiers of autonomous ships. A deep learning algorithm reflecting the time dependence of the measured signal was configured, and the failure pattern was trained using the vibration signal, measured in the equipment's regular operation and failure state. Considering the sequential time-dependence of deterioration implied in the vibration signal, this study adopts Conv1D with sliding window computation for fault detection. The time dependence was also reflected, by transferring the measured signal from two-dimensional to three-dimensional. Additionally, the optimal values of the hyper-parameters of the Conv1D model were determined, using the grid search technique. Finally, the results show that the proposed data preprocessing method as well as the Conv1D model, can reflect the sequential dependency between the fault and its effect on the measured signal, and appropriately perform anomaly as well as failure detection, of the equipment chosen for application.

  • As a new technical approach, the achievement of an eco-environmental leisure boat with a photovoltaic system is attempted by simultaneously actuating nine photovoltaic solar panels, in association with an applied sail control system by use of wind. In this approach, the photovoltaic system consists of a solar module, an inverter, a battery, and relevant components, while the sail control device is equipped with a sail up/down and mast-turning instrument. Furthermore, this research conducts a performance evaluation of the manufactured prototype and acquires the purposed quantity value and the development purpose items. The significant items-sail up/down speed (seconds) and mast turning angle (degrees)-are evaluated during the performance test. In the process of the performance evaluation, a wind direction sensitivity of 90% and a maximum instant charging power of 900 W were also obtained. In addition, the maximum sail time is evaluated in order to acquire the optimum quantity.

  • CIS(CuInSe2)계 화합물 태양전지는 높은 광흡수계수와 열적 안정성으로 고효율 태양전지 제조가 가능하여 태양전지용 광흡수층으로 매우 이상적이다. 미국 NREL에서는 이러한 CIGS 태양전지를 Co-evaporation 방법으로 제조 20%이상의 에너지 변환 효율을 달성하였다고 보고하였다. CIGS 태양전지의 경우 기존의 유리 기판 대신 유연한 철강 기판을 사용해 태양전지를 flexible하게 제조 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 이러한 flexible 태양전지의 경우 기존의 rigid 태양전지의 적용분야 뿐만 아니라 BIPV, 선박, 장난감, 군용, 자동차등 더욱더 많은 분야에 활용이 가능하다. 하지만 flexible 태양전지에 사용되는 철강기판의 경우 기존의 유리 기판인 SLG에 함유되어 있는 Na이 첨가되어 있지 않아 별도의 Na 첨가가 필요하다. Na은 CIGS 광흡수층의 결정을 증가 시키며 태양전지의 전기적 특성을 향상시킨다. 이러한 Na이 없는 경우 효율이 감소한다. 따라서 flexible 태양전지 개발을 위해서는 Na 첨가에 대한 연구가 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 Na의 증착 순서를 변화시켜서 CIGS 증착 전, 동시증착, CIGS 증착 후로 나누어 CIGS 광흡수층 결정성의 변화를 알아보고자 한다. Na의 두께를 5nm에서 500nm 까지 단계 별로 나누어 실험을 실시하였다. 이때 CIGS 광흡수층은 미국의 NREL과 같은 3 stage 방식을 이용하였다. 1st stage의 시간은 15분으로 고정하였으며 기판온도는 약 $300^{\circ}C$로 고정 하였다. 2nd stage는 실시간 온도 감지 장치를 이용하여 Cu와 In+Ga의 조성비가 1:1이 되는 시간을 기준으로 Cu의 조성을 30%더 높게 조절하였으며 기판 온도는 약 $640^{\circ}C$로 고정 후 실험을 실시하였다. 3rd stage의 경우 Cu poor 조성으로 조절하기 위해 모든 조건을 10분으로 고정 후 실험을 실시하였다. 기판은 Na의 영향만을 비교하기위하여 Na이 첨가되어있지 않은 corning glass를 사용하였다. 후면 전극으로 약 $1{\mu}m$ 두께의 Mo을 DC Sputtering 방법을 이용하여 증착 하였다. 각각의 Na 두께에 따른 CIGS 광흡수층의 특성을 분석하기 위해 FE-SEM, XRD 분석을 실시하였다.

An Analysis on Short-Range-Radar Characteristic for Developing Object Detecting System (물체탐지 시스템의 개발을 위한 근거리 레이더에 대한 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we suggest the development of object detection systems for the safety of the ship through the study of the properties of short-range radar. Many of the short-range radars developed for special purpose like cars has cheaper price advantages but it is not proper to every application. In order to overcome such obstacles we need to analysis data from experiments in various environments and feature analysis of the device is essential. Also, the data clustering algorithms to display correct classified moving objects is necessary. In this paper we propose the advanced fast moving object detection system using short range radars with better detection accuracy. And we proposed a clustering algorithm using the value of the RCS and the speed and trajectory information of the radar data that are reflected.

  • Improvement of the thermal efficiency in operation and maintenance of low- and medium-speed engines is a kind of never-ending requirement in the maritime power plant business. For the purpose of improving engine management efficiency, a principal factor that represents the fitness of the engine should be identified. Gas pressure, gas temperature, and vibration have all been used as this factor. However, they have limitations in terms of response speed and diagnosis accuracy. The EFR (engine fitness ratio) is suggested as a new diagnostic factor in this paper. The EFR is defined as the ratio of particular frequencies in the frequency domain and represents the fitness of an engine. It is calculated from the fluctuation pattern of the crankshaft angular speed. The EFR was verified using an experimental method for a low-speed engine and an analytic method for a medium-speed engine.

  • This paper deals with the vibration absorbers of gravitational and centrifugal pendulum types for vibration controls of ship's substructures such as radarmasts, bridgewings and funnels. The mathematical model of such a vibrating system with an absorber is described as a 2 degree of freedom system and an efficient formulation for optimum design of the absorber is presented. For investigation applicability of the two types of the absorbers to a structure system, numerical calculations and experiments hove been performed with variation of mass ratios for each type. According to the results of investigations, the vibration absorber of gravitational type proved to be more useful and efficient than one of centrifugal pendulum type in a view point of mass ratio.

A Detection System of Drowsy Driving based on Depth Information for Ship Safety Navigation (선박의 안전운항을 위한 깊이정보 기반의 졸음 감지 시스템)

  • This paper propose a method to detect and track a human face using depth information as well as color images for detection of drowsy driving. It consists of a face detection procedure and a face tracking procedure. The face detection procedure basically uses the Adaboost method which shows the best performance so far. But it restricts the area to be searched as the region where the face is highly possible to exist. The face detected in the detection procedure is used as the template to start the face tracking procedure. The experimental results showed that the proposed detection method takes only about 23 % of the execution time of the existing method. In all the cases except a special one, the tracking error ratio is as low as about 1 %.
