3-D petroleum system modeling was performed on the Jeju Basin, offshore southern Korea to analyze the hydrocarbon migration and accumulation as well as the generation and expulsion of the hydrocarbon, based on subsurface structure maps of respective sedimentary formations. The lowermost formation deposited in Eocene time was assigned as a source rock, for which a mixed kerogen of type II and III was input in the modeling of oil and gas generation in consideration of the sedimentary environment of fluvio-lacustrine condition. Initial TOC was 4% as an input, based on the analysis of the well data and sedimentary environment. The modeling results show that a considerable amount of hydrocarbons was generated and expelled from the source rocks at the western Joint Development Zone (JDZ) sub-block 4, where the hydrocarbons was migrated to the above reservoir rocks at 20 Ma. The oil and gas in the reservoir rocks of the JDZ sub-block 4 are accumulated into the prospects with closure structures that has already been formed at the nearby areas. Another generation of hydrocarbon occurs from the source rock at the eastern border area of JDZ sub-block 1 and 2, where the expulsion of the hydrocarbons occurs at 10 Ma from the source rock into the above reservoir rocks, in which the accumulation also is expected. The generation, migration and accumulation were retarded at the eastern area of the JDZ sub-block 1 and 2, compared with the area of the western JDZ sub-block 4. Based on the modeling results, it is estimated that gases migrated laterally and vertically in long distance whereas oil migrated laterally in shorter distance than gases. A substantial amount of hydrocarbon could have seeped out of the reservoir formations to the surface since the migration of oil and gas actively occurred in Miocene time before the formation of seals. However, the modeling shows that the hydrocarbon could be accumulated smoothly into the closed structures that can be formed locally by alternation of sand and shale beds.
The timing of hydrocarbon generation and expulsion from source rocks can be evaluated by reconstructing the geohistory of the basin using petroleum system modeling. The Tyee basin is generally considered having a high hydrocarbon generation potential For the southern part of the basin, the basin evolution from a structural and stratigraphic points of view, the thermal history, and the burial history were reconstructed and simulated using numerical tools of basin modeling. An evaluation of organic geochemistry for the potential source rocks and the possible petroleum systems were analysed to improve the understanding of the hydrocarbon charge of the basin. Organic geochemical data indicate that the undifferentiated Umpqua Group, mudstones of the Klamath Mountains, and coals and carbonaceous mudstones in the Remote Member and the Coquille River Member are the most potential gas-prone source rocks in the basin. The relatively high maturity of the southern Tyee basin is related to deep burial resulting from loading by the Coos bay strata. And the heating by intrusion from the western Cascade arc also affects to the high maturity of the basin. The maturation of source rocks, the hydrocarbon generation and expulsion were evaluated by means of basin modeling. The modeling results reveal that the hydrocarbon was generated in all potential source rocks and an expulsion only occurred from the Remote Member.
As air pollution caused by fine dust becomes serious, interest in the spread of fine dust and prediction of air quality is increasing. The causes of fine dust are very diverse, and some fine dust naturally occurs through forest fires and yellow dust, but most of them are known to be caused by air pollutants from burning fossil fuels such as petroleum and coal or from automobile exhaust gas. In this paper, the CALPUFF model recommended by the US EPA is used, and CALPUFF diffusion modeling is performed by generating a wind field through the CALMET model as a meteorological preprocessing program that generates a three-dimensional wind field, which is a meteorological element required by CALPUFF. Through this, we propose a fine dust diffusion modeling and air quality prediction system that reflects complex topography.
We performed process and CFD simulations of a 100 kW fuel cell system. By process simulation, we derived the input flow rate of each unit process and the recycle diesel flow rate. Through CFD simulation considering the recycle diesel flow, more efficient operational condition was found. Using 6 desulfurize reactors, a TSA process for a 100 kW fuel cell system was successfully constructed. Heat interference between reactors was found to be negligible. These results will contribute to increasing the efficiency of fuel cell system and the developed desulfurizing module design will contribute to the clean petrochemical technology as well as fuel cell systems.
The European Union has instituted a new emission standard protocol that necessitates real-time measurements from vehicles on actual roads. The adequate development of routes for real driving emissions (RDE) mandates substantial resources, encompassing both vehicles and a portable emission measurement system (PEMS). In this study, a simulation tool was utilized to predict the vehicle speed traversing the routes developed for the RDE measurements. Initially, the vehicle powertrain system was modeled for both a gasoline hybrid vehicle and a gasoline engine-only vehicle. Subsequently, the speed profile for the specified vehicle was constructed based on the RDE route developed for the EURO-6 standard. Finally, the predicted vehicle speed profiles for highway and urban routes were assessed utilizing the actual driving data. The driving model predicted more consistency in the vehicle speed at each driving section. Meanwhile, the human driver tended to accelerate further, and then decelerate in each section, instead of cruising at a predicted section speed.
The purpose of this study was the implementation of a simulation for a subsea production system. This subsea production system is installed under environments with high pressure and low temperature. Most of the processes for oil and gas production occur in the subsea equipment. Therefore, an understanding and study of subsea production systems is very difficult because people cannot directly observe the processes occurring in the subsea production system. A simulation system can be a useful solution for this difficult problem. In this research, information models and a 3-D graphic model of the subsea equipment were built using the object-oriented technology and 3-D CAD. The entire system was implemented with the help of simulation software, 3-DVIA Virtools. The simulation system for the subsea production system was tested using several production process scenarios. The results of the tests showed that the simulation system is very useful for understanding a subsea production system and could be a good educational tool.

This paper discusses the modeling and implementation of a worker location system at a shipbuilding site. The importance of worker location in an industrial environment is highlighted as a critical element in the prevention of industrial accidents. The paper presents a worker tracking system that integrates power line and beacon communication to accurately track worker position. Through experiments, the paper demonstrates how to monitor the changes in worker location based on different scenarios and how to access the status of worker location using the manager's web service. The paper can be used for the design of a system that will provide real-time location information to safety managers for the improvement of worker safety management.

Highly accurate control of an air-fuel ratio is very important to reduce exhaust gas emissions of gaseous-fuel engines. In order to achieve this purpose, a precise engine model is required to estimate engine performance from the engine design process which is applied to the design of an engine controller. Engine dynamics are considered to develop a dynamic engine model of a gaseous-fuel engine. An effective air mass ratio is proposed to study variations of the engine dynamics according to the water vapor and the gaseous-fuel in the mixture. The dynamic engine model is validated with the LPG engine under steady and transient operating conditions. The experimental results in the LPG gaseous-fuel engine show that the estimation of the air flow and the air-fuel ratio based upon the effective air mass ratio is more accurate than that of a normal engine model.
