Study on Lateral Flow Distribution and Momentum Analysis at Flood season and Neap tide of the Seokmo Channel in the Han River estuary (소조기 홍수시 한강하구 석모수로에서의 횡 방향 2차 흐름 및 운동량 분석)

  • This research observed the cross section current of 7 survey lines in Seokmo Channel of Gyeonggi bay with a lot of freshwater inflow and S-shaped for 13 hours during flood season and neap tide. We indicated the distribution of the current velocity by comprehending the speed and direction of the current velocity of each line during maximum flood, ebb tide and observed the distribution of salinity. Moreover, in order to understand what lateral momentum causes the lateral flow in each survey line, we practiced the momentum analysis through the observation data. As a result, the lateral baroclinic pressure gradient force and vertical friction of the Seokmo channel during neap tide were the strongest, and this is why the flow by the distribution of salinity and stratification most often occurs. In north of the Seokmo channel, where have wide intertidal and a lot of freshwater inflow, the secondary circulation is caused by balance of lateral baroclinic pressure gradient force and other forces, and the vertical friction was strong in the lines with small depth. On the other hand, in the southern part of the Seokmo channel where the water is deep and the waterway is curved, the advective acceleration and centrifugal force become stronger by the geographical causes during ebb and the influence of fresh water. Therefore, the lateral flow in the Seokmo channel was caused by the distribution of the momentum that differs by location, depth, curve, etc.

Seasonal Variation in Species Composition of the Larval Fish in the Han River Estuary, Korea (한강 하구역 자치어 종조성의 계절 변동)

  • Seasonal variation and abundance of fish larvae in Han River estuary were determined by analysis of seasonal samples collected from three channels in the Han River estuary from May 2007 to August 2008. During the study, a total of 3,642 fish larvae were collected belonging to 13 taxa. Coilia spp. was the most abundant (48.8%). The highest number of taxa (11 taxa) was collected in the Jangbong channel and abundance was high in the Sukmo channel (2,428 ind./$1,000m^3$). Brackish-water species were prevailed in the Yumhwa channel and the Sukmo channel, while coastal species were abundant in the Jangbong channel. Canonical correspondence analysis revealed that the environmental factors such as water temperature and salinity had a strong relationship with the abundance of major larvae species.

  • 시뮬레이션 상의 입력모델에 대한 기존의 연구는 과거의 자료를 바탕으로 선형의 모수적인 (parametric) 모형을 개발하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 그러나 이 경우에는 입력이 매우 복잡한 형태를 가지면 모수적인 모형을 잦는 것이 불가능해지므로 비모수적인(non-parametric) 접근방법이 절실한 실정이다 예로 인터넷 트래픽 모델의 시뮬레이션 수행시 입력으로 제공되는 단위 시간당 요구되는 웹 페이지의 수 같은 경우 데이터들 간데 종속관계가 매우 심하고 복잡하여 모수적 모형을 세우는데 어려움이 있다. 이러한 시스템들을 시뮬레이션 방법으로 분석 하고자 할 때, 기존의 trace-driven 시뮬레이션 방법이나 모수적 모형을 찾아 다수의 사실적인 시뮬레이션 입력 자료를 확보하는 것은 현실적으로 어려움이 있다. 따라서. 비모수적인 방법으로 다수의 사실적인 시뮬레이션 입력 자료를 생성하는 것이 필요하다. 이러한 비모수적인 방법에 대한 평가기준 설정은 시뮬레이션 상의 입력 모델에 대한 타당성을 제시한다는 점에서 또한 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 붓트스트 랩의 방법중의 하나인 임계값 붓트스트랩을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 입력 자료 생성 방법을 개발하였고 Turing test를 통해 붓스트랩으로 생성산 입력 시나리오를 검증하였다.

  • When we are estimate the smoothing parameter in spline regression model, we deal the diagnostic of influence observations as posteriori analysis. When we use Generalized Maximum Likelihood Function as the estimation method of smoothing parameter, we propose the diagnostic measure for influencial observations in the obtained estimate, and we introduce the finding method of the proper smoothing parameter estimate.

  • In the Heckman-Meyers model, which is frequently referred by IAA, Swiss Solvency Test, EU Solvency II, the assumption of parameter distribution is key factor. While in theory Bayesian analysis somewhat reflects parameter uncertainty using prior distribution, it is often the case where both Heckman-Meyers and Bayesian are necessary to better manage the parameter uncertainty. Therefore, this paper proposes the use of Bayesian H-M CRM, a combination of Heckman-Meyers model and Bayesian, and analyzes its efficiency.

비모수적 회귀함수 추정에서 평활량의 선택에 관한 연구

  • 비모수적 커널 회귀함수 추정법에서 평활량(bandwidth of smoothing parameter)의 선택은 아주 중요한 문제이다. 교차타당성(cross-validation) 방법에 의한 평활량은 최적평활량으로의 상대적 수렴속도(relative convergence rate)가 $n^{-1/10}$로 상당히 느리다는 것을 알고 있다. 본 연구는 삽입방법(plug-in method)에 의해 선택된 평활량의 상대적 수렴속도가 교차타당성 방법보다 더 빠른 $n^{-2/7}$이 됨을 보였다. 그리고 모의실험을 통하여 소 표본에서도 삽입방법이 교차타당성 방법보다 우수함을 입증하였다.

Parameter estimation for exponential distribution under progressive type I interval censoring (지수 분포를 따르는 점진 제1종 구간 중도절단표본에서 모수 추정)

  • In this paper, we introduce a method of parameter estimation of progressive Type I interval censored sample and progressive type II censored sample. We propose a new parameter estimation method, that is converting the data which obtained by progressive type I interval censored, those data be used to estimate of the parameter in progressive type II censored sample. We used exponential distribution with unknown scale parameter, the maximum likelihood estimator of the parameter calculates from the two methods. A simulation is conducted to compare two kinds of methods, it is found that the proposed method obtains a better estimate than progressive Type I interval censoring method in terms of mean square error.

  • The projection pursuit method has been gussested as a technique for the analysis of the multivariate data. This method seeks out interesting linear projections of the multivariate data onto a line of a plane to solve the curse or dimensionality. In this paper we developed the discriminant analysis by using the projection method and simulations were used for comparison between this and other existing discriminant analysis methods.

The Relation of Cross-sectional Residual Current and Stratification during Spring and Neap Tidal Cycle at Seokmo Channel, Han River Estuary Located at South Korea (대.소조기시 한강하구 석모수로에서 단면 잔차류와 성층간의 관계 연구)

  • This study analyzed cross-sectional variations in residual current and strengths of stratification by observing cross-sectional velocity and salinity during spring tide and neap tide, respectively, for continuous 13-hour periods at 2 observation lines at northern and southern end of Seokmo Channel, which is located west of Ganghwado. Salinity distribution of channel depends on not only neap and spring tide but also impact of salinity. The residual current component was obtained by removing $M_2$ and $M_4$ tidal components that were extracted using the least squares method on 13-hour velocity component. Cross-section of residual velocity at northern and southern end of Seokmo Channel exhibited southward residual components at channel's surface layer, but northward residual current was observed at channel's bottom layer, clearly showing a 2-layer tidal circulation between surface and bottom layers. The variation in location of appearing northward residual current according to changes in spring and neap tidal cycle and its correlation with stratification were analyzed using the Richardson number and Simpsonhunter index. At northern and southern end of Seokmo Channel, northward residual current appears in the location where Richardson number is large, Simpson-hunter index appears as a value greater than 4.
