This study conducted a classification of small-scale biological habitats created in Seoul to analyze and synthesize location characteristics, habitat structure, biological habitat functions, and threat factors of representative sites, as well as derive creation and management problems according to the ecological characteristics. The aim was to suggest improvement measures and management items. Data collected through a field survey was used to categorize 39 locations, and 8 representative sites were selected by dividing them into location, water system, and size as classification criteria for typification. Due to the characteristics of each type, the site was created in an area where amphibian movement was disadvantageous due to low or disconnected connectivity with the hinterland forest, and the water supply was unstable in securing a constant flow and maintaining a constant water depth. The habitat structure has a small area, an artificial habitat structure that is unfavorable for amphibians, having the possibility of sediment inflow, and damage to the revetment area. The biological habitat function is a lack of wetland plants and the distribution of naturalized grasses, and threats include the establishment of hiking trails and decks in the surrounding area. Artificial disturbances occur adjacent to facilities. When creating habitats according to the characteristics of each type, it was necessary to review the possibility of an artificial water supply and introduce a water system with a continuous flow in order to connect the hinterland forest for amphibian movement and locate it in a place where water supply is possible. The habitat structure should be as large as possible, or several small-scale habitats should be connected to create a natural waterfront structure. In addition, additional wetland plants should be introduced to provide shelter for amphibians, and facilities such as walking paths should be installed in areas other than migration routes to prevent artificial disturbances. After construction, the management plan is to maintain various water depths for amphibians to inhabit and spawn, stabilize slopes due to sediment inflow, repair damage to revetments, and remove organic matter deposits to secure natural grasses and open water. Artificial management should be minimized. This study proposed improvement measures to improve the function of biological habitats through the analysis of problems with previously applied techniques, and based on this, in the future, small-scale biological habitat spaces suitable for the urban environment can be created for local governments that want to create small-scale biological habitat spaces, including Seoul City. It is significant in that it can provide management plans.

In order to restore an ecologically damaged river, freshwater fish which inhabit at the target aquatic ecosystem have a great applicability as one of the essential indicators. Although the informations about the habitat conditions of freshwater fish are key elements reflecting biological, physical, and chemical properties of the aquatic environment, because of the lack of preceding related research and insufficient database with scattered data, they have not been applied effectively for the ecological river restoration projects in Korea. To cope with these problems, based on the nation-wide detailed investigation for domestic freshwater fish habitat conditions, we have selected 70 species considering the possibility for the candidates of flagship species, constructed a database for their population, physical, and chemical habitat properties, and suggested its application methodology for the river restoration projects. In particular, the utilization of the database has been enhanced by the additional statistical analysis to present their resistance and optimum ranges for physical, and chemical habitat properties respectively. It is expected that the database constructed in this study can be utilized for the calculation and evaluation of the appropriate ecological flow rate and target water quality for the selected flagship species (fish), and the basic data for the restoration of river environment.
The objective of this study is to derive the core habitat of the Kirengeshoma koreana Nakai utilizing Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) and Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) models. Expert-based models have been criticized for their subjective criteria, while statistical models face difficulties in on-site validation and integration of expert opinions. To address these limitations, both models were employed, and their outcomes were overlaid to derive the core habitat. Five variables were identified through a comprehensive literature review and spatial analysis based on appearance coordinates. The environmental variables encompass vegetation zone, forest type, crown density, annual precipitation, and effective soil depth. Through surveys involving six experts, importance rankings and SI (Suitability Index) scores were established for each variable, subsequently facilitating the creation of an HSI map. Using the same variables, the MaxEnt model was also executed, resulting in a corresponding map, which was merged to construct the definitive core habitat map. Out of 16 observed locations of K. koreana, 15 were situated within the identified core habitat. Furthermore, an area historically known to host K. koreana but not verified in the present, Mt. Yeongchwi, was found to lack a core habitat. These findings suggest that the developed models exhibit a high degree of accuracy and effectively reflect the current ecological landscape.
The burned pine forest may change into the grassland with bushes. However, it is likely that forest insects immigrated from the adjacent forest may be temporally abundant in the burned forest. This study was conducted to observe the immigration of insects for a year since forest fire. Beetle fauna in burned forest was compared with that in unburned forest in Goseong in Gwangwon province where the big fire was occurred and burned 3,762 ha of forest in 1996. The 381 individuals of 60 beetle species was collected from the burned forest, whereas the 370 individuals of 63 beetle species from the unburned forest. There was no difference in abundance and species richness of beetle fauna between burned forest and unburned forest. Most of abundant beetle species were collected from burned forest as well as unburned forest. Seasonal occurrence of the insects in burned forest were similar to those in unburned forest. These indicate active immigration of insects in burned forest in early season after fire. The beetles dwelling on vegetation were more actively immigrated into burned forest compared with those foraging in ground.
The web is an important source of information and most of Web applications are based on form documents in HTML-based form documents only play a role as user interfaces, and they do not involve the procedures or rules if business process which form document designers assume. However, from documents imply methods for treating documents, and these embedded procedural knowledge can be utilized.actively in automation of business process. In this respect, we Investigate the activeness of documents with cognitive science to automate business processes based on from documents. Through this, we have a new concept and applicability of active documents. Our active documents include business rules and declarative knowledge to support the automation of document processing. Also, we propose a processing framework for the active documents. The framework has two phases: build-time and run-time. in order to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed framework, a prototype called ActiveForm is designed and implemented for requisition processing them in an inference engine can enhance the intelligence of Internet applications.
Major cities have strengthened their efforts to improve the environmental function of the urban forest through aspects of quantity and quality. Yet, it is difficult to propose both long-term improvement and management policy direction continuously due to a lack of evaluating method that social needs could be reflected. After all, effective strengthening of the function of an urban forest, composed of social and biotic environments, is essential to create evaluation criteria. Such data reflects a quantity variation and identifies the distribution and habitation of biotic sources as well. An assessment of utilization possibilities presents such values as a green connectivity, an ecological healthiness, and usage and access opportunities. Consequently, this research was executed to create an urban forest sustainability index that proposes a management and policy direction based on the evaluation of quantity and quality aspects. This study was processed by the following steps: a degree of importance of ecological aspect, a sub-classification index choice, and an examination of adequacy. This research was conducted from premises that urban forest had another functions comparisons to a natural forest. As a result, a criteria of sustainability should be considered to evaluate an ecological aspect, as well as the social and management aspects regarding human disturbance. This research is designed to develop an evaluation index for ecological aspect. In order to evaluate the ecological healthiness of an urban forest, a vegetation index considers aspects of related rarity, damage possibility, naturalness, area, and diversity. In a wildbird index-related study, forest duration and area were selected. Finally, a variance analysis is presented, inclusive of stability, naturalness, diversity, potentiality, and possibility of wildlife inhabitation, which is indicative of an urban forest sustainability index.
To see the influence of bird species by the change of temperature in city, we have carried out bird census 22 times for 6 years from 2003 to 2008 in Worldcup Park, Seoul. And we analysed the correlation between the temperature of Seoul and wildbirds. 15 orders, 38 families and 102 species were confirmed to have existed. We could find that Hypsipetes amaurotis gradually turned out to have increased with statistical significance for 6 years. To analyze the relationship between the temperature of Seoul and wildbirds, we have chosen 31 bird species observed more than 30% in frequency and proceeded the regression analysis. The survey shows that with the temperature rise the number of the resident birds such as Pica pica, Parus palustris, Anas platyrhynchos and Anas poecilorhyncha and the migratory birds such as Buteo buteo has declined. These 5 species have a possibility to be decreased as a global climate warming and maybe move to another habitat. In contrast, Oriolus chinensis and Falco tinnunculus are characterized into the species that increased due to the rising temperature. So they have a posibility to increase and expand their habitat. This survey shows that temperature rise can cause to change the composition of bird species. And 7 bird species related with the change of temperature have a great possibility as a indicator of the climate change.
