The Validity of IT Consulting SERVQUAL Measurement Tool (IT컨설팅 서비스 품질 측정에 대한 타당성 검증에 관한 연구)

  • This paper examines the validity of the newly developed IT consulting SERVQUAL measurement tool. In an attempt to measure Ire IS customers' expectations and perceived quality of the services they received, the researchers developed a diagnostic tool of SERVQUAL based on the solid theoretical background, which can specifically be applied to the IT consulting service sector. This on-going research so far, has been applied to six (6) different organizations that have received IT consulting services over the past years. From the preliminary data collected, the correlation and the factor analyses were conducted to understand the underlying concept and refinement of the measurement tool. Although the correlation analysis showed a little tendency of collinearity among some of the variables, all showed sound relationship of the proposed hypotheses. The exploratory factor analytic approach was chosen because it does not set any priori constraints on the estimation of components or the number of components to be extracted. The number of different factor solutions was extracted and tested to see which solution represents better grouping of the variables. The Crombach's Alpha was computed on different combinations of the factor solutions to ensure validity. The results show 8-dimensional IT consulting SERVQUAL measures which they are, assurance, knowledge & skill, customer relationship, support, empathy, process management, expertise, and education, seem more appropriate than the originally proposed 6 dimensions. The study approach was non-experimental cross-sectional research design. The longitudinal design of follow-up studies to periodically revise and refine current measure is strongly recommended for fine tuning of the tool.

  • 양안식 3DTV 비디오의 효율적인 압축을 위해 다양한 기술들이 연구되었으며, 그 중 좌우영상으로 상이한 해상도의 영상을 사용하는 비대칭 양안식 영상은 인간의 시각시스템이 상이한 해상도의 양안식 양상을 높은 쪽 영상의 품질에 가깝게 인지하는 특성을 이용한 대표적인 비트레이트를 절감 방식이다. 이에 다양한 연구에서 좌우해상도 차이에 따른 화질 저하 정도를 측정하려는 시도가 이루어졌으나, 기존 연구에서는 적정 시청거리를 고려하지 않고 좌우 영상의 크기만을 고려하여 실험하였으며 따라서 각 연구별로 상이한 실험 결과가 도출되었다. 본 연구에서는 인간의 시각 시스템을 고려하여 적정 시청거리를 계산하고, 이에 따라 좌우영상 비율 별 화질평가를 수행하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 좌영상을 IID급 방송콘텐츠로 가정하고, 우영상을 모바일 방송콘텐츠로 가정함으로써, 실험 결과의 방송 서비스 활용가능성을 높였다.

  • 서버 클러스터는 성능을 보장하기 위하여, 요청 수에 상관없이 미리 측정된 최대 부하 시점에서 처리 가능한 서버 수를 항상 운영하고 있다. 이것은 서비스의 품질은 보장할 수 있으나, 소비 전력 효율이 낮아 상당한 전력을 낭비하는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자 요청 수에 기반하여 동작시킬 서버의 수를 결정하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방식은 기존에 학습된 정보(과거 정보)와 현재의 정보에 근거하여 Off/Sleep 상태의 서버를 On 시키거나, On 상태의 서버를 Off/Sleep시켜, 현 시점에서 필요한 최적의 서버대수를 유지하도록 했다. 15대의 서버로 클러스터를 구성하고, SPECweb을 통해 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과, 서버 모드를 제어할 경우에 제어하지 않는 경우에 비해 약 35%의 전력이 절감되고, 본 논문에서 제안하는 학습 방법을 추가로 적용할 경우 약 5%의 전력이 추가로 절감되었다.

Design of RF Digital Spectrum Analyser for Mobile Communication (이동 통신용 RF 디지털 스펙트럼 분석기 설계)

  • It is important to analyse the frequency spectrum for the measurement of modulated signal, distortion, and noise. The frequency spectrum analysis is performed by the execution of Radix-2 DIT DFT i.e. FFT algorithm. The discrete input signal converted by A/D converter from the input signal in time domain is mathematically transformed to the frequency spectrum by FFT algorithm. In this study, we design the digital spectrum analyser by the hardware based on the TMS320F2812 DSP and AD9244 converter, and by the software based on the C28x S/W modules. We can timely analyse the frequency spectrum in mobile communication system by the digital frequency analyser based on the high performance DSP and S/W modules. This real-time analysing capability is the important performance in the internet-based mobile communication server system.

Effective Transmission System of Multimedia Services using Eureka-147 DAB (Eureka-147 DAB를 통한 멀티미디어 서비스의 효율적인 전송시스템)

  • The Eureka-147 Digital Audio Broadcasting(DAB) system is the new international standard for mobile broadcasting services including high-quality audio, program associated data and other multimedia data. In this paper, we design the transport frame structures for the mobile multimedia services by using the configuration of the Eureka-147 DAB multiplex and MPEG system specifications, and then compare their performances in terms of functionality and overhead. Especially, we suggest and analyze the effective transport structures, which are improved in the efficiency of media multiplexing architecture, by removing the functionally overlapped parts between DAB and MPEG systems. In addition, we evaluate the transmission environments of various DAB data channels and demonstrate the transmission error effects on the low bit rate video stream.

A Study on the Evaluation of the Work-Net, a Web-based Public Employment Information System (웹 기반 공공고용정보시스템 워크넷(Work-Net)평가에 관한 연구)

  • A public information system is being expanded, along with the advance of information technology, to strengthen national competitiveness and provide people with better services. And there also is a growin need for the better performance of that system, as a tremendous amount of public financial resources is invested in that. To address that need, it's required to make an evaluation of its efficiency on a regular basis to identify its problems and make it work better. The purpose of this study was, accordinglu, to examine the quality of data and services provided by the Work-Net, a Web-based public employment information system. The subjects in this study were 102 users of it, and the system was evaluated in terms of content, accuracy, timeliness, display format, ease of use and customer support. For data analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVA were implemented to find out the general characteristics of the users, and to see Whether or not their view was different according to the type of information they searched for. The findings of this study are expected to lay some foundation for intensifying the efficiency of the public and private employment information systems.

A Study on Estimating the Number of Users in e-Commerce Systems (전자상거래 시스템의 사용자 수 예측에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a methodology to estimate the number of users in e-Commerce systems. There have been a lot of previous work under the closed-LAN system environment. But the study on the number of acceptable users in real network environment is hard to find in the literature. Our research applies a Hybrid Simulation by using QoS results for end-to-end high-speed Internet service, and experiments are performed with regard to LAN and WAN, network equipments, and various network bandwidth. As result of the experiments we observed that the response time of high-speed Internet service media(Wireless LAN, ADSL, Cable, VDSL) depends heavily on the sequence and depth of transactions and on the ratio of transactional and non-transactional interactions. That is, as the network and application get more loads, the number of acceptable users decreases. By adding a cache server and an L4 switch to the simulation model, we analysed the changes in the number of users and client response time.

  • Currently, interest on physical distribution is increasing due to burden of oil cost increases as oil price rises day by day. As interest grows, there are number of studies have been conducting on saving the cost of distribution. On the other hand, number of study on service of distribution is insufficient. Actually, subject of service of physical distribution have been studied by number of survey organizations, research organizations and mass media. Although, configuration for each organization is different from each other and it is hard to measure objective satisfactory factor of customers. This means needs for constructing standardized measuring tool as well as research on measuring service quality of distribution is not active. Therefore, this research is to compare and analyze compatibility of service quality measuring using SERVQUAL and SERVPERF and trying to clarify differences affected by importance service quality by each level to actual service quality. Also, this research is to make basic and standardized measuring model to improve quality of physical distribution especially using analysis of service quality and customer satisfaction of pallet pool service which contributes rationalization of distribution and reduce the cost by standardizing specification and size of pallet, allowing sharing of pallet. To conduct this research, case study of a company A is used where it is in a pallet pool business. Using this example, the goal is to give help on pallet pool business a strategic exercise if the business by point out major factors that affect customer satisfaction by collecting customer assessment along with examination of SERVQUAL and SERVPERF in measuring service quality if pallet pool service.

Design of the Call Admission Control System of the ATM Networks Using the Fuzzy Neural Networks (퍼지 신경망을 이용한 ATM망의 호 수락 제어 시스템의 설계)

  • In this paper, we proposed the FNCAC (fuzzy neural call admission control) scheme of the ATM networks which used the benefits of fuzzy logic controller and the learning abilities of the neural network to solve the call admission control problems. The new call in ATM networks is connected if QoS(quality of service) of the current calls is not affected due to the connection of a new call. The neural network CAC(call admission control) system is predictable system because the neural network is able to learn by the input/output pattern. We applied the fuzzy inference on the learning rate and momentum constant for improving the learning speed of the fuzzy neural network. The excellence of the proposed algorithm was verified using measurement of learning numbers in the traditional neural network method and fuzzy neural network method by simulation. We found that the learning speed of the FNCAC based on the fuzzy learning rules is 5 times faster than that of the CAC method based on the traditional neural network theory.

Performance analysis of private multimedia caching network based on wireless local area network (WLAN 기반 개인형 멀티미디어 캐싱 네트워크 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, we propose a private multimedia caching scheme based on wireless local area network (WLAN) to improve the quality of service for high capacity and high quality multimedia streaming services which are recently increasing and to reduce the traffic load of core networks. The proposed caching scheme stores multimedia in the storage device mounted on WLAN APs and provides streaming services on its own without Internet connection in accordance with the request from clients. We have implemented a test network based on real commercial networks and measured the performance of the proposed caching scheme in terms of frames per second (FPS) and buffering time. According to the performance measurement results, the proposed caching scheme can reduce the average buffering time by 73.3% compared to the conventional streaming scheme. In addition, the proposed caching scheme can also improve the average FPS by 71.3% compared to the conventional streaming scheme.
