Growth Promotion in Red Pepper and Tomato Seedlings by Fermented Liquid Fertilizers and Elution of Mineral Nutrients by Extraction Methods (발효액비별 고추와 토마토 육묘 생육 촉진 및 추출방법별 무기양분 용출)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine which fermented liquid fertilizer and application method yields the greatest amount of growth in red pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum MILL.) plants. Additionally, we investigated which extraction methods produce the most effective fertilizer with the highest levels of mineral nutrients. The liquid fertilizers used in this study were made from fish, bone and fish meal, red pepper leaves, and oil cake, and were extracted using fermentation or water and boiled water. In tomato plants, foliar-application of fermented fertilizer is known to promote more growth than application by drenching, regardless of the number of treatments (once or twice). In our studies, however, drenching with fertilizer promoted growth more effectively than foliar-application in red pepper plants. Studies in both tomato and red pepper have shown that the number of treatments does not significantly alter growth. Liquid fertilizers produced by a fermentation-extraction method promoted greater levels of growth in tomato compared to red pepper, and growth was greater when fertilizers were applied 20 (rather than 40) days post-sowing. Red pepper and tomato shoot fresh weight were affected more by fermented fertilizers than plant height 20 days post-sowing. In red pepper, we observed increased shoot fresh weight when using fermented liquid fertilizers with concentrations of 0.1% or greater. Tomato shoot fresh weight increased similarly in response to fermented fertilizer treatments at the same concentration levels, except those derived from fish. Fermented fish liquid fertilizer was only effective in increasing tomato shoot fresh weight in concentrations exceeding 1%. Red pepper and tomato shoot fresh weight also increased more than plant height in our studies using fermentation liquid fertilizers at 40 days after sowing. Red pepper fresh weight increased with application of bone + fish meal, red pepper leaf, and oil cake fertilizers at concentrations of 0.1%, but not with fish liquid fertilizer in concentrations under 0.5%. Shoot fresh weight in tomato increased with all liquid fertilizers. Growth in red pepper and tomato may be influenced by different kinds of fertilizers due to combinations of macro- and micro-nutrients, or specific macro-nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphoric acid, and potassium. The mineral nutrients found in fish, bone and fish meal, red pepper leaves, and oil cake were not easily extracted by fermentation; thus, liquid fertilizers made using water and boiled water methods more effectively promoted growth in red pepper and tomato due to the larger amounts of macronutrients eluted.

  • When L, bulgurzcus KFCC 35462 and S. uvarum KFCC 32021 were mixed cultured in soymilk, gorwth of L. bulgaricus was stimulated with growth of S. uvarunz little affected. Cultured in soymilk singly, L. bulgaricus produced only 0.07%) of acids. S. uvarum, cultured singly, produced 0.40% of ethanol and 0.18% of acids. Mixed culture of both produced 0.27% of acids and 0.42% of ethanol. Thus. S. uvarurrz was not much affected in growth and ethanol fermentation by L. bulgariccus, while L, bulgarzcus was stimulated by Sacch. uvarunz in growth but not in acid fermentation.

가루녹차가 요구르트 균주의 증식에 미치는 영향

  • 본 연구는 가루녹차를 첨가한 기능성 요구르트를 개발하기 위한 기초 연구로 가루녹차의 농도별 첨가가 요구르트 균주의 증식 및 산 생성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 단독균주의 경우 가루녹차의 첨가 농도를 달리하였을 때 Streptococcus thermophilus와 Lactobacillus casei는 가루녹차 첨가에 의해 증식 효과는 아주 미비하였으나 억제 효과가 나타나지 않았으며, Lactobacillus acidophilus는 배양 9시간부터 가루녹차 첨가구에서 대조구에 비해 높은 균수를 보이며 약간의 생육 촉진 효과를 보였고, 배양 12시간부터 pH가 하락하였으며 적정산도는 상승하였다. 그러나 가루녹차의 첨가량에 따른 생육과 산 생성 정도에 미치는 영향의 차이는 뚜렷하지 않았다. 혼합균주의 경우 단독균주로 배양하였을 때보다 가루녹차에 의한 유산균의 증식이 촉진되며, pH 저하와 적정산도 상승이 뚜렷하였다. 따라서 가루녹차 첨가 기능성 요구르트 제조 시 가루녹차를 0.5%${\sim}$l.0% 첨가하여 유산균을 혼합균주로 사용하는 것이 이들 유산균의 증식에 가장 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

  • Enforcing germination to the premature seed green vernalization under constant vitalux-A illumination and exposing to higher room temperature during ripening stage, were successively applied during wheat and barley raising for the sake of the accelerating generation advancement in greenhouse. By application of this method, the winter habit variety 'Buheung' required only 77 days for 1 generation and could raise 4.5 generations during one year. one year.

  • In order to find out the effects of light quality on seedling growth. 6 rice varieties were grown under the 7 different films for 30 days. Under the blue films (PVC-B20 and PVC-UVC 400-B15), chlorophyll content and nitrogen concentration were higher than those under the other films. Plant height and third leaf sheath growth were suppressed under the blue films, while stimulated under the red film.

  • Trametes versicolor, a common inhabitant of dead hardwoods in temperate climates, belongs to one of the important medicinal mushrooms. In this study, spent coffee ground(SCG), instant coffee powder(ICP) and instant decaffeinated coffee powder(IDCP) were examined for their effect on the mycelial growth of T. versicolor. Adding SCG was proven to be significantly beneficial at the concentration as high as 10%. ICP and IDCP, both containing concentrated polyphenols, were also beneficial at low concentration less than 1%. 1% SCG culture resulted in ten-fold increased yield of dry cell mass compared to the control culture. Adding coffee substances was recommended as a useful tool for accelerating the growth and strengthening the physiological activity of the mycelium.

  • This study was carried out to obtain basic information for environment of native area and growth characteristics under various mulching materials in Dendropanox morbifera $\textrm{L}_{EV}$, Dendropax c morbifera was grown wild at Wando area, particularly, distribution frequency was high at 20 to 280 meters above the sea level, and configuration of the ground of native area descended slowly toward the southeast. The soil characteristics of native area was pH 5.3-5.5, 8.8-9.5% in organic matter content and 19.8-22.0% in soil moisture. Growth of Dendropanox morbifera $\textrm{L}_{EV}$, was accelerated by transparent polyethylene film and black polyethylene film mulched.

Suppressive Effect of Water Extract from Spent Mushroom Substrate of Pleurotus eryngii against Tomato Bacterial Wilt Disease (큰느타리 수확 후 배지 물 추출물의 토마토 풋마름병 억제)

  • Water extract from spent mushroom substrate (WESMS) of Pleurotus eryngii suppressed bacterial wilt disease of tomato caused by Ralstonia solanacearum by 70% without any direct antibacterial activity against the pathogen. WESMS-treated tomato had increased contents of free phenolic compounds (increased by 3%) and total salicylic acid (increased by 75%), and significantly enhanced plant height, leaf number, and fresh weight compared to those of a water-treated tomato sample. These results suggest that the treatment of tomato with WESMS can suppress bacterial wilt disease by enhancing plant defense factors and overall plant health.

Evaluation of Bacillus subtilis Native Strains for Plant Growth Promotion and Induced Systemic Resistance in Tomato and Red-pepper (토마토, 고추의 생육촉진 및 병 저항성 의 농업적 활용을 위한 토착 Bacillus subtilis의 생물활성 평가)

  • Bacillus subtilis strains isolated from different regions of Korea were screened for their plant growth promotion and induced systemic resistance (ISR) in tomato and red-pepper. The plant growth promotion on red-pepper and tomato revealed maximum plant height (22.73 cm) on red pepper treated with B. subtilis strain JE 21-1 and 30.18cm in case of tomato treated with B. subtilis strain JE 8-1. There was also significant improvement in root and shoot dry weight in both the plants. The strain JE 21-1 showed better promise for all growth parameters in red-pepper and tomato when compared to other strains and positive check BTH. Different strains screened in square plate method also revealed maximum plant height and leaf width, and suppressed anthracnose on red pepper in case of strain JE 21-1 at $10^6$ and $10^7$ cells/ml when compared to other strains. In all the bacterial inoculations the population was significantly high when compared to untreated check. In plant growth promotion with respect to fruit length and weight, fruit length was maximal in treating with JE 9-4 and ES 2-2, while fruit weight was maximal in treating with JE 3-6, ES4-2, ES2-2 and JE 21-2 on red pepper. In case of tomato, comparatively better fruit weight was in JE 21-1, ES 3-3 and JE 10-2 when compared to BTH and untreated control. The soft rot disease caused by Pectobacterium carotovorum SCCI was completely suppressed in case of transgenic tobacco harboring GUS gene related to PR1a and increased the level of salicylic acid significantly in combined application of JE 9-4 on par with BTH. Thus, this study clarified some potential Bacillus subtilis strains for plant growth promotion and ISR in red-pepper and tomato.

Application of Liquid Amino-fertilizer for Greenup Promotion during Spring Season (Greenup 촉진을 위한 액상아미노산비료의 사용)

  • We were investigated turf color and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to affect greenup promotion of 38 cultivar in 5 species for spring season, most popularly used in Korea golf courses. Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.), tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb), creeping bentrgass (Agrostis palustris Huds), perennial ryegrass (Lolium parenne L.) and zoysiagrass (Zoysia spp.) cultivar had higher leaf color for greenup promotion in Ami, Amx and Oligo than Con treatment and there were also significantly difference among treatments. Turfgrass NDVI also showed significant difference among cultivars in species. Spray of Ami, Amx and Oligo has the higher value of turf NDVI than Con. Based on our results, green up fast during spring season may affected much more with application of Ami, Amx and Oligo than Con.
