  • Environment-friendly design becomes one of the main issues of the contemporary design. It has been developed with the advent of the organic view of the wend. It started as the environment-protective orientation and then enlarged its boundary including the designs which aims to revive the organic relationship between human and nature. Recent design approach in environment design emphasizes to be 'synchronized with the nature' and its basic attitude is the revival of the right relationship between man and nature. It also can be described as the design for Green Amenity. This paper researches on the concepts, types and the roles of the environmentally-friendly design. There are two basic concepts : one is environment-protective attitude and the other is the attitude which emphasizes the function of Green Amenity. This paper focuses on the latter approach. Through the analysis of the necessity and the function of the environmentally-friendly design, it aims to prove the fact that valuable human life need the design which connects human life aye with natural environment.

  • 1. 서론 : 생물기술이 급속히 발전함에 따라 다양한 생물제품들(예, 단백질, 효소, 항생제 등)이 생산되고 있으나, 그 생산량은 극단적으로는 기질용액 1g당 10$^{-8}$g 정도로까지 낮아, 이를 고순도로 정제하기 위해서는 다단계의 공정이 필요하여 분리정제의 비용이 크다. 따라서 생물제품의 산업적 생산이 경제성을 갖기 위해서는 생물제품을 보다 경제적으로 분리정제할 수 있는 효율적인 공정개발이 필수적이다. (생략)

Developmental Study on the Argentaffin and Argyrophile Cells in the Gastroinestinal Mucosae of Rana nigromaculata (개구리(Rana nigromaculata) 위장관 점막내의 은친화성 세포와 은호성 세포에 대한 발생학적 연구)

  • This experiment was performed in order to study the morphological changes of the argentaffin and argyrophile cells in the gastrointestinal mucosae of Rana nigromaclata during development. The specimens from the stomach and the small intestine at different developmental stages were fixed in neutral 10% formalin, sectioned at a thickness of 3 microns, and impregnated by Masson's method for argentaffin cells and by Bodian's method for argyrophile cells. The results of observation were as follows: 1. In the stomach, the argentaffin cells appeared at XIII stage of metamorphosis and the argyrophile cells at X stage and they rapidly increased in number at XXV stage. 2. In the small intestine, the argentaffin cells appeared at XXV stage of metamorphosis and the argyrophile cells at XVII stage and they rapidly increased in number at XXV stage. 3. The argentaffin and argyrophile cells in the gastrointestinal mucosae, appeared prior to forming gastrointestinal mucosal fold following to development of muscle layer. 4. The rapid numeral increase of the argentaffin and argyrophile cells in the last stage of metamorphosis would be due to ecological changes and differentiations of gastrointestinal mucoae in amphilbia.

  • 근래들어 생물기술이 급속히 발전함에 따라 생물반응을 통해 다양한 생물제품들의 생산이 이루어지고 있다. 생물반응에 의한 생물제품들의 생산량은 극단적으로는 기질 1g당 10$^{-8}$g 정도로서 극히 낮아 이를 상업제품이 요구하는 순도(95 %이상)로 까지 정제하기 위해서는 여러 단계를 거치는 복잡하고 지루한 분리.정제 과정이 필요하며, 이 분리.정제의 후류공정(downstream process)비용이 생물제품 생산비의 상당부분을 점유케 되어 생물공정의 경제성을 낮게 한다. 따라서 생물공정을 이용한 생물제품 생산이 산업적으로 경제성을 갖기 위해서는 생물제품을 보다 효율적.경제적으로 분리.정제할 수 있는 후류공정의 확립이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 산업적 규모로 생산되는 생물제품들을 효율적으로 분리.정제하는데 응용 가능한 방법의 하나로서 관심의 대상이 되고 있는 책체 크로마트그래피 기법을 연구의 대상으로 하였다.

  • Development of alternative energy is needed as the fossil is started to be exhausted. This alternative energy should be environmental friendly and renewable. Currently, the alternative energy which gets the most attraction is hydrogen. Hydrogen can be produced by a number of different processes. Among those methods, hydrogen production in biological way is considered as the most environmental friendly method. However, productivity of biological hydrogen production is not good enough to be commercialized yet. Thus, many researchers are trying to improve productivity and yield of biohydrogen production. Here, progress in the diverse developmental approaches on biological hydrogen production, is reviewed.

Kinetics of Photocatalytic Reactions with Porous Carriers Coated with Nano-$TiO_2$ Particles (나노-$TiO_2$ 입자로 코팅된 다공성 담체의 광촉매 반응에 관한 동력학)

  • Toxic and recalcitrant organic pollutants in wastewaters can be effectively treated when advanced oxidation and biodegradation are combined, ideally with intimate coupling, in which both processes occur simultaneously in the same system. One means to achieve intimate coupling is to coat nanoscale $TiO_2$ on the outside of macroporous biofilm carriers. This study investigated the kinetics of photocatalysis with $TiO_2$-coated porous carriers. The carriers were made of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and coated with $TiO_2$ using a low-temperature sol-gel process. The $TiO_2$-coated carriers catalyzed the oxidation of methylene blue (MB) effectively under irradiation of UV light. The overall reaction rate with adsorption and photolysis saturated at high MB concentration, and approached the adsorption rate, which was first order for all MB concent rations. This result indicates that adsorbed MB may have slowed photocatalysis by blocking active sites for photocatalysis. The overall kinetics could be described by a quasi-Langmuir model. The estimated maximum specific (per unit mass of $TiO_2$) transformation rate of MB by the $TiO_2$-coated carriers was four times larger than that obtained from slurry-$TiO_2$ reactors. This observation demonstrated that the $TiO_2$ present as a coating on the carriers maintained high efficiency for transforming recalcitrant organic matter via photocatalysis. These findings serve as a foundation for advancement of an intimate coupling of photocatalysis to biodegradation.

Preparation and Stability Measurement of Liposome-amino Acid Conjugates (리포솜-아미노산 결합체의 제조와 안정성 측정)

  • Liposome-amino acid conjugates were prepared using phopholipid (dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (DPPC) or distearoylph-osphatidylcholine(DSPC)) and hydrophobically modified amino acids (glutamic acid(glu), glutamine(gln) or asparagine(asn)). The size of liposomes was about 100 nm. According to the glucose-induced turbidity changes, liposomes composed of DPPC and glutamic acid have higher glucose binding affinity than liposomes of DPPC-glutamine or DPPC-asparagine. Also, the liposomes were more stable in terms of aggregation or fusion than the others (DPPC-glutamine, DPPC-asparagine and DSPC-amino acids). As a rdsult, stable liposomes with an affinity for glucose could be prepared with DPPC and glutamic acid.
