R-trees are widely used in various areas such as geographical information systems, CAD systems and spatial databases in order to efficiently index multi-dimensional data. As data sets used in these areas grow in size and complexity, however, range query operations on R-tree are needed to be further faster to meet the area-specific constraints. To address this problem, there have been various research efforts to develop strategies for acceleration query processing on R-tree by using the buffer mechanism or parallelizing the query processing on R-tree through multiple disks and processors. As a part of the strategies, approaches which parallelize query processing on R-tree through Graphics Processor Units(GPUs) have been explored. The use of GPUs may guarantee improved performances resulting from faster calculations and reduced disk accesses but may cause additional overhead costs caused by high memory access latencies and low data exchange rate between GPUs and the CPU. In this paper, to address the overhead problems and to adapt GPUs efficiently, we propose a novel approach which uses a GPU as a buffer to parallelize query processing on R-tree. The use of buffer algorithm can give improved performance by reducing the number of disk access and maximizing coalesced memory access resulting in minimizing GPU memory access latencies. Through the extensive performance studies, we observed that the proposed approach achieved up to 5 times higher query performance than the original CPU-based R-trees.

The web as global network includes text document, video, sound, etc and connects each distributed information using link Through development of web, it accumulates abundant information and the main is text based documents. Most of user use the web to retrieve information what they want. So, numerous researches have progressed to retrieve the text documents using the many methods, such as probability, statistics, vector similarity, Bayesian, and so on. These researches however, could not consider both the subject and the semantics of documents. As a result user have to find by their hand again. Especially, it is more hard to find the korean document because the researches of korean document classification is insufficient. So, to overcome the previous problems, we propose the korean document classification method for semantic retrieval. This method firstly, extracts TF value and RV value of concepts that is included in document, and maps into U-WIN that is korean vocabulary dictionary to select the topic of document. This method is possible to classify the document semantically and showed the efficiency through experiment.
Some flowers have a high sensual appeal owing to their unique shape, color, smell, and taste and have been used as functional food and oriental medicine. Recently, edible dry flowers (EDFs) have attracted social attention as noble sources of functional teas. In this study, for the risk assessment of EDFs, pathogenic bacteria, heavy metals, and pesticide residues were monitored in 23 types of commercial EDF. No Enterobacteria spp. and Listeria spp. were found in all EDF products. However, common aerobic bacteria (3.24~3.85 Log CFU/g) were found in EDF, namely, Pueraria lobata, Chamaemelum nobile, Acacia decurrens, Rhododendron mucronulatum Turcz, Oenothera lamarckiana, Brassica napus, and Prunus serrulata. Staphylococcus aureus was found in 11 and Salmonella sp. was found in 8 of the 23 EDFs. Considering the cold extraction of EDF for tea and beverages, the regulation of pathogenic bacteria in EDFs is necessary. No heavy metals such as Pb, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, and As were found in all EDFs, except the dry flower of Hemerocallis fulva, which contained Pb at 0.08 ppm. Different pesticides and fungicides were found in EDFs, but their concentrations were very low (0.01~0.08 ppm) and below the maximal residue level. Only the dry flower of Chrysanthemum morifolium had a high content of chlorpyrifos (0.215 ppm), which is long-lasting pesticide. Our results suggest that the establishment of EDF regulations for pesticide residue, culture separation between edible and garden flowers, and guidelines for preventing pathogenic microbial contamination are necessary.
Flammulina velutipes is the representative edible mushroom in Korea. It makes up around 18% of the total mushroom production and accounts for about 36% of the total mushroom export. Despite being one of the most industrially important mushroom in Korea, the distribution rate of domestic cultivar was low (~31.6%) in 2020. Therefore, we need a new domestic cultivar with high quality as the main export mushroom. We developed a new white domestic cultivar, 'Seolhan', bred by mating two monokaryotic strains isolated from Baekseung and Woori-1ho. The optimum mycelial growth temperature was 25℃ and Seolhan had higher mycelial growth than the control at 20 and 25℃. In bottle cultivation, the optimum temperature of incubation was from 15℃ to 17℃ and the growth temperature of Seolhan was 7-8℃, which was slightly higher than that of the control. The yield of Seolan was 226.5±8.0 g, an increase of 18.4% compared to the control. The period of primodia formation also was a couple of days ahead. In morphological traits, the pileus of Seolhan was smaller than that of the control, the stipe was thicker, and the color brighter. As the results of replacement culture and genetic diversity test, it was confirmed that Seolhan was genetically different from other white varieties.

Mt. Neoseongsan (NSS) is the only natural Neorok source in Korea. The geological, historical, and cultural values of NSS were recognized in 2013, and NSS has since been designated and maintained as a natural monument (No. 547), which has restricted the research and utilization of NSS Neorok. The limited NSS Neorok supply has hindered the restoration research of traditional pigments. Recently, a large amount of Neorok has been mined from Mt. Gwangeongsan (GJS) and is expected to be the main supply source of Neorok for restoring traditional pigments. Therefore, this study analyzed the characteristics of NSS- and GJS-Neorok-based pigments to evaluate the feasibility of substituting GJS Neorok for NSS Neorok in pigments. The NSS Neorok was mostly comprised of celadonite, whereas the GJS Neorok included minerals containing glassy phases such as celadonite, cristobalite, tridymite, etc. Because both Neorok samples were vitrified under identical conditions, the GJS Neorok grains were larger than the NSS Neorok ones. The GJS Neorok pigment showed that the chromaticity, grain size, oil absorption, and stability varied depending on the mineral types and contents. In particular, GJS-2 and NSS Neorok showed similar mineral compositions, physical properties, and stabilities, suggesting that GJS-2 can be substituted for NSS Neorok, which has been difficult to source and utilize ever since NSS was designated as a natural monument.

Although traffic signal installations are continuously expanding, the effect of preventing traffic accidents remains unverified. Totally, 7,045 traffic accident data (such as signal violations) registered with TCS were manually searched for a 7-year period from 2013 to 2019 for 1,602 traffic signals in Daejeon Metropolitan City. The top 20 traffic accident intersections were identified, the traffic accident investigation records and field maps were viewed to compare the driving direction and signal phase of the violated vehicle, and the cause of the traffic accident was divided into insufficient signal operation design (operation) and driver negligence (intentional). Results of the analysis revealed that 75% of traffic accidents occurred in thru-left-turn traffic signals and overlap; moreover, extending the yellow time or operating all red signals due to countermeasures against traffic accidents occurring in yellow signals resulted in reduced traffic accidents. Data indicated that Permissive Left Turn requires improvement with the signal operation. In addition, since The Korean National Police Agency is not computerized for traffic accident sites and signal-related data, the lack of manpower necessitates improvement and utilization of TCS when establishing traffic accident prevention measures. It is believed that it will contribute to signal operation by analyzing vast amounts of data collected in the field and presenting improvement measures.
The Cheonjeon-ri petroglyph is inscribed with shale formation belonging to the Daegu Formation of the Gyeongsang Supergroup in the Cretaceous of the Mesozoic Era. This rock undergoes thermal alteration to become hornfels, and has a high hardness and dense texture. Rock-forming minerals have almost the same composition as quartz, alkali felspar, plagioclase, calcite, mica, chlorite and opaque minerals, but calcite is rarely detected in the weathered zone. The petroglyph forms a weathered zone with a certain depth, and there is a difference in mineral and chemical composition between weathered and unweathered zones, respectively. The CaO contents of the weathered zone were reduced by more than 90% compared to that of the unweathered zone, because calcite reacted with water and dissolved. As a result of calculating the surface weathering depth for the petroglyph with the transmission characteristics of X-rays, depth of the parts in falling off and exfoliation showed a depth of about 0.5 to 1 mm, but the weathering depth in most areas was calculated to be about 3 to 4 mm. This can be proved by the contents and changes of Ca and Sr. The surface discolorations of the petroglyph are distributed with different color density, and the yellowish brown discoloration is alternated with a thin biofilm layer, showing a coverage of 79.6%. Therefore, periodic preservation managements and preventive conservation monitoring that can effectively control the physicochemical and biological damages of the Cheonjeonri petroglyph will be necessary.
The data from Geostationary Ocean Color Imager-II (GOCI-II), which observes the color of the sea to monitor marine environments, undergoes various correction processes in the ground station system, producing data from Raw to Level-2 (L2). Quality issues arising at each processing stage accumulate step by step, leading to an amplification of errors in the satellite data. To address this, improvements were made to the GOCI-II ground station system to measure potential optical quality and geolocation accuracy errors in the Level-1A/B (L1A/B) data. A newly established Radiometric and Geometric Performance Assessment Module (RGPAM) now measures five optical quality factors and four geolocation accuracy factors in near real-time. Testing with GOCI-II data has shown that RGPAM's functions, including data processing, display and download of measurement results, work well. The performance metrics obtained through RGPAM are expected to serve as foundational data for real-time radiometric correction model enhancements, assessment of L1 data quality consistency, and the development of reprocessing strategies to address identified issues related to the GOCI-II detector's sensitivity degradation.

Corrosion inside electronic packages significantly impacts the system performance and reliability, necessitating non-destructive diagnostic techniques for system health management. This study aims to present a non-destructive method for assessing corrosion in copper interconnects using the Smith chart, a tool that integrates the magnitude and phase of complex impedance for visualization. For the experiment, specimens simulating copper transmission lines were subjected to temperature and humidity cycles according to the MIL-STD-810G standard to induce corrosion. The corrosion level of the specimen was quantitatively assessed and labeled based on color changes in the R channel. S-parameters and Smith charts with progressing corrosion stages showed unique patterns corresponding to five levels of corrosion, confirming the effectiveness of the Smith chart as a tool for corrosion assessment. Furthermore, by employing data augmentation, 4,444 Smith charts representing various corrosion levels were obtained, and artificial intelligence models were trained to output the corrosion stages of copper interconnects based on the input Smith charts. Among image classification-specialized CNN and Transformer models, the ConvNeXt model achieved the highest diagnostic performance with an accuracy of 89.4%. When diagnosing the corrosion using the Smith chart, it is possible to perform a non-destructive evaluation using electronic signals. Additionally, by integrating and visualizing signal magnitude and phase information, it is expected to perform an intuitive and noise-robust diagnosis.
