Strategy and Application of Phased Context Teaching-Learning for Helping Physics Learning (물리 학습을 돕기 위한 단계적 상황 교수·학습 전략 및 적용)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of physics learning through the teaching-learning strategy of phased context in introductory physics classes. The participants in the study included 35 university freshmen. The teaching-learning strategy of phased context were developed by idealizing, extending and comparing contexts which were then applied in introductory physics classes : six hour classes about straight line motion, two-dimensional motion and Newton's laws of motion. The effects of the physics learning were then analyzed by the FCI (Force Concept Inventory) and MPEX (Maryland Survey on Physics Expectation) questionnaires. The results showed that the teaching-learning strategy of phased context helped change the force concept and did not change the belief about physics learning. Finally, based on the results of the study, we discuss possible educational implications for phased context in introductory physics classes.

  • 최근에 베이지안 통계학은 경제 경영 그리고 의학 뿐 만 아니라 공학 등의 많은 분야에서 그 응용의 정도가 급속히 증가하는 추세이다. 그러나 베이지안 추론 또는 법칙들이 이론적으로 간단하지만 많은 경우 계산상에 어려움 때문에 실제 적용에 어려움이 있다 이러한 상황을 극복하기 위해 간단한 통계 패키지 프로그램인 미니텝을 이용한 여러 가지 적용 방법을 알아본다. 또한 미니탭 매크로의 사용을 원활히 적용함으로써 보다 발전적으로 베이지안 통계 계산을 용이하게 할 수 있다

The Effects of Conflict Situation Types on Inducing Students' Cognitive Conflicts in Newton's Laws (뉴턴 운동법칙에 관한 문제에서 갈등상황의 유형이 학생들의 인지적 갈등 유발에 미치는 영향)

  • A learner's cognitive conflict with his /her existing conception is regarded to be one of the most important factors for a conceptual change. In this study, the effects of the conflict situation types on inducing students' cognitive conflicts in Newton's law were examined. The thirty-four students of 10th grade were selected from a rural high school based on the result of pre-test. The two different types of conflict situations among many possible types were used in this study. One type was using logical conflict situation and the other was demonstrating real conflict situation. The levels of cognitive conflict were measured by 4-point Likert scale by three interviewers. As the results, the demonstration method was more effective than the logical argument method. In case of the logical argument method, rather than showing scientific conceptions, suggesting another misconception was more effective to the students who have misconception. However, logical argument method was not effective to those who have scientfic conceptions. To the students who have unscientific conceptions, the demonstration method was very effective for inducing cognitive conflict. From the results of this study, demonstration method of teaching seems to be very effective for inducing students' cognitive conflict and overcoming their misconceptions on scientific concept.

Pitch-axis Maneuver of UAVs by Adaptive Control Approach (무인항공기의 적응제어 법칙을 이용한 피치 기동 연구)

  • This study addresses adaptive control of UAVs(Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) pitch-axis maneuver. The MRAC(Model Referenced Adaptive Control) approach is employed to accommodate uncertainties which are introduced by feedback linearization of pitch attitude control by elevator input. The model uncertainty is handled by adaptation laws which update model parameters while the UAV is under control by the feedback control law. Steady-state pitch attitude achieved by the stabilizing control law is derived to provide insight on the closed-loop behavior of the controlled system. The proposed idea is free of linearization, gain-scheduling procedures, so that one can design high maneuverability of UAVs for pitching motion in the presence of significant model uncertainty.

  • When control surface failure occurs, it is conventional to correct a current control or to transform to other control. In this paper, instead of adopting a conventional way, a reconfiguration method which compensate the failure with alternative control surface deflection, depending on the level of failure, by using neural network and PCH(Pseudo-Control Hedging). The Conroller is designed of inner-loop(SCAS : Stability Command Augmentation System) with DMI(Dynamic Model Inversion) and outer-loop with Y axis acceleration feedback for a coordinate turn. Additionally, double PCH method was adopted to prevent actuator saturation and input command was generated to compensate for failure. At the end, The feasibility of the method is validated with randomly selected failure scenarios.

The Effects of Discussion Learning Using 'Concept Cartoons' on Middle School Students' Learning Attitude and Achievement (개념 만화를 이용한 토의학습이 중학생들의 과학 학습 태도와 학업 성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this modern society, the students should be able to recognize problems for themselves, and search the information which is valuable for them, and apply and utilize it. For these, we analyzed the effect of the discussion learning using the concept cartoons on the students' learning attitude and achievement. Even though there was no meaningful difference in the achievement between the experimental group and the control group, it was found that the discussion learning using the concept cartoons could be one of the ways that improve the students' problem solving ability. The fact that there was the significant affirmative effect on the students' positiveness when they were solving the problems was also found.

  • 일반적으로 성리학에서는 개인의 이익보다 도덕적 선택을 우선하라고 요구한다. 그러나 "주역"에서는 결코 이익을 죄악시 하지 않는다. 이 글은 성리학자이면서 역학자인 주자의 이익과 도덕에 대한 입장을 추적하는 연구이다. 주자가 소옹의 결정론적 세계관과 도덕적 자유의지를 강조하는 이천의 관점을 결합함으로써 완성하고자 한 것은 "주역"의 서(筮) 속에서 리(理)를 확인할 수 있다는 것이었다. 점서(占筮)의 결과가 그렇게 나오는 것은 그에 해당하는 이치가 있기 때문이라는 말이다. 그런데 "주역"의 리(理) 즉 역리(易理)란 오랜 경험과 관찰을 통해 확보된 사회적 존재로서 인간의 심리적 행위적 경향성의 총합이다. 그리고 그 구체적인 내용은 바로 상황적 합리성과 타자와의 조화로움이다. 이 리(理)는 우주와 사회의 정해진 질서로서 우리에게 주어진다. 개인은 이 주어진 질서에 따를 수 있는 자유와 함께 따르지 않을 수 있는 자유를 지닌다. 때문에 정해진 질서와 그 속에서의 개인의 자유의지는 양립가능한 것으로 받아들여지고, 그런 의미에서 주자는 약한 결정론자라고 할 수 있다. 성리학은 우주의 질서로부터 부여받은 당위의 법칙에 자발적으로 동의할 것을 요구한다. 그것이 가장 올바른 선택이면서 동시에 자신에게 가장 이로운 선택이기 때문이다. 주자는 상황적 합리성과 타자와의 조화로운 관계에서만이 자신의 진정한 이익을 추구할 수 있다고 생각한다. 타자와의 유기적 관계를 부정하고 유아적(唯我的) 이익만 추구하려는 자는, 사회적 존재로서 인간이 지니는 심리적 행위적 경향성을 무시한 어리석은 자이다. 이렇게 주자에게서 이익[리(利)]은 상황적 합리성[의(宜)]이 되고 또 그것은 바로 도덕[의(義)]이 된다. 참다운 의미에서의 합리적인 판단은 도덕적 선택을 불러온다.

International Comparison of Junior High School Science Textbooks (중학교 과학 교과서의 국제 비교)

  • This study compared junior high school science textbooks(for grade $7{\sim}9$) of the USA, Australia, Japan, and Korea. Specifically, the amount and pattern of knowledge, process skills, activities, contexts, nature of science, and integration topics were compared in terms of country, grade, and content. The results of analysis are as follow: 1) Physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science were equally distributed in textbooks of Korea and Japan. In Korean textbooks, "law" was more emphasized compared with other countries' textbooks. 2) The most popular process skills were proportion and controlling variables in Korea's textbooks. Correlation, cause/effect, and proportion in Japan's textbooks. Controlling variables and data transformation in textbooks of USA and Australia. 3) Experiment and observation were the most popular activities in textbooks of Korea, Japan, and Australia. In textbooks of the USA, observation, experiment, survey, practice, and measurement activities were used evenly. 4) In textbooks of Korea and Japan, pure science and natural environment contexts were the most popular. 5) There was no chapter dealing with nature of science in textbooks of Korea and Japan. 6) Integration topics between science and technology were the most popular. Based on these findings, several implications on Korean science textbooks were discussed.
