An Architecture for Testing the Interoperability among Defense Weapon Systems Software (국방 무기체계 소프트웨어의 상호운용성 시험 아키텍처)

  • The importance of interoperability in modem warfare has been increasing ever since. Korean Ministry of National Defense has constructed and used the Systems Interoperability Test & Evaluation System in order to evaluate level of interoperability among defense information systems. However, as primary targets of SITES were information systems, there is limitation to be applied to weapon systems. This paper proposes an interoperability testing architecture and interoperability testing configuration items which encompass various aspects of interoperability testing. We developed a prototype which proved that the proposal can be realized and useful.

A Study on Assessment Model of Interoperability in Weapon Systems based on LISI (LISI 기반의 무기체계 상호운용성 평가모델에 관한 연구)

  • There are many demands for interoperability between weapon systems as the operational needs for joint and coalition based on network in modern and future warfare have been increasingly needed. In DoD, LISI has been applied throughout information system life cycle from the planning phase to the development phase to assess the level of interoperability. We also developed SITES which is a tool to assess the level of interoperability in information systems. But we should extend the assessment model from the previous information systems to the weapon systems to assess the level of interoperability including weapon systems as well as information systems. In this paper, we proposed the assessment model of interoperability, implemented the E-SITE based on the proposed model, applied 12 weapon systems and analyzed the experimental result.

An Interpretation of Interoperability Definitions Using Association Rules Discovery (연관성 규칙 탐사를 이용한 상호운용성 정의의 해석)

  • Lately, developing systems fully interoperable with others is considered an essential element for successful projects, as not only do e-commerce becomes ubiquitous but also distributed systems' paradigm spreads. However, since definitions of interoperability vary by viewpoints, it is still difficult to have the same understanding and evaluation criteria on interoperability. For instance, various interoperability parties in military use different definitions of interoperability, and its T&E is not conducted according to the definition, but only to levels of information exchange. In this paper, we proposed a new definition of interoperability as followsm First of all, we collected existing and various interoperability definitions, extracting key components in each of them. Second, we statistically analyzed those components and applied the association rules discovery in data mining. We compared existing interoperability definitions to ours. From this research, we found associations among the components from various definitions applying market-basketanalysis, redefining interoperability. Key findings of this research can contribute to a unified viewpoint on the definition, level, and evaluation items of interoperability.

  • 지휘통제, 전략전술, 물자관리 등 다양한 분야에서 사용되는 국방정보시스템들은 필요에 따라 원활하게 상호운용 되어야 군 정보화 효과를 극대화할 수 있다. 이 논문은 정보시스템 상호운용 수준(LISI)에 의거해서 국방정보시스템 간의 상호운용 능력을 전자설문 방식으로 측정하고 테스팅을 통해서 확인하는 기법을 제시한다. 제시된 전자설문 기법은 구현옵션 집합과 질의문을 이용해서 정보시스템 간의 잠재적 상호운용 수준을 측정한다. 반면에 테스팅 기법은 전자설문을 통해서 결정된 두 정보시스템 간의 잠재적인 상호운용 수준을 분산 소프트웨어 테스팅 기법을 사용하여 실질적으로 측정한다. 마지막으로 제시된 전자설문 기법과 테스팅 기법을 바탕으로 개발된 상호운용성 평가도구를 소개하고 적용결과를 제시한다.

Evaluation method for interoperability of weapon systems applying natural language processing techniques (자연어처리 기법을 적용한 무기체계의 상호운용성 평가방법)

  • The current weapon system is operated as a complex weapon system with various standards and protocols applied, so there is a risk of failure in smooth information exchange during combined and joint operations on the battlefield. The interoperability of weapon systems to carry out precise strikes on key targets through rapid situational judgment between weapon systems is a key element in the conduct of war. Since the Korean military went into service, there has been a need to change the configuration and improve performance of a large number of software and hardware, but there is no verification system for the impact on interoperability, and there are no related test tools and facilities. In addition, during combined and joint training, errors frequently occur during use after arbitrarily changing the detailed operation method and software of the weapon/power support system. Therefore, periodic verification of interoperability between weapon systems is necessary. To solve this problem, rather than having people schedule an evaluation period and conduct the evaluation once, AI should continuously evaluate the interoperability between weapons and power support systems 24 hours a day to advance warfighting capabilities. To solve these problems, To this end, preliminary research was conducted to improve defense interoperability capabilities by applying natural language processing techniques (①Word2Vec model, ②FastText model, ③Swivel model) (using published algorithms and source code). Based on the results of this experiment, we would like to present a methodology (automated evaluation of interoperability requirements evaluation / level measurement through natural language processing model) to implement an automated defense interoperability evaluation tool without relying on humans.

  • The robot performs with combined various functional equipments organically. OPRoS (Open Platform for Robotic Services) is a framework to provide integrated development environment to develop an equipment in the form of the component parts to various institutions and developers and to combine them. To ensure the reliable operation of the robot, the developer should test the component can be coupled reliably with other components developed by other developers. First of all, that the search to find components to be coupled with the component meaningfully is necessary. In this paper, we propose the interoperability evaluation system which can find components to be meaningfully coupled with the component to be evaluated.

  • 본 논문은 IEC 61850 기반의 전력IT기기에 대한 시험 및 평가방법에 대해 다루었다. 여러 제조업체에서 제작한 IEC 61850 기반 전력IT기기는 현장과 같은 실제 사이트에서 구성된다. 현장시험(SAT: site acceptance test)은 운전하기 이전에 고객에게 확신을 주기위해 사이트에 설치된 모든 장비에 대해 시험 및 평가를 수행한다. 적합성 시험(conformance test)은 효율적인 현장시험을 위해서 수행해야 한다. 그러나 적합성시험을 통과한 장비일지라도 통합작업, 검수시험 및 운전하는 경우 문제가 발생할 수도 있다. 따라서 통합작업, 검수시험 및 운전하는 경우에 문제점을 최소화하기 위해 적합성시험뿐만 아니라 상호운용성 시험을 수행해야 한다.
