  • As for the current state of college taekwondo athletes' sport injury, times of occurrence and major causes showed differences in weight class and career, while situations of occurrence had differences in grade, weight class, and career. As for the measures to improve their coping ability, first aid showed differences in grade, while prevention of injury had differences in grade and career. Treatment methods turned out to have no differences. For college taekwondo athletes, sport injury occurred during exercise, mostly when they fell. In addition, lack of skill was the greatest major cause of sport injury. As for the sport injury coping ability, ice massage was used as first aid and self-massage was performed. For prevention of injury, sufficient fatigue recovery was considered to be the priority of prevention of injury.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze sports injuries in athletes with disabilities during the 2015 National Games in Korea. We conducted a survey to assess sport injuries in 171 male athletes with disabilities who participated in this study. The shoulder was most frequently injured, followed by the fingers and low back. Contusions were the most common type of injury, and were usually caused by collisions with teammates or contact with equipment. Injuries often occur during enthusiastic play in both competition and practice sessions. Injured athletes are emergently treated with medicated spray and patch application by the head coach. Warm-up and cool-down exercises are recommended to prevent injury, and physical therapy is effective after an injury occurs. Based on these findings, an injury prevention training program and athletic trainers should be provided for athletes with disabilities to ensure appropriate care and rehabilitation.

  • This study was aimed at investigating the activities of a badminton club and designing smart wear to prevent sports injuries during badminton club activities. Everyone is familiar with sports in an aging society and clubs are gradually developing. Popular badminton club activities lead to frequent sports injuries, especially ankle injuries, which are a serious problem that hampers members' participation in sports. Therefore, this study aims to propose a prototype design for smart wear to prevent sports injuries, including ankle injuries. First, we identified the characteristics and considerations of members of badminton clubs, and the components of smart wear to prevent sports injuries. Second, members of the badminton clubs and an elite badminton player participated in a survey on the issues and requirements associated with wearing smart wear. Third, usage scenarios for smart wear were created based on literature reviews and the user assessment lists. Fourth, a prototype of the smart wear to prevent sports injuries including ankle injuries was created based on the scenarios. With the proposed smart wear, members of badminton clubs who may require assistance with sports injuries will be able to monitor said injuries, as well as their health condition, as avatars in visual games through a smart terminal. The visual game system will provide easier access to information about sports injuries and health. This smart sportswear will allow members of badminton clubs to prevent sports injuries and review their performance. This study can be utilized to design smart wear to prevent sports injuries and monitor sporting activities or bio-signals.

  • The study aimed to improve the injury belief, injury prevention behavior, and safety fulfillment confidence of teachers of infants and toddlers in childcare centers. The study subjects were 376 teachers who were assigned to either the intervention group or the control group. The intervention group participated in an Injury Prevention Program for infants and toddlers for 100 minutes once a week for a total of 5 sessions, while the control group did not. The collected data were statistically analyzed through the independent t-test and paired t-test. The injury belief and injury prevention behavior test scores of the teachers in the intervention group were significantly increased compared to those in the control group after the completion of the five-week program.

  • While swimming is a very popular competitive sports activity, swimming injuries are unique due to the repetitive nature of the swimming stroke and demanding training programs that can result in upper limb overuse. Therefore, the primary objective of this review was to analyze swimmers' injury areas, injury types by stroke type, and swimming rehabilitation, as well as to discuss safety management for improving swimming performance. In this study, the injuries incurred in swimming events were discussed in the order of upper limb injuries (neck, shoulder, arm, and wrist), lower limb injuries (knee and ankle), and waist injuries. An analysis by stroke type found that shoulder injuries occurred most often with freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly strokes, followed by rotator cuff injury, impingement syndrome, and SLAP (superior labral tear from anterior to posterior) lesions. Knee injuries were associated with the breaststroke, whereas spinal cord injuries occurred with the breaststroke and butterfly stroke. Finally, back injuries were associated with the butterfly stroke. During the freestyle stroke, the shoulder undergoes repetitive overhead movement; hence, shoulder and musculoskeletal pain are the most common and well-documented complaints of swimmers. For safety management, coaches and instructors must ensure that athletes do sufficient warm-up and cool-down exercises to avoid injuries. In case of an injury, they should be familiar with first aid measures so that secondary damage can be prevented with its quick application. In addition, coaches and instructors need to be trained in injury prevention and treatment so that they can provide appropriate rehabilitation treatment for athletes. Although swimming-related injuries cannot be completely eliminated, to reduce them to a minimum, leaders need the knowledge to apply scientific and systematic training principles and methods individualized for each athlete.

  • In the present study, injuries in Taekwondo athletes during training and competitions was investigated via questionnaire. The purpose of this research lies in encouraging Taekwondo instructors and trainees to take precautions against injuries furnishing a variety of data obtained by analyzing the causes of injuries by region with ones undergoing a training. Understanding how frequently trainees get injured by region. we will be able to promote safety. which is such a meaningful move to improve training condition. The subjects of this study were 413 playes at the gym focusing on South Chungcheong province. Questionnaires for taekwondo players had the results as follows. The research reveals that physical injuries among Taekwondo athletes are caused by various reasons, regardless of sex and grade, and that the injures are repeatedly occurring, Therefore, in order t prevent and minimize the occurrence f injuries among Taekwondo athletes, not only the athletes but also trainers, business administrators, and educators need to pay careful attentions and take necessary measures accordingly. Also, pre-education on precaution against injuries must be put into practice thoroughly and an environment in which the inured could receive swift first aid treatment as well as follow-up measures shall be formed. this, in the end, is expected to contribute in improving not only the health of the athletes but also their performances in matches.
