Effect of Kinesio Taping on Isokinetic Muscular Function and Pain of Knee Joint in Elderly Women (키네시오 테이핑이 고령자의 슬관절 등속성 근 기능 및 통증에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study were to evaluate the effect of kinesio taping on isokinetic muscular function and pain of knee joint. The subjects for this study were twelve elderly women($65{\sim}70$years) suffered by knee joint pain over more than three years. The taping methods performed on 3 times a week for 8 weeks for improvement of isokinetic muscular function. Also, the change of visual analogue scale(VSA) and varval rating scale(VRA) has been measured before and post taping 8 weeks. Paired t-test was performed for data analysis at the 0.05 level of significance. After 8 weeks, the results of the study are as follow; First, peak torque, peak torque % BW, total work and ipsilateral balance ratio were significantly improved. And, work fatigue, visual analogue scale and verval rating scale were decreased significantly after 8 weeks taping. The results suggest that applying kinesio taping on knee joint may improve isokinetic muscular function of elderly women. Therefore kinesio taping method was effective for pain relief and prevention of knee joint pain in the elderly women.

Norm-referenced criteria for strength of the elbow joint for the korean high school baseball players using the isokinetic equipment: (Focusing on seoul and gyeonggi-do) (등속성 장비를 이용하여 한국고교야구선수 주관절 근력 평가기준치 설정: (서울 및 경기도 중심으로))

  • The purpose of this study was to establish norm-referenced criteria for the isokinetic strength of the elbow joint in Korean high school baseball players. Two hundred and one high school baseball players participated in this study, none of whom had any medical problem with their upper limbs. The elbow flexion/extension test was conducted four times at a speed of $60^{\circ}/sec$. The HUMAC NORM (CSMI, USA) system was used to obtain the values of the peak torque and peak torque per body weight. The results were presented as norm-referenced criterion valuesusing the 5-point scale of Cajori which consists of five stages (6.06%, 24.17%, 38.30%, 24.17%, and 6.06%). In the results of this study, the peak torques of the elbow (flexor and extensor?) at an angular velocity of $60^{\circ}/sec$ were $37.88{\pm}8.14Nm$ and $44.59{\pm}11.79Nm$, and the peak torque per body weight of the elbow (flexor and extensor?) were $50.06{\pm}8.66Nm$ and $58.28{\pm}12.84Nm$, respectively. The reference values of the peak torque and peak torque per body weight of the elbow flexor and extensor were setat an angular velocity of $60^{\circ}/sec$. On the basis of the results analyzed in this study, the following conclusions were drawn. There is a lack of proper studies on the elbow joint strength, even though the most common injury in baseball players occurs in the elbow joint. Therefore, we need to establish a standard muscle strength in order to prevent elbow joint injuries and improve their performance. The criteria for the peak torque and peak torque per body weight established here in will provide useful information for high school baseball players, baseball coaches, athletic trainers and sports injury rehabilitation specialists in injury recovery and return to rehabilitation, which can beutilized as objective clinical assessment data.

The Association between Resistance Exercise Frequency, Muscular Strength, and Health-Related Quality of Life in Korean Cancer Patients: The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) 2014-2016 (한국 암환자들의 근력운동 빈도, 근력과 건강관련 삶의 질과의 관계: 국민건강영양조사 2014-2016년)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the association between resistance exercise frequency, muscular strength, and health-related quality of life in Korean cancer patients. We performed complex sample general linear model and logistic regression analysis using data from a total of 647 cancer patients in the 2014~2016 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Participants who were participating in resistance exercise 0~1 day per week had lower EQ-5D index (0.852±0.016 vs. 0.890±0.020; p=0.006) and a significantly higher risk of having problems in mobility (Odd ratio[OR]=4.07; 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.31-12.63) compared to those who were participating in resistance exercise ≥ 5 days per week. Participants with low hand-grip strength had lower EQ-5D index (0.850±0.018 vs. 0.911±0.016; p<0.001) and a significantly higher risk of having problems in mobility (OR=4.94, 95% CI=2.14-11.41), usual activities (OR=5.18, 95% CI=1.56-17.14), and pain/discomfort (OR=2.46, 95% CI=1.33-4.55) compared to those with high hand-grip strength. This study showed that resistance exercise frequency and muscular strength were associated with health-related quality of life in Korean cancer patients.

The effect of circuit weight training on body composition and physical fitness of middle-aged women for 12 week (12주간의 순환근력운동이 중년여성의 신체조성 및 기초체력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12-week circuit weight training on their body composition and physical fitness in middle aged women. A total of 34 subjects of did not have any physical abnormalities or diseases, and the subjects were 12-week circuit weight training. The results of this study were as following : Body composition component examination showed that the body weight, body fat percentage and waist measurement showed differences that were statistically significant. And the physical fitness component examination showed that muscular endurance, flexibility, agility, and cardiovascular endurance showed differences that were statistically significant. But muscular strength and reflexes showed differences that were not statistically significant. These results suggest that the circuit weight-training had an effect on body composition and physical fitness examination results over 12-week. Therefore, we consider that the circuit weight training is recommended to middle-age women to improve body fat percentage and physical strength.

  • 현대사회에 유행처럼 자리잡은 웨이트 트레이닝의 부상률이 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 가장 큰 부상 원인은 '무리한 동작'으로 자신이 수행할 수 있는 운동강도를 인지하지 못하여 근력 유지가 되지 않아 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 근력 유지 실패를 일으키는 원인인 '근피로도'를 검출하여 개인에게 적합한 운동 강도를 찾는 연구를 진행하였다. 그 결과, MNF 기울기 분석을 통해 운동 반복횟수가 증가함에 따라 근피로도가 커지는 것을 확인하였다. 향후, 잡음에 강한 매개변수를 바탕으로 연구가 이어진다면 웨이트 트레이닝의 부상률이 낮아질 것으로 사료된다.

  • 이 사례연구는 2002년 10월 15일 칼에 의한 좌상으로 경추 3-4번의 불완전 척수손상을 입은 25세의 남자 환자가 최초 병원에서 2002년 12월 한달 간의 치료를 마친 후, 2003년 1월 3일부터 4월 28일까지 태릉에 위치한 N 재활센터에서 주 5회 2시간의 자세조절 훈련, 심폐지구력 훈련, 웨이트 훈련, 스포츠(축구, 소프트 볼), 여가활동(등산)의 프로그램을 적용하여 척추손상 환자의 사회적응을 돕기위한 재활 프로그램의 다양화를 꾀하기 위한 기초 선행 작업으로 시작되었다. 신체능력을 평가하기 위한 측정도구는 관절가동범위(Range of Motion), 수동근력검사(Muscle Manual Test), 경직(Spasticity), 신체체력(Physical Fitness), 발란스(Balance: one leg stand), 상대적인 등속성 하지근력(Isokinetic Muscle Strength) 그리고 신체조성(Body Composition)로 하였다. 재활기간을 통해 처음 시작 일자에서 45일 간격으로 3차례의 측정을(1월 3일부터 4월 28일까지 실시하였다) 실시하였다. 최초 환자의 상태는 부분적으로 일상생활의 도움을 받아야 하는 상태로 동작을 시작하려 할 때 경직이 발생되어 옷을 입고 벗기, 신발 신고 벗기, 운전, 식사, 보행과 계단보행, 경사보행에서 보조자의 도움이 필요했으며, 작은 물건 잡기와 글씨쓰기, 타이핑 작업은 불가능 한 상태였다. 또한 스포츠 활동과 여가활동 역시 불가능 한 상태였다. 3달 15일간의 기간 동안 환자는 복학을 준비하기 위해 적극적으로 치료에 임했으며, 결과는 다음과 같았다. 신체조성은 재활 훈련을 통해 체중, 체지방율(%), 복부지방율(WHR)의 많은 감소를 가져왔다. 경직을 측정하는 Ashworth Scale은 정상에 가깝게 감소하였다. 관절가동범위는 고관절, 무릎, 발목에서 모두 증가하였다. 수동근력검사(0-9)는 많은 향상을 가져왔다. 신체체력능력 항목에서 근지구력의 윗몸일으키기와 팔굽히기, 악근력, 유연성으로 앉아 체간 숙이기, 민첩성으로 사이드 스텝, 순발력의 서전트는 모두 크게 향상되었다. 환자의 일상능력에서도 옷을 입고 벗기, 신발 신고 벗기, 운전, 식사, 보행과 계단보행, 경사보행에서 보조자의 도움이 필요없었으며, 타이핑 작업은 5손가락을 모두 사용하지는 않았지만, 1분에 80타로 큰 향상을 가져왔다. 또한 축구와 소프트볼, 등산을 달에 1회 정도 실시하여 약간의 도움만으로 가능하게 되었다.

A Comparison of Physical Fitness of High School Ssirum Elite-players According to Their Weight Class (고등부 씨름선수의 체급별 기초·전문체력 비교분석)

  • This study was conducted from November 25 to December 4, 2019, to unmask differences in physical fitness based on the weight class of high school Ssirum elite-players. A total of 28 high school Ssirum elite-players were compared and analyzed by measuring physical factors (muscle strength/power, agility, anaerobic power, aerobic ability, flexibility, and isokinetic muscle function) by weight class. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 23.0. One-way ANOVA was used for comparison between groups. There was no difference by weight class in terms of grip strength, sit-ups, sergeant jump, long jump, flexibility, side step, and reaction time. Evaluation of back muscle strength revealed that the group with more than 100 kg had greater strength than lower weight categories, whereas it was lower in the sit-ups, 20 m shuttle run and the relative values anaerobic power. Considering isokinetic muscle function, no difference was observed between the groups of back muscle strength and knee joint. The results of this study indicate that amongst the high school Ssirum elite-players, there is no difference in muscle power, flexibility, agility, and anaerobic average power per body weight, isokinetic trunk strength, and knee flexion strength, when evaluated according to weight class.

The Evidence for Exercise Therapy in Cervical Dysfunction (경추장애에서 운동치료의 효과)

  • 운동치료는 환자가 자기 자신의 치료에 직접 참여한다는 측면에서 다른 수동적인 치료보다 더 효과적이라고 생각된다. 이 논문의 목적은 관련문헌을 찾아내어 경추의 장애를 치료하는데 운동치료가 효과적이라는 것을 입증하는 증거를 찾아내기 위한 것이다. 경추 장애를 치료하기 위한 여러 가지 형태의 운동치료를 포함하는 연구를 찾아내기 위하여 7가지의 컴퓨터 문헌탐색을 수행하였고 출판된 전문을 아들레이드 내에서 구할 수 있는 것만 검토하였다. 문헌 평가도구를 사용하여 연구의 질을 평가하였고 그 결과를 표로 제시하였다. 111개의 문헌 중 34개가 포함 기준에 합당하였으며 이 중 18개의 임상실험연구를 수집하여 운동치료의 효과를 조사하기 위하여 그 질을 분석하였다. 임상실험연구의 전체적인 질은 "우수"였다. 도수치료와 운동치료를 병행하여 치료를 실시한 5개의 "탁웰"한 질의 임상실험연구에서 근력의 증가와 통증의 감소를 보였다. 3개의 임상연구에서 근력강화운동이 증상의 경감에 효과가 있다고 하였다. 2개의 "우수"와 "중등도"의 질의 문헌에서 집단운동이 개별적인 물리치료만큼 효과가 있다고 하였다. 고유수용성 운동과 다른 형태의 운동 또한 경추의 장애의 치료에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이 글의 소견은 경추 장애의 치료에 운동이 효과적이라는 이전의 연구결과를 지지한다. 또한 경추 장애의 치료에 다른 형태의 운동의 상대적인 효과를 확인하기 위한 훌륭한 질의 연구가 더 행해질 필요가 있다고 본다.

  • The bodyguard is continuously training basic physical training and security art martial to protect the privacy of security target, prepare and deal with external contingencies and threats. Currently, university students majoring in security are required to take a judo class, one of their security art martial, which can use a technology to catch, crush and repress opponent. Therefore, this study identified the effects of systematic training on body composition, Performance fitness, growth hormones, and IGF-1 among male university students through a 10-week judo training program so that it was committed to providing objective data to enhance the value of judo as a security art martial and as a result, we have a conclusion as follows: After 10 weeks of judo training, muscle mass increased significantly, and body fat rate and BMI decreased significantly. The muscular strength and power of Performance fitness were shown to increase significantly, and growth hormones were shown to increase significantly. In total, the above results showed that for judo training university students, overall body composition improved positively, the muscular strength and power of active physical fitness improved, and growth hormones increased. Thus, the increase in muscle strength and growth hormones through judo training will encourage fat breakdown due to the development of the body's muscles and increase bone density in the spine, thereby reducing the risk of fractures and preventing injury to the trainees who are performing a security art martial. It will also greatly help your health by preventing obesity, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, which eventually will enhance your bodyguard function and prolong your life as a bodyguard.

A case study of radial nerve injury associated with humerus shaft fracture (상완골 간부 골절에 동반된 요골신경손상에 대한 치험 1례)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the patient with radial nerve injury associated with humerus shaft fracture, who was improved by Korean medical treatments. Methods : The patient was treated by Jungsongouhyul pharmacopuncture, electrical stimulation therapy, physical therapy, and herbal medicine according to "Locating Yang brightness meridians" theory. Coding result, Numeric rating scale(NRS) and digital grip dynamometer were used to evaluate the wrist drop, numbness of fingers and grip power. Results : The patient showed the first sign of recovery after 6 weeks from onset. After 9 weeks from onset, the patient could perform delicate manual activity. Grip power showed noticeable improvement as well as coding result and NRS. Conclusions : The results suggest that providing Korean medical treatments according to "Locating Yang brightness meridians" theory is a good method for treating radial nerve injury associated with humerus shaft fracture. But further studies are required to concretely prove the effectiveness of this method for treating radial nerve injury associated with humerus fracture.
