Studies on Hydrothermal Extracts from Fish Head 1. Chemical Composition and Physical Properties of the extracts (어체두부열수추출물에 관한 연구 1. 추출물의 화학조성 및 물리적 특성)

  • Fish heads of the main by-product is fishery processing were treated to extract nutrients by heating the fish heads with 1.5 or 3.0 times added water during 9, 12 or 15 hours. The yield, chemical compositions and physical properties of the hydrothermal extracts were studied. The yield was increased with the amount of water added and the extracting hours. The extract contained about $80\%$ protein in solid basis, but has no lipid. In essential amino acid, glutamic acid was most abundant and Iysine was abundant. In free amino acid, $\delta$-hydroxylysine and L-histidine in Cypyrinus carpio linnaeus had 5 times more than those in Onchorhynchus keta, The solution of the extracts was known as Newtonian fluid and the color of the extracts showed lower whiteness, higher redness and higher yellowness.

Changes of Physicochemical Properties and Fatty acid Compositions of Rough Rice Stored at Different Storage Temperatures and Periods (벼 정조저장 중 저장온도 및 저장기간에 따른 쌀의 이화학적 특성 및 지방산 조성의 변화)

  • This study was conducted to investigate changes of physicochemical properties and fatty acid compositions of rough rice stored at different storage temperatures and periods. So we analyzed texture, alkali digestion value (ADV), toyo glossiness value, pasting properties, fat acidity and fatty acid compositions of five rice varieties every 4 month on the condition of which rough rice had been stored at different temperatures (ambient and low temperature condition at $15^{\circ}C$) for 2 years. Hardness of cooked rice was increased by storage periods and cohesiveness of cooked rice was not considerably different among varieties according to storage temperatures and periods. ADV was significantly different among varieties and storage periods but not different with storage temperatures. Toyo glossiness value of cooked rice was continuously decreased from 4 months after storage regardless to storage temperature. The pasting properties were considerably affected by storage temperatures and periods of rough rice. Increase in peak viscosity, final viscosity and breakdown was observed but setback was decreased by storage periods. Fat acidity of brown rice was much higher than that of milled rice during storage of rough rice and tend to increase by storage period. Oleic acid among fatty acids of brown rice except Sindongin and Hitomebore tended to be decreased by storage periods and linoleic acid among fatty acids of brown rice of Hopum was decreased by storage periods. The contents of linoleinic acid and stearic acid among fatty acids of milled rice were comparatively decreased from 4 months after storage, whereas the content of palmitic acid tended to be increased by storage periods.

Generation of DEM by Correcting Blockage Areas on ASTER Stereo Images (ASTER 스테레오 영상의 폐색영역 보정에 의한 DEM 생성)

  • The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) on-board the NASA's Terra spacecraft provides along-track digital stereo image data at 15m resolution with a base-height ratio 0.6. Automated stereocorrelation procedure was implemented using the ENVI 4.1 software to derive DEMs with $15m{\times}15m$ in 43km long and 50km wide area using the ASTER stereo images. The accuracy of DEMs was analyzed in comparison with those which were obtained from digital topographic maps of 1:25,000 scale. Results indicate that RMSE in elevation between ${\pm}7$ and ${\pm}20m$ could be achieved. Excluding cloud, water and building areas as the factors which make RMSE value exceeding 10m, the accuracy of DEMs showed RMSE of ${\pm}5.789m$. Therefore for the purpose of elevating accuracy of topographic information, we intended to detect the cloud areas and shadow areas by a landcover classification method, remove those areas on the ASTER DEM and then replace with those areas detached from the cartographic DEM by band math.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate physical property change of asphalt cement chromatograms (by HP-GPC) were experimentally obtained from 3 types of AC-20 virgin ACs, 5 and 24-hour artificially aged ACs, and naturally aged 4 ACs that were recovered from 4 different roads. Absolute viscosity, kinematic visoosity and penetration were the physical properties tested. THF was used for mobil phase and RI detector was used as a detector for Hp-GPC testing. Correlation between each physical property change and the chromatogram variation was evaluated. Each chromatogram was divided into ten-equal-time slices. The percentage areas of 10 slices and each physical property were used for statistical correlation evaluation. Statistical analysis results showed that eaoh physical property had a strong correlation with the chromatogram characteristics. Aging was identified as a mechanism of change of molecular size distribution - increasing large size molecules and reducing coresponding samll size molecules.

  • The influence of temperature and moisture on aflatoxin production on solid substrate(barley) by Aspergillus parasiticus NRRL 2999 has been studied in some detail. The optimum temperature for production of aflatoxin under the conditions employed is 25 and $30^{\circ}C$. No aflatoxin was detected at the moisture levels of 13%, and only traces at 16% moisture. The ratio of the production of aflatoxin B to G varied with temperature and moisture level. Aflatoxin G is elabolated at a more rapid rate than B and also metabolized at a more rapid rate. Also lower temperatures favored the production of aflatoxin G. The intensity of the yellow pigment of the chloroform extracts correlated with the concentration of aflatoxin.

Contactless Biometric Using Thumb Image (엄지손가락 영상을 이용한 비접촉식 바이오인식)

  • Recently, according to the limelight of Fintech, simple payment using biometric at smartphone is widely used. In this paper, we propose a new contactless biometric method using thumb image without additional sensors unlike previous biometrics such as fingerprint, iris, and vein recognition. In our method, length, width, and skin texture information are used as features. For that, illumination normalization, skin region segmentation, size normalization and alignment procedures are sequentially performed from the captured thumb image. Then, correlation coefficient is calculated for similarity measurement. To analyze recognition accuracy, genuine and imposter matchings are performed. At result, we confirmed the FAR of 1.68% at the FRR of 1.55%. In here, because the distribution of imposter matching is almost normal distribution, our method has the advantage of low FAR. That is, because 0% FAR can be achieved at the FRR of 15%, the proposed method is enough to 1:1 matching for payment verification.

  • A sensitive and reproducible method for the flotation-spectrophotometric determination of zirconium is reported. The method is based on the complex formation zirconium and xylenol orange (XO) which is floated in the interface of aqueous phase and n-hexane by vigorous shaking. By discarding the aqueous solution and n-hexane, the adsorbed complex on to the wall of a separating funnel was dissolved in a small volume of methanol solvent and its absorbance was measured at 429 nm. The effect of different parameters such as pH, concentrations of HCl, and XO, and volume of n-hexane flotation dissolvent, standing and shaking time were studied. The calibration curve was linear in the range of 7-120 ng $mL^{-1}$ of zirconium with a correlation coefficient of 0.9991. The limit of detection (LOD) was 5.8 ng $mL^{-1}$. The relative standard deviation (RSD) for seven replicate measurements of 50 and 110 ng $mL^{-1}$ of zirconium were 4.4 and 3.0%, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the determination of zirconium in water samples.

3D Conversion of 2D H.264 Video (2D H.264 동영상의 3D 입체 변환)

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm that creates three-dimensional (3D) stereoscopic video from two-dimensional (2D) video encoded by H.264 instead of using the conventional stereo-camera process. Motion information of each frame can be obtained by the given motion vectors in most of videos encoded by MPEG standards. Especially, we have accurate motion vectors for H.264 streams because of the availability of a variety of block sizes. 2D/3D video conversion algorithm proposed in this paper can create the left and right images that correspond to the original image by using cut detection method, delay factors, motion types, and image types. We usually have consistent motion type na direction in a given cut because each frame in the same cut has high correlation. We show the improved performance of the proposed algorithm through experimental results.

  • KIST 6MV 가속기는 이온빔 분석 그리고 가속기 질량 분석법(Accelerator mass spectrometry)으로 활용된다. 이온빔 분석으로는 RBS, TOF ERD, PIXE. ${\mu}$-Probe을 할 수 있으며 AMS(Accelerator mass spectrometry)는 액체섬광측정법(LSC)과 비교할때 민감도는 1,000배 정도로 3H, 14C, 26Al,41Ca 을 10-21 ~ 10-18 mole/mg 까지 검출 가능하여. 응용분야로는 BAMS(Biological AMS), 전통과학, 지구과학, 환경과학에 활용되고 있다. 이중 AMS의 생-의학분야(BAMS)의 응용은 최근 매우 중요하게 연구되고 있다. BAMS의 활용 연구에 사용하는 핵종으로는 주로 3H, 14C, 41Ca, 36Cl를 사용하며, 14C 화합물은 쉽게 구할 수 있고, 자연방사선 이하의 낮은 14C labeled drug 사용하기 때문에 1948년 이후 생물학 연구에 혁신적으로 활용되고 있다. 주 활용분야로는 (1) 신약개발은 임상실험 전(Phase 0) 이용되며, 14C로 표지된 bio-molecule을 자연수준의 방사선 농도에서 추적자로 사용하여 질량을 측정하는 방법을 활용. (2) 의과학분야는 인체 내에서의 추적자 연구수행 (3) 항암제 연구는 암조직 중 약물농도와 암효과의 상관성을 연구 (4) 바이오 기술 분야에서는 생약 유효물질의 체내 대사연구 등을 할 수 있어 전세계적으로 활발히 연구가 진행되고 있다. KIST에서는 6MV가속기를 BAMS 연구에 활용하기 위하여 전처리 단계의 Combustion, Gas transfer, Reduction 등을 자체 제작하여 테스트 중에 있으며, BAMS 샘플의 Gas는 호기중의 성분, 대기 성분이 있으며, Liquid는 혈액(혈장,혈청,적혈구), Solid는 DNA, 세포, 장기 뼈, 피부, 식물조직, 사료, Drug 및 그 대사 류가 있다. AMS 측정 결과는 14C/12C 비율로 나타나며 그 결과를 농도로 환산하여 분석하게 된다. 또한 분석 데이터 신뢰를 확보하기 위하여 표준시료 및 품질관리용 시료를 사용하여 BAMS분석법에 대한 검증을 실시하였다.

A Single Field Deinterlacing Algorithm Using Edge Map in the Image Block (영상 블록에서의 에지 맵을 이용한 단일 필드 디인터레이싱 알고리듬)

  • A new intra field deinterlacing algorithm with edge map in the image block is introduced. Conventional deinterlacing methods usually employ edge-based line average algorithm within pixel-by-pixel approach. However, it is sensitive to variation of intensity. To reduce this shortcoming, we proposed edge direction vector computed by edge map, and also its interpolation technique. We first introduce an edge direction vector, which is computed by Sobel mask, so that finer resolution of the edge direction can be acquired. The proposed edge direction vector oriented deinterlacer operates by identifying small pixel variations in five orientations, while weighted averaging to estimate missing pixel. According to the edge direction of the direction vector, we calculate weights on each edge direction. These weight values multiplied by the candidate deinterlaced pixels in order to successively build approximations of the deinterlaced sequence.
