A Study on the Simultaneous Oxidation of $CH_4$ and CO over $Pd/TiO_2$ Catalyst ($Pd/TiO_2$ 촉매를 이용한 $CH_4$, CO의 동시산화 연구)

  • The effects of active sites and valence states were investigated over $Pd/TiO_2$ catalyst on simultaneous oxidation of $CH_4$ and CO. The Pd species (PdO) crystallite size increased with increasing Pd loadings, which results in enhancement of the activity of $CH_4$ oxidation. Different results from the activity of $CH_4$ and CO oxidation were shown to be dependent on the Pd valence state on the surface of the catalyst prepared through a thermal treatment. XRD and $H_2-TPR$ analysis confirmed that $Pd^{2+}$species was predominated in the calcination catalyst, while $Pd^0$species was predominated in the reduction catalyst. Additionally, it could be found that the valence state of Pd was a more important factor on the catalytic activity than that of factors as the surface area and pore volume. The reaction mechanism of $CH_4$ and CO followed by the valence state of Pd could be identified using FT-IR analysis.

Catalytic Oxidation of Toluene over Mn-Ce/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ Catalyst Doped with Ce (Ce가 첨가된 Mn-Ce/${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ 촉매상에서 톨루엔의 촉매 산화 반응)

  • Catalytic oxidation of toluene on the manganese oxide catalysts and manganese-cerium oxide catalysts was investigated. The catalysts were characterised by X-ray diffraction(XRD), thermo gravimetric analyzer(TGA), toluene-temperature program reduction(Toluene-TPR). We found that the optimal manganese content was 18.2 wt.% and the optimal cerium content was 10.0 wt.% at catalytic oxidation of toluene. It is shown that ceria improves the activity of manganese oxide phases. From the XRD results, it was estimated that $MnO_2$ phase was active site in the monometallic and bimetallic catalysts. From the TGA and Toluene-TPR results, it show that ceria improves the mobility of the lattice oxygen, adequate oxidation state of the active phase, reduction ability at low temperature, and re-oxidation of the active site.

  • 산화아연은 높은 열전도도와 열용량을 갖으며, 결정 부피의 44%만이 아연 및 산소 이온으로 채워져 있어 결함의 생성이 다양하여 여러 가지 전기적, 광전기적, 촉매 특성등을 부여할 수 있어 산업전반에 널리 이용되고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 초음파 분무 연소합성법을 이용하여 Zinc nitrate hexahydrate를 산화제로, Carbohydrazide를 환원제로 사용하여, 연소합성을 위한 에너지를 최대희 얻기 위해 산화수와 환원수의 비율이 1:1이 되게 조절하여 전구체의 산화ㆍ환원 반응을 이용하여 액적의 체류시간, 농도, 온도, filtering 효과등을 조절하면서 액적 단위로 연소반응을 유도함으로써 부가적인 하소과정이 필요없이 상전이가 완료된 구형의 나노크기 ZnO 분말을 in-situ로 제조하여 입자의 크기와 형 태, 결정상등을 분석하였다.

Synthesis of Pt-Sn/Carbon Electrodes by Reduction Method for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (환원법에 의한 직접 메탄올 연료전지(DMFC)용 Pt-Sn/Carbon 전극제조)

  • Pt-Sn with various ratios was supported on carbon black after pretreatment in an acidic solution by a reduction method. The Pt/Sn ratio was controlled by varying the concentration of each component in the solution, and the influence of the composition on the electrocatalytic activities was investigated. The crystallinity of the synthesized materials was investigated by XRD (X-ray Diffraction), and the oxidation states of both the platinum and tin were determined by XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy). SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy)-EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy) was utilized to examine the morphology and composition of the synthesized electrode, and the particle size of the Pt-Sn was analyzed by TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy). The electrocatalytic activity for oxygen reduction was evaluated in a 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$ solution using a rotating disk electrode system. The activity and stability were found to be strongly dependent on the electrode composition (Pt/Sn ratio). The catalytic activity and stability for methanol oxidation were also measured using cyclic voltammetry (CV) in a mixture of 0.5 M $H_2SO_4$ and 0.5 M $CH_3OH$ aqueous solution. The addition of proper amount of Sn was found to significantly improve both catalytic activity and stability for methanol oxidation.

  • 화학반응이 주로 고온에서 일어나기 때문에 polymer membrane의 화학반응에의 적용은 거의 없었으며, 연구의 대부분은 열적 안정성이 좋은 inorganic membrane reactor에 대하여 이루어져 왔다. 산 및 산화환원 촉매로써의 12-텅스토인산은 반응물의 종류에 따라 특이한 흡착 특성을 보이며, 헤테로폴리산만이 지니는 특징적인 surface, bulk 특성 때문에 바능물의 종류에 따라 반응은 촉매의 surface and/or bulk에서 일어난다. 무기 축합산인 12-텅스토인산이 지니는 또 하나의 특징은 물, 알콜, ether 같이 산소를 포함하는 organic solvent에 매우 잘 녹는다는 사실이다.

  • The Pt-Ru electrocatalyst was Prepared on Nafion membrane modified with Polypyrrole by chemical reduction of $H_2PtCI_6\;and\;RuCl_3$ solution ai precursor. From the electron dispersive microanalysis spectroscope(EDS), the Pt-Ru catalyst was located on the surface of Ppy/Nafion composite. The electrochemical oxidation of methanol on Pt-Ru catalyst deposited in Polypyrrole-impregnated Nafion was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry. The onset potential of methanol oxidation was shifted to negative potential as the $RuCI_3$ concentration in deposition solution. Also, it was known that the Pt-Ru binary catalyst on Nafion could be directly deposited by using Polypyrrole and resulting Pt-Ru/PPy/Nafion was available for methanol oxidation.

Manganese Oxide Catalyzed Fenton-like Reduction of Chlorinated Compounds (산화망간으로 촉매화된 펜톤유사반응을 적용한 염소계화합물의 환원분해)

  • Manganese oxide/ hydrogen peroxide($MnO_2$/${H_2}{O_2}$) reactions were investigated as an alternative to Fenton-like reaction to reduce chlorinated organic compounds in groundwater This system showed high degradation of CT with low ${H_2}{O_2}$concentration($\leq$294mM) at neutral condition, and CT degradation increased with increasing pH values. The rate of CT degradation was not so much dependent on increase in $MnO_2$concentration since increase in production of oxygen during the reaction obstructed reaction of ${H_2}{O_2}$ on the surface of $MnO_2$. These results show that $MnO_2$catalyzed Ponton-like reaction could be a potential alternative method for treating chlorinated organic compounds in groundwater.

Physicochemical Properties of MnO2 Catalyst Prepared via Hydrothermal Process and its Application for CO Oxidation (수열방법으로 합성된 이산화망간의 물리화학적 특성과 일산화탄소 산화반응)

  • MnO2 was prepared by a hydrothermal process method in the range of 120-200 ℃ and 0.5-5 h, calcined at 300 ℃ after induction of precipitation using KMnO4 and MnCl2・4H2O, and its catalytic activity was compared for CO oxidation. The catalysts were characterized using by X-ray diffraction, N2-sorption, scanning electron microscopy, and temperature programmed reduction of H2 or CO. The crystalline structure of pure α-MnO2 or hybrid α/β-MnO2 was controlled by the preparation conditions. The pure α-MnO2 showed better catalytic activity and thermal stability than hybrid α/β-MnO2. Especially, α-MnO2 prepared at 150 ℃ for 1 h has the highest specific surface area 214 m2 g-1, reducibility and labile lattice oxygen species analyzed by H2, CO-TPR, respectively. It also showed the best CO oxidation activity in both conditions of temperature programmed and isothermal reaction. The results came from the physicochemical properties of catalysts like the crystalline structure, specific surface area, reducibility and lattice oxygen species, and which are correlated with catalytic performance.

  • 전 세계적으로 환경문제를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 환경규제를 강화시키며 특히 다양한 대기오염 물질 중 최근 큰 이슈인 초미세먼지 저감을 위해 전구물질로 알려진 질소산화물을 제어하기 위한 다양한 기술개발이 가속화되고 있다. 특히, 다양한 처리기술 중에 기술적·경제적인 이점을 갖춘 선택적 촉매환원법(selective catalytic reduction, SCR) 기술을 통하여 질소산화물 제거를 위해 암모니아를 환원제로 반응에 참여시켜 인체에 무해한 H2O, N2로 전환하는 기술이 대표적이다. 최근 전 세계적으로 다양한 산업군에서 질소산화물이 배출되고 있으며, 점오염원뿐만이 아니라 비점오염원(mobile sources)에 대한 규제가 강화되고 있다. 디젤엔진이 장착된 선박 배가스 처리장치 내 SCR 기술이 주목을 받고 있으며, NH3-SCR에 사용되는 촉매는 주로 VOx/TiO2, VOx/W/TiO2 촉매가 대표적이다. 한편 선박 디젤엔진에 사용되는 연료에 따라 연소배가스 특성이 다르다. 이러한 연료가 연소됨에 따라 SO2, SO3가 발생되고 환원제인 NH3와 결합하여 황산암모늄염((NH4)2SO4), ABS (ammonium bisulfate, NH4HSO4)과 같은 염을 형성시켜 탈질촉매의 비활성화 문제가 발생된다. 이러한 비활성화 물질이 침적된 탈질촉매를 재활성화 시키기 위하여 열 산화를 통해 재생시키고 있다. 이처럼 선박용 SCR 촉매는 강화되는 배출규제 및 엔진기술의 발달로 저감되는 운전 온도에 대비하여 저온 활성 재생이 가능한 고활성, 고내구성 촉매기술 개발이 필요하다.
