This study attempts to understand new immigrants' socio-economic adaptation by linking them with the restructuring economies in large US metropolitan areas. Selecting Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Atlanta, we examine the industrial distribution of employed Hispanic and Asian immigrant groups with respect to the industrial change experienced between 1980 and 1990, and residential concentration represented by higher location quotients. The findings are that new immigrant groups are employed in overall industrial sectors close to that of total population and their large residential concentrations are displayed near downtown as well as outlying areas. These suggest that new immigrant groups experience different socio-economic adaptation from those generalized in the previous European immigrants, concentrated in manufacturing sector and near downtown area. This study proposes that divergent economic restructuring across metropolitan areas and new immigrants' backgrounds should be considered for better understanding of immigrants' economic adaptation in the current economic restructuring and its spatial manifestation in the US contexts.

The fermentation process of kimchi, which is a traditional Korean food, influences the resulting compo- sition of microorganisms, such as the genera Leuconostoc, Weissella, and Lactobacillus. In addition, several factors, including the type of kimchi, fermentation conditions, materials, and ingredients, can influence the distribution of the kimchi microbial community. In this study, next-generation sequencing (NGS) of kimchi samples obtained from central (Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do) and southern (Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do) regions in Korea was performed, and the microbial communities in samples from the two regions were compared. Good's coverage prediction for all samples was higher than 99%, indicating that there was sufficient reliability for comparative analysis. However, in a α -diversity analysis, there was no significant difference in species richness and diversity between samples. The Firmicutes phylum was common in both regions. At the species level, Weissella kandleri dominated in central (46.5%) and southern (30.8%) regions. Linear discriminant analysis effect size (LEfSe) analysis was performed to identify biomarkers representing the microbial community in each region. The LEfSe results pointed to statistically significant differences between the two regions in community composition, with Leuconostocaceae (71.4%) dominating in the central region and Lactobacillaceae (61.0%) dominating in the southern region. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the microbial communities of kimchi are significantly influenced by regional properties and that it can provide more useful scientific data to study the relationship between regional characteristics of kimchi and their microbial distribution.

The purpose of this study is to understand the locational characteristics of performing art industries and to investigate the linkages with local economy. For the purpose, we examine the spatial concentration of cultural and artistic resources in Korea first, and than focus on Seoul where the resources of performing art industries are concentrated to the utmost. To distinguish the distribution aspect and locational characteristics of performing art industries, we apply the Kernel density analysis and LISA (Local Indicator of Spatial Association) on the address data of performing art theater, gallery, and movie theater. In contrast to galleries and movie theaters. the spatial distribution pattern of performing art theaters reveals a unique local cluster centered on the Daehakro area. We confirm that the Daehakro area constitutes a performing art industry cluster in their dense distribution of various related activities making up the value chain of the performing art industry. Multiple regression analysis probes the related economic activities to explain the distribution of performing art theaters as well as the linkages with the local economic landscape.

국내 도시는 1960년대이후의 산업화에 따라 인구와 산업이 도시로 집중되어 급속하고 거대한 성장을 이루었고 대기오염 현상의 다양화, 복합화로 인해 스모그와 시정장애 등 새로운 오염현상이 심각해지고 있다. 도시지역 대기중의 오염물질 농도수준은 오염 배출원의 분포 및 배출강도 그리고 지역의 지형, 기상 요인 등 많은 요인에 따라 좌우된다. 특히, 대도시는 경제ㆍ사회ㆍ문화 등 다양한 요소들이 복합적으로 상호 작용하는 유기체적인 공간으로 특정 지역에로의 집중과 분산이 일어나면서 다양한 공간구조(예; 신시가지, 산업단지 등)를 만들어 가고(이광국 등) 이런 변화에 따라 대기오염의 공간적 분포 경향 역시 달라져 갈 것이다. 공급사슬상에서의 구성원간 협력이 보편화되어가는 현재의 추세에 따라 본 논문은 공급자-판매자로 구성된 공급 사슬에서의 옵션 계약을 통한 구성원간 협력 문제에 대해 연구하였다. 구체적으로, 본 논문은 가격이 공급자에 의해 결정되고 옵션 계약 물량이 판매자에 의해 결정될 경우에 대한 공급사슬 전체 관점 및 각 구성원 관점에서의 최적 옵션 가격, (옵션) 행사 가격, 현물 시장 가격, 옵션 계약 물량 결정 문제를 계량적으로 연구하였다. 본 논문의 연구결과를 통해 옵션 계약이 공급사슬에서의 구성원간 협력에 이용되는 경우에 대한 좀 더 나은 이해가 가능하며, 본 논문에서 제시한 예제는 실제 공급사슬상에서의 최종 소비자 수요가 정규분포나 연속균등분포등의 특정 분포를 따를 경우에 대한 최적 가격 및 옵션 계약 물량 계산 방법을 설명한다.

본 논문에서는 재시도와 완전입력 규칙을 갖는 BMAP/PH/N/0 대기시스템에 대한 주요 성능평가척도와 시스템의 정상상태 조건을 제시한다. 고려되는 시스템은 모든 서버가 서비스를 하고 있을 경우 도착이 이루어지는 배치도착은 모두 손실되며, 반대의 경우 도착하는 배치는 서비스를 받기 위해 시스템에 들어가게 된다. 만약 쉬고 있는 서버의 수가 불충분하여 배치의 일부가 즉각 서비스를 받을 수 없다면, 일단 오빗으로 이동하고 표준 재시도 대기 시스템의 규칙에 따라 후에 서비스를 받게 된다. 본 논문에서는 배치 마코프도착과정, 단계 서비스분포 및 유한버퍼를 갖는 다중서버 재시도 대기 시스템에 대한 수리모형을 제시한다. 제시된 시스템의 정상상태 분포 존재를 위한 충분조건을 유도하고, 이 분포를 계산하기 위한 알고리즘이 제시된다. 끝으로 완전입력규칙을 갖는 시스템에 대한 손실확률을 계산하기 위한 식이 유도하고, 수치 예제들을 제시한다.
