The Effects of R&D Investments on Exports in the Korean Manufacturing Industry: Focusing on Mediating Effects of Product and Cost Competitiveness (국내 제조 산업의 R&D 투자가 수출에 미치는 영향: 제품경쟁력과 원가경쟁력의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine how industry-level R&D investments increase exports in Korean manufacturing industries through the strengthening of product competitiveness and cost competitiveness. We developed a research model indicating that R&D investments positively affect product competitiveness and cost competitiveness, in which investments in R&D will finally lead to increases in exports in manufacturing industries. Product competitiveness is divided into new product innovation capability and product quality competitiveness, while cost competitive advantage is divided into labor productivity and capital productivity. We have collected data from 20 manufacturing industries between 2004 and 2014, and analyzed them through path analysis. Empirical results of this study are as follows. First, R&D investment in the manufacturing industry positively affects new product innovation capability, product quality competitiveness, labor productivity and capital productivity of the industries. Second, increased product quality competitiveness, labor productivity and capital productivity positively affects exports of Korean manufacturing industries. Thus, we can conclude that R&D investments in Korean manufacturing industries positively influence exports through increases in product quality competitiveness, labor productivity and capital productivity.

The analysis of regional Character industry - CT competence level and R&D performance (국내 캐릭터산업의 권역별 문화콘텐츠 역량과 R&D 성과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study are as follows. First, to analyze relative LQ index of the No. of character company, the No. of employee and the amount of revenue. Second, to analyze the strength and weakness about technology competence, human resource competence, infra competence and network competence of regional character contents R&D. The results are as follows. The relative competitively LQ index results of company infra indicated all regional area are over 1 LQ index. But, in case of except of seoul & kyunggi, the competence LQ index of R&D which is jeju, dongnam(pusan & kyungnam) are in order. Final result suggested that the high competitiveness of regional character industry are seoul & kyunggi, jeju, dongnam area.

  • 국내 PC 산업은 노동비용의 비중이 높은 조립산업의 특성에 따른 수익성 악화와 대기업의 생산시설 중국이전, 해외 브랜드에 의한 국내시장 재편 등으로 인해 어려움을 겪고 있다. 삼성전자와 LG전자는 PC 생산시설이 중국으로 이전한 상태이며, 세계 PC 산업 역시 중국의 저임금으로 인한 경쟁이 가속화되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 차세대 PC 산업의 정의 및 분류체계를 정립하고, 실태조사를 통한 국내 시장 현황을 분석하였다. 또한, 국내 차세대 PC 제조업체의 선진기업 대비 기술 이외의 요인까지 고려한 종합적 경쟁력 수준을 제품역량과 운영역량을 중심으로 분석하였다. 제품역량은 가격경쟁력, 기능경쟁력, 디자인 등을 중심으로 분석하였고, 운영경쟁력은 마케팅경쟁력, 자금조달능력 등을 중심으로 분석하였다.

Material·Part·Equipment Industry Chungcheong Region Competitiveness Analysis Using Shift-Share Analysis (변이할당분석을 이용한 소재·부품·장비 산업 충청지역 경쟁력 분석)

  • The Material·Part·Equipment industry is mostly an industry centered on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and is an important industry for revitalizing the local economy, which is the source of manufacturing competitiveness. In this study, we tried to derive the implications necessary for the development of the Material·Part·Equipment industries by analyzing the competitiveness of the Material·Part·Equipment industries in the Chungcheong region. To this end, we analyzed the industrial development stage and competitiveness of each region (Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk) based on business scale factor, industrial growth rate, industrial specialization, and regional competitiveness for the Material·Part·Equipment industries in the Chungcheong region. Using data such as the number of employees, the number of businesses, and the amount of production in 2014 and 2019, significant industrial groups by region were identified considering the level of industrial specialization and regional competitiveness. In addition, by identifying the positions of these significant industrial groups in the stage of industrial development, suggestions for the development of the Material·Part·Equipment industries in the Chungcheong region were presented.

  • 본 고에서는 실태조사를 통해 국내 홈네트워크 산업의 시장 및 수출 현황을 분석하였으며, 아울러 홈네트워크 장비산업의 경쟁력을 평가하였다. 2005년도에 국내 홈네트워크 산업의 시장규모는 전년도인 2004년도의 7,104억 원에 비해 53.3% 증가한 1조891억원에 달한 것으로 나타났다. 이중에서 홈네트워크 장비시장이 87%인 9,4701억원에 달했으며, 홈네트워크 서비스시장은 13%인 1,421억 원으로 나타났다. 수급 현황 분석결과 국내 홈네트워크산업은 아직 기대에 비해 본격적인 성장단계에 접어들지 못한 것으로 보인다. 한편 국내 통신장비산업의 경쟁력 또한 4개 장비분야 모두가 경쟁력이100점 만점 기준에 60점대에 머무는 것으로 평가되어 선진기업에 비해 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 브랜드경쟁력과 유통경쟁력이 공통적으로 현저하게 낮은 것으로 나타나 기술개발뿐만 아니라 마케팅 역량 향상을 위한 업계 자체의 노력 및 정부 차원의 지원이 시급한 것으로 나타났다.

Longitudinal Analysis to Regional LQ Index Competitiveness of Character Culture Contents Industry (캐릭터 문화콘텐츠 산업의 권역별 입지 경쟁력 분석에 대한 종단적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the status and the competitiveness improvement of character industry comparing to relative LQ index of the no. of character company, the no. of employee and the amount of revenue of 2007, 2009, and 2010 between including Metro area and regional blocks(kangwon, chungchung, daekung, honam, dongnam and jeju region). The results of this research are as follows. In case whole regional analysis, no. of employee and no. of character company suggested jeju, dongnam and Metro have high competitiveness during the 3 years and amount of revenue suggested consistent high competitiveness 6 block except Metro. But in case of except of Metro, no. of character company and the no. of employee indicated dongnam and jeju showed competitiveness during 3 years. Chungchung area indicated high competitiveness at no. of employee(2009) and no. of character company(2011). The amount of revenue indicated jeju area have high competitiveness during 3 years.

차세대 자동차 기술분야에서 미국의 경쟁력

  • 현재 미국과 세계 경제시장뿐만 아니라 우리나라에서도 자동차 분야는 매우 중요한 산업으로 자리잡고 있다. 우리나라에서 자동차 산업이 국가경제에 기여하는 바는 결코 적지 않은 상황이지만, 자동차 분야에서 현재 우리나라의 위치가 어느 정도이고 또한 어느 정도의 경쟁력을 가지고 있는지에 대하여 특허를 이용한 분석은 미흡한 실정이다. 미국 상무부에서 분석한 미국의 자동차 산업분야에서의 경쟁력에 관한 본 보고서가 이에 관한 좋은 본보기가 될 것으로 보인다.

A Study on Regional Competitiveness of the Part Material Industry (소재·부품산업의 지역경쟁력 분석)

  • The purpose of this study to analyze the regional competitiveness of the part material industry in Korea. According to the analysis, there was an empirical regional difference in the part material industry in Korea: in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, the industrial scale was found to be relatively small, although many companies were observed to be in the growing stage; in the Chungcheong region, it was estimated that the industrial scale is large, and many companies were found to have already reached the maturation stage with high growth rates; and in Honam and Jeju, Daekyung and Gangwon, and Dongnam, although the scale of the part material industry was found to be large, many companies were observed to be in the declining stage with low growth rates. This study also conducted an analysis based on LQ (Location Quotient) and RLQ (Relative efficiency of Labor Quotient). The analysis showed that industrial policies regarding workforce planning and industrial restructuring should focus on improving the productivity of the entire part material industry. Lastly, this study examined the competitive part material industry for the five regions by analyzing the RCC (Regional Competition Component). The findings of this study will be helpful in exploring ways to support the domestic part material industries in each region.

에너지 산업의 규제완화와 국제경쟁력

  • 한 국가의 국가경쟁력이 커지기 위해서는 여러 산업에 국제경쟁력이 있어야 한다. 특히 에너지 산업과 같이 전방효과가 큰 산업은 어떤 산업 보다도 경쟁력을 키워나가야 하는 산업이다. 본 논문에서는 국제경쟁력에 대한 개념 정리를 통해 규제완화를 포함한 정부의 역할이 에너지 산업의 국제경쟁력에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 살펴보고 정부가 1994년에 발표한 규제완화조치가 에너지 산업의 국제경쟁력을 강화시키는데 충분한 조치인가를 석유산업을 중심으로 평가한 후 정부가 취해야 할 자세와 결정, 실천사항을 제언하였다. 한국의 국제경쟁력 모델을 이용한 분석에 의하면 한국의 에너지 산업은 부존자원과 경영환경면에서 열악한 모습을 보이는 반면, 근로자와 기업가면에서 경쟁력을 창출할 수 있는 요소를 간직하고 있다. 그러나 규제완화와 관련된 정부, 즉 정치가와 행정관료면에 있어서는 현 정부가 외형적으로 제시하는 규제완화조치에 대해서 큰 기대를 걸게 해 주지만 그 실천에 있어서는 기대가 큰 만큼 실망도 함께 주고 있다. 기업이 이윤극대화라는 목표를 달성하기 위해서 생산, 판매 등의 기업활동에 경영개념을 도입해야 하듯이, 국가 역시 국제경쟁력 강화라는 목표를 달성하기 위해서는 "규제완화조치"라는 정부활동에 사전계획, 현장집행, 사후평가로 이어지는 경영개념을 도입해야 한다. 즉, 정부가 규제완화를 목표로 삼고 있다면 일방적으로 어떤 규제를 완화하겠다고 할 것이 아니라 우선 민간 부문에서 어떠한 규제를 완화하기를 원하는지 파악하여 과감한 완화조치를 마련한 후 관련 부서간 조정을 거쳐 법령을 개폐하는 등 이를 집행하는 것이 중요하며, 마지막 단계로 수혜자인 민간부문의 입장에서 실제 규제완화가 이루어졌는지에 대해 평가하고 평가결과가 계획에 미달할 때는 그 원인을 찾아서 다음 단계의 계획에 반영하며, 성과가 계획목표대로 이루어진 경우에는 해당 집행관료에게 이에 상응하는 대우를 충분히 해주는 등 일련의 사후평가 절차가 반드시 뒤따라야 한다.

Classification of Environmental Industry and Technology Competitiveness Evaluation (환경산업기술 분류체계 및 기술 경쟁력 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the technological competitiveness of the environmental industry with developed countries in order to establish an international market expansion strategy of the Korean environmental industry and technology. In order to evaluate the competitiveness of the environmental industry and technology, core technologies were classified by the environmental industry sectors based on the classification system of the domestic and international environmental industry and technology. After developing the evaluation index data, the Delphi analysis, journal and patent analysis, as well as the export and import analysis were carried out and the standardization analysis was performed on the index data. Moreover, the weights of each evaluation index were calculated using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method and the evaluation results of competitiveness of the environmental industry and technology in Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France were derived. As a result of the evaluation, the United States was rated with the highest technological competitiveness in all the environmental industry sectors, while Korea got the lowest technological competitiveness rating compared to the 4 developed countries. In particular, Korea got the lowest level of technological competitiveness in the sector of multi-media environmental management and development for a sustainable social system. Therefore, in order for the Korean environmental industry and technology to enter the global advanced market, it is necessary to strengthen the competitiveness through the development of the fourth environmental industry based on IoT(Internet of Things), cloud, big data, mobile, and AI(Artificial Intelligence), which are currently the country's domestic strengths.
