Joint Bandwidth Allocation and Path Selection Scheme for Uplink Transmission in IEEE 802.16j Networks with Cooperative Relays (협력 중계를 이용한 IEEE 802.16j 네트워크를 위한 상향 링크에서의 통합 대역 할당 및 경로 선택 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a joint bandwidth allocation and path selection scheme for IEEE 802.16j networks in uplink with cooperative relaying, and we evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme by using OPNET based simulation in hilly terrain with heavy tree density. The proposed scheme maximizes the system throughput in uplink with cooperative relaying in IEEE 802.16j networks. Then, we transform the proposed scheme into multi-dimensional multiple choice knapsack problem (MMKP) based scheme. We also propose uplink throughput maximization scheme and MMKP based scheme without cooperative relaying. We show that the system throughput of the proposed MMKP based scheme is higher than that of link quality based scheme, and cooperative relaying provides higher system throughput than the conventional case without cooperative relaying in uplink.

A Study on the Surface Wind Characteristics in Suwon City Using a GIS Data and a CFD Model (GIS 자료와 CFD 모델을 이용한 수원시 지표 바람 특성 연구)

  • This study investigated wind corridors for the entire Suwon-city area using a geographic information system and a computational fluid dynamics model. We conducted numerical simulations for 16 inflow wind directions using the average wind speeds measured at the Suwon automated synoptic observation system (ASOS) for recent ten years. We analyzed the westerly (dominant wind direction) and easterly cases (not dominant but strong wind speed) in detail and investigated the characteristics of a wind speed distribution averaged using the frequencies of 16 wind directions as weighting factors. The characteristics of the wind corridors in Suwon city can be summarized as; (1) In the northern part of Suwon, complicated flows were formed by the high mountainous terrain, and strong (weak) winds and updrafts (downdrafts) were simulated on the windward (leeward) mountain slope. (2) On the leeward mountain slope, a wind corridor was formed along a valley, and relatively strong airflow flowed into the residential area. (3) The strong winds were simulated in a wide and flat area in the west and south part of Suwon city. (4) Due to the friction and flow blocking by buildings, wind speeds decreased, and airflows became complicated in the downtown area. (5) Wind corridors in residential areas were formed along wide roads and areas with few obstacles, such as rivers, lakes, and reservoirs.

Development of Snow Depth Frequency Analysis Model Based on A Generalized Mixture Distribution with Threshold (최심신적설량 빈도분석을 위한 임계값을 가지는 일반화된 혼합분포모형 개발)

  • An increasing frequency and intensity of natural disasters have been observed due to climate change. To better prepare for these, the MOIS (ministry of the interior and safety) announced a comprehensive plan for minimizing damages associated with natural disasters, including drought and heavy snowfall. The spatial-temporal pattern of snowfall is greatly influenced by temperature and geographical features. Heavy snowfalls are often observed in Gangwon-do, surrounded by mountains, whereas less snowfall is dominant in the southern part of the country due to relatively high temperatures. Thus, snow depth data often contains zeros that can lead to difficulties in the selection of probability distribution and estimation of the parameters. A generalized mixture distribution approach to a maximum snow depth series over the southern part of Korea (i.e., Changwon, Tongyeoung, Jinju weather stations) are located is proposed to better estimate a threshold (𝛿) classifying discrete and continuous distribution parts. The model parameters, including the threshold in the mixture model, are effectively estimated within a Bayesian modeling framework, and the uncertainty associated with the parameters is also provided. Comparing to the Daegwallyeong weather station, It was found that the proposed model is more effective for the regions in which less snow depth is observed.

  • Korea Stress Map database is built by integrating actual data of 1,400 in-situ stress measurements using hydraulic fracturing and overcoring method in South Korea. Korea Stress Map 2020 is presented based on the guideline proposed by World Stress Map Project. As detailed data, stress ratio and maximum horizontal stress direction distribution for each region are also presented. The dominant maximum horizontal stress direction in the Korean Peninsula is from northeast to southeast, and the magnitude of the in-situ stress is relatively distributed. There is some stress heterogeneity caused by local characteristics such as topographical and geological properties. We investigated case studies in which the in-situ stress was affected by mountainous topography, difference in rock quality of fracture zone, presence of mine or underground cavities, and geological structure of fault zone.

Study on the Occurrence of Tunnel Damage when a Large-scale Fault Zone Exists at the Top and Bottom of a Tunnel (대규모 단층대가 터널 상하부에 존재하는 조건에서 터널 변상 사례 연구)

  • Recently, along with the improvement of high-speed rail and road design speed, the proportion of tunnel construction work is increasing proportionally. In particular, the construction of long tunnels is rapidly increasing due to the mountainous terrain of our country. In this way, due to the trend of tunnels becoming longer, it is difficult to design and construct tunnels by avoiding fault zones. In the case of tunnel construction in mountainous areas, ground investigation is often difficult even during design due to the topographical conditions, making precise ground investigation difficult, and as a result, the upper part of the tunnel is damaged during tunnel construction. When fault zones, which are vulnerable to weathering, exist, the stability of the tunnel during excavation is directly affected by the fault zone distribution, strength characteristics, and groundwater distribution range. In particular, when a fault zone is distributed in the upper part of a tunnel, damage such as tunnel collapse and excessive displacement may occur, and in order to prevent this in advance, countermeasures must be established through analysis of similar cases. Therefore, in this study, when a large-scale fault zone exists in the upper part of a tunnel, the relationship and characteristics of damage to the tunnel structure were analyzed.

Analysis of Characteristics of Landslide Susceptibility in Rugged Mountain Range in the Korean National Park (산악형 국립공원지역의 산사태 발생과 취약지역 특성 분석)

  • In korea, debris-flow disasters are induced by typhoon and localized torrential rainfall annually. These disasters are particularly severe in the Korean national park due to its geomorphological characteristics. This study was conducted to analyze the landslide characteristics and forest environmental factors of landslide areas located in rugged mountain range in the Korean national park (Mt. Seorak, Mt. Jiri, and Mt. Sobaek). Overall, landslides occurred at 474 sites. The average area of the landslide scar among these sites was 1,212 ㎡. The average landslide sediment was 1,389 ㎥, average landslide length was 75 m, and the average width was 12.9 m. The landslides frequently occurred in regions with igneous rock and coniferous forest. In addition, slope gradient degree (31°-40°), slope gradient direction (N), vertical slope (concave), cross slope (concave), altitude (401-800 m), position (middle), stream order (first order), forest type (mixed), parent rock (igneous), and soil depth (<46 cm). The relationship between landslide soil volume and environmental factors showed positive correlation. The variables of vertical slope (complex), altitude (<1,201 m), and soil depth (<46 cm) correlated significantly at 1 % level.

A Study on the Accuracy of GNSS Height Measurement Using Public Control Points (공공기준점을 이용한 GNSS 높이측량 정밀도 분석 연구)

  • In order to construct a precision geoid, it has been diversified into land, sea, aviation, and satellite gravity measurement methods, and measurement technology has developed, making it possible to secure high-resolution, high-precision gravity data. The construction of precision geoids can be fast and conveniently decided through GNSS surveys without separate leveling, and since 2014, the National Geographic Information Institute has been developing a hybrid geoid model to improve the accuracy of height surveying based on GNSS. In this study, the results of the GNSS height measurement were compared and analyzed choosing existing public reference points to verify the GNSS height measurement of public surveys. Experiments are conducted with GNSS height measurements and analyzed precision for public reference points on coastal, border, and mountainous terrain presented as low-precision areas or expected-to-be low-precision in research reports. To verify the GNSS height measurement, the GNSS ellipsoid height of the surrounding integrated datum to be used as a base point for the GNSS height measurement at the public datum. Based on the checked integrated datum, the GNSS ellipsoid of the public datum was calculated, and the elevation was calculated using the KNGeoid18 model and compared with the results of the direct level measurement elevation. The analysis showed that the results of GNSS height measurement at public reference points in the coastal, border, and mountainous areas were satisfied with the accuracy of public level measurement in grades 3 and 4. Through this study, GNSS level measurement can be used more efficiently than existing direct level measurements depending on the height accuracy required by users, and KNGeoids 18 can also be used in various fields such as autonomous vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Geographical Impact on the Annual Maximum Rainfall in Korean Peninsula and Determination of the Optimal Probability Density Function (우리나라 연최대강우량의 지형학적 특성 및 이에 근거한 최적확률밀도함수의 산정)

  • This study suggested a novel approach of estimating the optimal probability density function (OPDF) of the annual maximum rainfall time series (AMRT) combining the L-moment ratio diagram and the geographical information system. This study also reported several interesting geographical characteristics of the AMRT in Korea. To achieve this purpose, this study determined the OPDF of the AMRT with the duration of 1-, 3-, 6-, 12-, and 24-hours using the method of L-moment ratio diagram for each of the 67 rain gages in Korea. Then, a map with the Thiessen polygons of the 67 rain gages colored differently according the different type of the OPDF, was produced to analyze the spatial trend of the OPDF. In addition, this study produced the color maps which show the fitness of a given probability density function to represent the AMRT. The study found that (1) both L-skewness and L-kurtosis of the AMRT have clear geographical trends, which means that the extreme rainfall events are highly influenced by geography; (2) the impact of the altitude on these two rainfall statistics is greater for the mountaneous region than for the non-mountaneous region. In the mountaneous region, the areas with higher altitude are more likely to experience the less-frequent and strong rainfall events than the areas with lower altitude; (3) The most representative OPDFs of Korea except for the Southern edge are Generalized Extreme Value distribution and the Generalized Logistic distribution. The AMRT of southern edge of Korea was best represented by the Generalized Pareto distribution.

A Numerical Study on the Effects of Buildings and Topography on the Spatial Distributions of Air Pollutants in a Building-Congested District (건물 밀집 지역에서 대기오염물질 분포에 미치는 건물과 지형의 영향에 관한 수치 연구)

  • Using a computationalfluid dynamics(CFD) model, thisstudy evaluated the representativeness of an air quality monitoring system (AQMS) in an urban area and presented a methodology to determine the suitable AQMS locations for specific purposes. For this, we selected a 1.6 km × 1.6 km area around the Eunpyeong-gu AQMS (AQMS 111181) as a target area. We conducted simulationsfor two emission scenarios (scenario one: air pollutants transported from inflow boundaries, scenario two: air pollutants emitted from roads). Urban airflows were markedly influenced by mountainous terrain located in the northeast and southeast of the target area, and complicated airflow patterns occurred around the buildings. The distributions of air pollutants were dependent on the terrain (mountain) in scenario one, but the road location and building height in scenario 2. We evaluated whether the AQMS could represent the air quality in the target area based on the simulations for two scenarios. The concentrations simulated at the AQMS were similar in magnitude to the layer mean concentrations, which indicated good representativeness for the air quality in the target area. We also suggested which locations were suitable for different measurement purposes (hot spots, clean zones, average zones, shelter zones, equi-background zones).

  • Landsat TM 영상을 이용, 명암차가 높은 산악 지역에 적용해왔던 알고리즘을 개선하여 비교적 명암차가 낮고 넓게 분포하는 충적층 지역의 선구조를 추출하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다. 수치지형모델(OEM)에 대하여 Local Enhancement 를 이용해서 평탄한 지역을 선정하여 이로부터 충적층을 추출하였다. Zevenbergen & Thorno's Method를 3×3 moving windowing을 통해서 최대 경사방향과 경사를 구해서 충적층을 지나는 선구조 요소를 추출하고 다시 Hough 변환을 이용해서 1차 선구조를 추출하였다 이를 이용하여 충적층의 직각방향의 지형단면의 경사를 유추해서 spline 보간법을 이용해 단면의 최저점을 구하고 이 구해진 점들을 다시 Hough 변환을 이용해서 최종 선구조를 추출하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 알고리즘은 기존 알고리즘에서 사용된 소창문보다 훨씬 큰 충적층이 분포하는 지역의 지형 경사가 수렴하는 부분에 선구조가 뚜렷이 나타남을 볼 수 있다. 최대경사방향과 경사를 구해서 얻어진 1 차선구조와 최종 선구조에서 선구조 방향이 다소 차이를 보인다. 1 차 선구조의 수직방향 지형단면의 자료를 이용함에 있어, 지형 단면의 시작정과 끝지점을 임의적으로 결정하는 것이 아니라, 충적층을 가로질러 최고점까지 또는 다음 충적층이 나을 때까지의 자료를 이용해서 보간법을 사용하였고, 충적층의 넓이에 따라 보간할 자료량의 차이에 의한 오차가 발생할 수 있다. 넓은 충적층에서 선구조가 잘 추출되는 반면에 좁은 충적층이 분포하거나 계곡에 해당하는 지역에l서는 경사수렴부와 일치하지 않는 선구조가 추출되었다. 이는 향후 계속적으로 연구해서 보완되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.페클 잡영 제거 정도에 있어 다른 필터들과 큰 차이가 없지만 경계선보존지수는 다른 필터들에 비하여 가장 우수함을 확인할 수 있었다.rbon 탐식효율을 조사한 결과 B, D 및 E 분획에서 유의적인 효과를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 종합해볼 때, ${\beta}$-glucan은 고용량일 때 직접적으로 또는 $IFN-{\gamma}$ 존재시에는 저용량에서도 복강 큰 포식세로를 활성화시킬 뿐 아니라, 탐식효율도 높임으로써 면역기능을 증진 시키는 것으로 나타났고, 그 효과는 crude ${\beta}$-glucan의 추출조건에 따라 달라지는 것을 알 수 있었다.eveloped.
