Study on the distribution of marine bacteria and the consumption of oxygen in Wonmun bay (원문만의 해양세균분포와 산소소모량에 관한 연구)

  • Hypoxic bottom $(\leq2.0ml/l),\;40\%\;oxygen\;saturation)$ is formed in the semi-closed Wonmun bay during summer and autumn early. This study was carried out to know seasonal distribution of marine bacteria and the role of marine bacteria for forming the hypoxic bottom at Wonmun bay during summer and autumn early, 1990. During the study periods, 170 bacterial strains were isolated from sea water and sediment. Viable cell counts were ranged between $10^5-10^7\;cells/ml$. The dominant species were Acinetobacter spp. in spring, Flavobacerium spp. in summer, Pseudomonas spp. in autumn, Serratia spp. in winter. Because ETSA(Electron Transport System Activity) reveals potential consumption of oxygen in the aquatic microorganisms, the ETSA was used as potential consumption of oxygen in this study. The potential consumption of oxygen was in the range of $232.4-637.5{\mu}l/O_2/l/day$ by marine organism and $142.6-432.4{\mu}l/O_2/l/day$ by marine bacteria during the study periods. The ratio of potential oxygen consumption of marine bacteria to total marine microorganism was 0.54. The potential consumption of oxygen by marine bacteria closely related with the number of viable cells. Consequently, bacteria play an important role to form Hypoxic bottom at marine environment.

  • 과거와 달리 유독가스가 생성되는 화재, 폭발, 화학사고 및 급격한 기압차를 경험하게 되는 선박 침몰 구조 등 다양한 재난 혹은 사고 상황에서 고압산소치료가 욕구되며, 이를 수행할 수 있는 고압산소치료챔버는 재난에 대응하는 핵심 자원으로 그 수량과 배치가 적절해야 한다. 따라서 다양한 종류의 재난에서 발생하는 유독가스 피해자에게 고압산소치료는 필수적이나 본 연구에 의하면 국내에는 고압산소치료챔버의 숫자와 동시에 고압산소치료로 수용할 수 있는 환자수에도 한계가 있고 그 분포의 불균형도 존재하고 있어 재난 시 인명 피해 감소의 기반 장비, 시설로서 고압산소챔버의 균형있는 확산, 적용이 시급한 실정이며, 이는 가칭 재난고압산소지수로 객관화할 수 있다. 국내에서는 인구밀집지역인 수도권이 고압산소치료가 필요한 재난에 대한 대응 기반이 부족하다가 향상되고 있으며 부산, 경남 권역에 고압산소치료 자원이 편중된 현상을 보이고 있다. 고압산소치료 필요한 대량의 중환자 발생 시는 국내 전체의 고압산소치료기 활용 여부에 대한 실시간 모니터링 시스템이 필요하고 필요 시 원거리 피해자 전원 시스템을 갖추어야 하므로 이는 향후 구축해야 할 사항으로 이를 위한 전국적 고압산소치료기 모니터링 시스템이 필요하다.

  • 국내에서 1980년대까지 연탄을 에너지로 많이 사용하면서 일산화탄소 중독이 빈번하여 고압산소치료가 활용되다가 이후 연탄 사용의 감소로 고압산소치료기가 대부분 활용되지 못하고 폐기되는 경우도 많았다. 이후 세월호 사고에서의 잠수사들에 대한 고압산소치료 적용, 가스누출이나 번개탄을 활용한 자살시도가 빈번해지며 고압산소치료기를 보유하고 있는 기관이 부족해 적절한 치료를 제 때 받지 못하여 고압산소치료기의 필요성이 되두되었다. 국내에서는 2021년 기준으로 한해 36,266 건의 화재가 발생하고 2020년에 365명이 화재로 사망하며, 화재로 인한 손상은 1,917건이었는데. 화재 시 여러 유독가스를 흡입하게 되고, 이에 따라 고압산소치료가 필수적으로 진행되어야 한다. 유해화학물질 사고, 대규모 오염, 다양한 교통수단에서의 대형 사고, 건축물 붕괴 사고 및 대규모 지진, 화산폭발 같은 자연재해 시에도 가스 중독이 발생하며, 이는 고압산소치료가 필요하게 된다. 따라서 다양한 종류의 재난에서 발생하는 유독가스 피해자에게 고압산소치료는 필수적이나 본 연구에 의하면 국내에는 고압산소치료챔버의 숫자와 동시에 고압산소치료로 수용할 수 있는 환자수에도 한계가 있고 그 분포의 불균형도 존재하고 있어 재난 시 인명 피해 감소의 기반 장비, 시설로서 고압산소챔버의 균형있는 확산, 적용이 시급한 실정이다. 다행히 최근 전국적으로 고압산소챔버가 증가하는 추세에 있어 그 현황과 배치 상황을 조사하여 이를 통하여 고압산소챔버가 필요한 유독가스 발행 재난에 대비할 수 있는 역량이 증가하고 있다.

Effcets of Initial Oxygen Concentration on Oxygen Pileup and the Diffusion of Impurities after High-energy Ion Impaltation (초기 산소 농도가 고에너지 이온 주입시 발생하는 산소 축적 및 불순물 확산에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, we have investigated experimentally the effects of initial oxygen concentration on oxygen pileup phenomenon and the diffusion of implanted impurities. 1.2 MeV $^{11}B^{+}$ and 2.2 MeV $^{31}P^{+}$ ions were implanted into p-type (100) Si wafers with a dose of 1${\times}10^{15}$ / $\textrm{cm}^2$. Secondary ion mass spectrometry(SIMS) measurements were carried out to obtain depth distribution profiles for implanted impurities and oxygen atoms after two-step annealing of $700^{\circ}C$(20 hours)+$1000^{\circ}C$(10 hours). Residual secondary defect distribution and annealing behabiour were also studied by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy(TEM) observations. Oxygen pileup nearly $R_p$(projected range) were observed by SIMS measurements and considerable amount of residual secondary defect layer were observed by TEM observations. It can be seen that oxygen atoms are trapped at the secondary defects by the experimental results. Enhanced diffusions of boron and phosphorus to the bulk direction were observed with the increasing of initial oxygen concentration.

  • A numerical study was conducted on the effects of the cusp magnetic field in 8" silicon single crystal grwoth by Czochralski method. For a damping effects simulation by magnetic field, low reynolds number ${\kappa} - {\varepsilon}$ model was adopted. Symmetrci cusp magnetic field has a effect of damping streamline crystal, is lowerd with the increasing cusp magnetic field intensity. The uniformity of the oxygen concentration was improved. The asymmetirc cusp magnetic field increased the oxygen concentration however, oxygen concentration distribution in the radial direction was remained uniform. Suitable combination of symmetric and asymmetric cusp magnetic fields could give uniform and low oxygen concentration in the axial direction.tion.

  • The telemetry system for the oxygen, pH, turbidity and the distribution ecology of fishes was constructed by the authors in order to product and manage effectively in shallow sea culture and setnets fisheries, and then the experiments for the telemetry system carried out at the culturing fishing ground in coast of Sanyang-Myon, Kyoungsangnam-Do and the set net fishing ground located Nungpo bay in Kojedo province respectively from October, 1997 to June 1998.As those results, the techniques suggested in the telemetry system for which find out the relationship between the physical and chemical environment in the sea and the distribution ecology of fishes gave full display its function, and its system could be operated as real time system. This research can also provide base-line data to develope a hybrid system unifying the marine environment information and the fisheries resources information in order to manage effectively coastal fishing ground.

Water Quality of the Yellow Sea in Summer (하계 황해의 수질 환경 특성)

  • The distributions of temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphate in the Yellow Sea are described from data collected in June and July, 1994. Based on the observations of water temperature and salinity, the fresh waters originated from the Changjiang River were found to affect the waters adjacent to Cheju Island. In the light of the distributions of dissolved oxygen and chemical oxygen demand, the western part of the Yellow Sea was worse in water quality than the eastern part. Based on data of nutrients, eutrophication indices of the western part were higher than those of the eastern part in summer. It is concluded that the western part of the Yellow Sea appeared to receive high pollution loads from rivers and was evaluated to have high potentiality of red tide occurrence.

  • The object of this experimental and simulation study is to find out heated temperature and range from the Oxy-acetylene cutting point of reinforcing bars (D10, D13, D16, D19, D22, D25 for each cases of SD3O and SD40) in room temperature ($20{\sim}22^{\circ}C$). This cutting is under the condition that a skilled worker cut one bar per a time. The results are these. 1. The temperature of the point 1 of reinforcing bars cut with Oxy-acetylene cutter is over 700$^{\circ}C$ under 1000$^{\circ}C$, but the temperature of the point 2 of reinforcing bars cut with Oxy-acetylene cutter is under 200$^{\circ}C$ 2. The temperature of the point that is apart 2cm from Oxy-acetylene cutting point is not over 200$^{\circ}C$, so reinforcing bars has not transform to be brittle. The results of simulation for temperatures of the each point apart from Oxy-acetylene cutting point is similar to upper experimental results.

  • Fuel cell has been well known as a clean alternative power for vehicles. Recently, an experimental technique has been developed measurement of species and distributions by using gas chromatograph. In this study, cathode channel oxygen distributions as various conditions were investigated using gas chromatograph and cell visualization. And discussed relation between flooding and oxygen concentrations. As a result of experiment, oxygen consumpt ion is affected wi th flooding. Flooding is observed in channel near hydrogen inlet, and oxygen consumption is low at that region.

  • NASA has a plan for the Artemis manned lunar mission in 2020. In 2030s, not only America but also other countries are considering to prepare for human to stay on the Moon at least for a month and necessary technology is currently being developed. With this plan, the mostly considered thing is lunar in-situ resource utilization. The most essential resources could be water and oxygen for sustain human life on the Moon. These resources are not supposed to be brought from the Earth, and it is economically sensible if they are obtained from the lunar surface. Because oxygen can be used as both oxidizer and propellent when a rocket departs from a lunar base directly to Mars, technology for extraction method of oxygen resource and its utilization has been being developed worldwide. This paper introduces oxygen distribution on the Moon and major oxygen extraction methods.
