Correlation between Cotyledon Numbers and some Needle Characteristics and 1-0 Seedling Growth of Pinus koraiensis (자엽수(子葉數)에 따른 잣나무 묘목(苗木)의 성장(成長) 및 침엽(針葉) 형질(形質)과의 상관(相關))

  • The aims of this study was to elucidate the correlation between cotyledon numbers and seedling growth and some other traits of Pinus koraiensis. The results are summurized as follows; 1. A highly significant correlations between numbers of coty ledons and juvenile needles was found but no significances between cotyledon numbers and juvenile needle length, width and stomata row numbers. 2. The accessory resin canals did not begin to appear before June but began to appear only small numbers of seedling after July. It was observed that the number of accessory resin canals of juvenile leaves at various growing stages were not related with the number of cotyledons. 3. In the case of adult leaves, there was a significant difference in the number of leaves and the number of cotyledons, but no significant difference between the number of cotyledons and needle length, needle width and stomata row. 4. There were significant differences in the number of cotyledons and top height growth, and root caliper growth among individuals and due to ages. 5. Seedlings with more than 12 cotyledons showed better growth than those with 9 to 11 cotyledons.

A Study on Land Use Change Prediction Using CLUE-s based on Urban Growth Scenarios (도시성장 시나리오와 CLUE-s 모형을 이용한 토지이용 변화 예측 연구)

  • 본 연구는 서울과 5대 광역시를 대상으로 (1) 과거추세가 연장되는 시나리오와 (2) 최근 활발하게 논의되고 있는 스마트 성장, 컴펙트 개발 등을 고려한 도시성장 시나리오를 전제로 미래의 토지이용의 변화를 예측하였다. 토지이용 변화 예측에는 로지스틱 회귀 분석을 기반으로 한 CLUE-s(Conservation of Land Use and its Effects at Small regional extent) 모형을 이용하였다. 토지이용 변화예측을 위해 WAMIS(WAter Management Information System)에서 제공하는 1975년부터 2000년까지의 5년 단위의 토지이용별 통계자료와 환경부에서 제공하는 2008년 토지이용도를 구축하였으며, 각 토지이용 항목은 총 6가지(시가지, 수역, 산림, 논, 밭, 초지)로 재분류하였다. 도시성장 시나리오는 지자체 조례에 따른 물리적 개발기준과 국토 환경성 평가 지도를 바탕으로 개발 제한 구역을 설정하고, 미래 인구변화와 토지수요 수요량 추정을 통해 미래 토지이용 변화 예측 시나리오를 구축하였다. 또한 도로망, 하천망과 유효 토심, 토양통 등을 고려한 토양 속성을 토지 피복 변화 예측을 위한 모형의 동적 요소(driving factor)로 대입하였다. 두 가지의 시나리오를 통해 미래 토지 이용 변화 예측결과 각 시나리오에 따라 확연히 다른 양상의 토지이용 변화 패턴을 보였다. 과거추세가 연장되는 시나리오에서는 물리적인 토지개발 기준 범위 내에서 무작위로 토지이용이 변화하며 시가지가 급속하게 성장하는 패턴을 보여주었다. 반면, 도시성장 시나리오를 전제로 하였을 경우 기존의 시가지와 연계하여 인근에 위치한 미개발지가 시가지로 변화하는 양상을 보였으며, 로그 추세로 증가 혹은 감소하는 패턴에 따라 변화폭이 줄어들며 종래에는 각 토지이용의 변화량이 0%로 수렴하는 모습을 보였다. 토지이용 변화 비율은 두 가지 시나리오 모두 주로 산지와 농지가 감소하고 시가지가 증가하는 모습을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 구축한 미래 토지이용 변화 시나리오는 수문생태계에 큰 영향을 주는 지표의 변화에 대해 회귀분석을 기반으로 정량적인 예측을 가능케 함으로써 기후변화 시나리오 등 다양한 미래 예측 시나리오와의 접목을 통해 미래 수자원 예측 연구에 활용도를 높일 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.

  • 1960년대 후반에 들어서면서 국내 경제가 급속도로 성장, 식량의 자급화와 산림 녹화 산업이 발달하게 되었고, 화학·철강·기계공업에 대한 투자와 함께 산업이 고도화되기 시작했다. 이와 함께 자연을 효율적으로 이용하기 위해 인공적으로 개조를 하는, 즉 종합적인 국토개발이 진행되었는데, 이는 인구의 증가와 더불어 생활의 영역이 확대되면서 발달된 토목 및 과학기술의 발달로 인해 가능한 것이었다. 1962년 제1차 경제개발 5개년 계획이 수립되면서 개발효과가 큰 경인특정지역과 공업단지를 위한 울산지역, 토지개간. 수자원개발을 위한 영산강지역 등을 중심으로 국토를 정비하고 주거의 환경을 개선하기 위한 국가적인 작업이 추진되었고 자연스럽게 건설 산업이 호황을 이루게 되었다.

  • 종래 생물이 지니는 능력을 능가하는 생물의 신종을 창성하므로서 폭발적으로 증가하는 인구의 의식주 특히 식량문제 해결에 기여하려는 육종이 과학과 기술의 발달이 신생국가의 건실한 성장의 필수요건이 되는 것은 물론이다. 더우기 인구의 반이상을 점하는 국민의 생업이 농업이요 국토의 3분지2를 점하는 것이 산림이요 도 국토의 삼면이 바다로 둘려 있는 신생 대한민국의 건전한 성장을 위해서는 농림산수산업의 조속한 발달이 급선무이기 때문에 해방후 UN의 한국재건단은 농림수산업의 세계적인 원숙한 기술자를 한국에 초빙하여 삼분야의 실태를 조사케하고 그재건과 발달에 대하여 자문을 받은 일은 당연한 일이었다. 따라서 대한민국 수립후 정부가 농업과학의 발달과 이에 의한 농촌근대화를 위하여 주력해 온것도 사실이며 농촌근대화 특히 식량의 자급달성에 있어서 주동적 역할을 하여 온 것이 육종의 과학과 기술이며 이에 의하여서 녹생혁명을 결과케 된것도 사실이다.

  • Through 7-year experiment in Korean pine stand since 1975, the followings are obtained as the results of investigation in several characters: 1. In total volume, the highest value after 1980 was shown in the control plot, which was the second one for 4 years, 1975 to 1979. 2. In the increment ratios of height, diameter at breast height(D. B. H.), and individual volume, the plot with the intermittent period of 3 years showed the higher values than any other plot.

  • In this study, it was examined the effect of carbonized wastewoods on soil improvement and effect of charcoal size on tree seedling growth Thuja accidentalis seedlings grow better in the charcoal-treated soil than in the non-treated soil. Especially Pinus koraiensis charcoal with good adsorption. brought the best growth result. The charcoal treatment also improved the height growth of transplanted Aesuculus turbinate seedling However charcoal sizes(i.e. powder and particle) did not affect the growth of the seedling. Also apple trees which had been suffering from rotten roots caused by root rot was recovered by application particle-sized charcoal.

  • The objective of this study was to determine the important factors affecting the early natural regeneration of Pinus densiflora S. et Z. Seed germination, survival and height growth of the pine seedlings were examined at four experimental plots of P. densiflora forests including forest roadside. Plots I and III were thinned in 1992, plot II was treated with hexazinone in 1993 after seed tree method was applied in 1982 and 1989. Seedlings emerged after thinning and the rate of their emergence depended on forest floor conditions. Seedling survival was related with light conditions, herbaceous vegetation, and degrees of rainfall. More seedlings emerged in forest hauling roads than within the forest because soil scarification due to logging provided better conditions for seed germination and seedling growth. Seed supply was enough, but germination rate was very low in the forest compared with that in the greenhouse because micro-environments such as organic layer and herbaceous plant acted as limiting factors. Weed control was needed for 4 to 5 years until seedlings grew upto about 50cm in height which was similar to that of herbaceous plants. But 10-40% coverage of herbaceous vegetation was needed to protect small seedlings from heavy rain. Forest works such as thinning and logging, over 40% of light were important factors to help the pine regeneration. However, over 70% coverage of herbaceous vegetation, and heavy rain inhibited rather survival and growth of pine seedlings.

  • The simple logistic growth model on the logistic curve, being originally a kind of population growth curve has also been sometimes utilized to describe growth curves in herbaceous plants such as duckweed and sun-flowers. It has already been recognized that the agreement between the theoretical calculations and the empirical observations is quite satisfactory form a practical point of view. It remains, however, still doubtful whether the logistic curve could be applied to the growth or ordinary woody plants which is quite different in its character from that of herbaceous plants. In this study, the simple logistic model, being a basic tool of stand density management, is applied to yield data from pine stands in order to test the adequacy of the model An attempt of testing the significance of the fit is made by applying the Chi-square test.

  • The resistance of a non-transgenic poplar clone, 'Ogy' and three transgenic poplar lines to the cottonwood leaf beetle, Chrysomela scripta F., was evaluated by in vitro feeding. The lines were transformed with neomycin phosphotransferase II(NPT II) as a selectable marker, proteinase inhibitor II(pin2) as a resistance gene, and CaMV 35S as a promoter. An efficient method of sterilizing the beetle eggs and introducing them into plant tissue cultures was developed. The resistance of the transgenic lines was investigated in terms of effects tin leaf area consumed, insect weight, insect developmental stages, and plantlet root dry weight after feeding. Also, leaf area consumed was examined by leaf age as measured through leaf plastochron index(LPI). The leaf area consumed and insect weight were highly significant between transformants and control, and insect development in vitro was significant among the transgenic lines. Larval infestation was the most severe around LPI 4 to 5 which were young leaves. The system provided a quick, highly controlled method to screen developing transgenic plantlets directly.

  • The research was carried out to investigate the related phenomena, the latent structures and synthetical characteristics in various growth factors of Phyllostachys bambusoides Sieb. et Zucc. growing at Damyang gun, Chollanamdo, using multivariate analysis. 1. By synthetical characteristics in canonical correlation between height-growth factor group and diameter-growth factor group, the former was determined by the culm height ($x_1$), and the latter by the. diameter of the largest internode($x_7$). And for those between quantitative growth factor group and qualitative growth factor group, the former was determined by the surface area($x_{10}$), and the latter by the diameter of the largest internode ($x_7$). 2. The ten growth factors of bamboo culm were simplified by two principal components on the basis of accumulated proportion aimed at 90%. The first principal component($Z_1$) as a "size factor" showed high correlation with growth factors except eye-height diameter($x_5$). The second principal component($Z_2$) as a "shape factor" showed high correlation only with $x_5$. 3. The bamboo culm, and the latent phenomenon between their growth factors could be determined by two common factors showing high communality(94.16%). The ten growth factors can be grouped into two attribute factors: quantity and quality. 4. The bamboo culms can be classified into five types: total, volume, shape-quality, inferior and middle.
