In February 2021, 1949 adults over the age of 19 were surveyed through an online and mobile survey by Gallup Korea. Descriptive statistics analysis, variance analysis, Borich needs analysis, and IPA analysis were conducted to analyze the needs of well-aging education. The results revealed economic power, exercise, and chronic disease management to be high in terms of the overall priority of the education needs for well-aging, and infectious disease management, independence, and social responsibility were surveyed in the order of low education needs. In terms of economic power, education needs were highest among all age groups except for the middle-age group (35-49 years old), 82.4% of all respondents, and education needs for exercise and chronic disease management were highest in the middle-age group. Therefore, it is necessary to develop well-aging education programs for each life cycle. These results are expected to be used as empirical data in establishing a platform for developing and operating educational programs for well aging.

  • The labor contract Law has been prepared as an important solution for social stability. After long disputes around the orientations of the law, On June 29, 2007, the new Chinese labor contract law is passed. This law reflects the changing labor relations because of economic reforms like restructuring of the state-owned enterprises and so on. This law contains more market-oriented clauses that are supplemented by corporatist scheme supported by trade unions than the first draft. This law emphasize labor's rights and interests to remove prior labor contract problem. So Chines government see this law as standard law to restructure social relationship and also require firms to corporate social responsibility. Therefore, implementation of the new Chinese labor contract law bring about increasing labor cost, infringement of autonomy for human resource management, rigidity of industrial relations. Under these situation, Korean shipping and port logistics companies need to introduce management system of minimized employment, prepare human resource management in response to long-term employment, maintain favor relationship with trade union, and set up counteiplan about risk of a labor dispute.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of corporate mecenat activities, ultimately making more firmly established the theory of mecenat activities from the perspective of marketing. For the purpose, this researcher examined the motives of such activities and analyzed the current state and problems of those activities in Korea. In this study, the motives of corporate mecenat activities are largely classified into the improvement of corporate image, which is identified from the view of cultural investment, and direct corporate profits like tax favor, from the view of marketing. Regarding the effects of corporate mecenat activities, P. Kotler and J. Scheff suggested that in future, corporate supports to art would be the most remarkable part of marketing. In association, the Australian Foundation for Culture & Humanities and Arthur Andersen described the effects of corporate mecenat activities in form of cultural investment largely in terms of business, market and employees. In a similar vein, the Korea Business Council for the Arts classifies the effects of corporate mecenat activities largely into three, corporate legitimacy, market advantage and benefit to employees. In relation to corporate mecenat activities, now, the theory of mecenat which is established from the perspective of marketing is considered more persuasive than that which is provided from the perspective of philanthropy. For more corporate efficiency and effectiveness, in conclusion, it's needed to orient the theory of mecenat from the perspective of marketing.

  • Corporate ESG performance (environmental, social, and corporate governance) reflecting a company's strategic sustainability has emerged as one of the main factors in today's investment decisions. The traditional ESG performance rating process is largely performed in a qualitative and subjective manner based on the institution-specific criteria, entailing limitations in reliability, predictability, and timeliness when making investment decisions. This study attempted to predict the corporate ESG rating through automated machine learning based on quantitative and disclosed corporate financial information. Using 12 types (21,360 cases) of market-disclosed financial information and 1,780 ESG measures available through the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability during 2019 to 2021, we suggested a deep neural network prediction model. Our model yielded about 86% of accurate classification performance in predicting ESG rating, showing better performance than other comparative models. This study contributed the literature in a way that the model achieved relatively accurate ESG rating predictions through an automated process using quantitative and publicly available corporate financial information. In terms of practical implications, the general investors can benefit from the prediction accuracy and time efficiency of our proposed model with nominal cost. In addition, this study can be expanded by accumulating more Korean and international data and by developing a more robust and complex model in the future.

  • As the social responsibility of corporations becomes more important, recently, many corporations have made constant efforts to preserve natural environment. Environmental investments had been traditionally thought as cost factors and sources of negative effects on a firm's financial performances. In this study, we explore the relation of financial and environmental performances of Korean corporations. We use default probability as well as ROE as indicators of financial performances. We find that there is positive correlation between ROE and environmental performance, and negative correlation between default probability and environmental performance. This implies that Korean corporations should recognize environmental investment as means of improving corporate value.

  • This study intends to apply the concept of reputation as a tool to positively build an evaluation of the CEO, the CEO of a company. It aims to develop tools to manage the reputation of the CEO and empirically explore the value of the tools use. As a result of the study, reliability, customer management, strategic vision, employee management, and social responsibility were derived as the constituent factors of CEO reputation, and it was confirmed that the relationship between CEO reputation and organizational favorability was statistically causal. Furthermore, the relationship between CEO reputation and product purchase intention was also statistically significant. It was confirmed that if the CEO's reputation was positively managed, it could help the stakeholders to evaluate the company to which the CEO belongs, as well as to purchase the products provided by the company. One of the ways to be well-received by various stakeholders in a corporate environment where uncertainty is intensifying is a reputation management system for CEOs, and CEOs themselves should recognize that their reputation can affect the organization and pay attention to reputation management.
