  • This study developed a relapse prevention program for substance abusing women and evaluated its effectiveness. The major contents of the program include to enhance cognitive and behavioral coping skills, to identify and expand supportive social networks, and to deal with women-related issues. The program was operated 3 times with 24 female clients in a probation office in Seoul from August 2003 to October 2004. The program changed the participants' attitudes toward substance use and improved their drug-refusal skills. This study mentions that the findings may be useful for practitioners as well as researchers because this study was first one that dealt with a women-only group in Korea. Finally, this study suggests that more studies be conducted in order to provide better understandings on substance abusing women and more effective interventions skills.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyse the reality and dynamics of transition of work-family reconciliation policy and gender regime in Germany to focus on recent introduction of parents benefit by applying meta path analysis. There is made of 'layering' in work-family reconciliation policy area. Because political barrier has alleviated they can introduce parents benefit, but cannot help stick to child care benefit because of internal barrier. But because parents benefit has activated by 'differential growth', German gender regime has suffered core transition of complementation that dominant structure has changed from 'sequential reconciliation' to 'concomitant reconciliation'. On the other hand, by 'purposeful decoupling' of gender area, core activists have attempted to cut the possibility of weakening of coordination relationship on main institutional areas of German model.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how the long-term care effects the elderly that adapt themselves to the caring facility, what their experiences are and what kinds of behavioral characteristics they present. We have analyzed the research conducted on 15 elderly individuals who are living in an elderly long-term care facility, by using the grounded theory approach of Strauss and Corbin (1998). As a result, 170 concepts, 42 sub-categories, and 15 categories were set by the open coding process. During the adaptation process in a long-term care facility, the primary experience or feeling by the elderly is that they had been 'deserted'. However, when consolidating the casual conditions, contextual conditions, intervening conditions, the action/interaction strategy, and consequence, the primary experience was that the elderly came to an 'acceptance'. Such acceptance was then sub-categorized into a destiny-resignation type, reality-acceptance type, and voluntary-selection type. Based on the results of this study, we recommend practical alternatives which will improve surrounding circumstances including caring facilities, its employees, relationships with other elderly individuals, and family support.

This study was a secondary data analysis from the $4^{th}$ Korean Working Conditions Survey(KWCS). The sample included 179 foreign workers. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22 and AMOS 22. As a results, the hypothetical path model was a good fit. In the path analysis, health status, social support, work time, job satisfaction had statistically significant effects on foreign workers's work-life balance and these variables explained 24.9% of work-life balance. These results reveal the predictors of work-life balance in foreign workers. Therefore, we need the active support for work-life balance predictors.

  • This study examines the compensation scheme for the executives and risk-taking behavior in the Korean banks. Theoretically, shareholders prefer risky asset choice to the optimal one due to the limited liability feature of reward, and stock-based executive compensation may induce choices favorable to the shareholder. We empirically test this risk-taking hypothesis using Korean banks' data. Since only the stock option data is available under the current disclosure system, we limit our analysis to examine the relationship between the compensation through stock option and the risk of banks. The result provides no evidence that stock option compensations increase the risk of banks, which is contrary to the theoretical prediction and preceding studies in the US. This may be due to any factor that the executive reward data omit, or regulation effects on the bank management.

  • The introduction of multimedia 119-notification service utilizing smart devices causes firefighters to be more exposed to emotional labor. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of increased emotional labor of firemen on job satisfaction. As a result, the higher the emotional labor of firefighters is, the higher job stress (${\beta}=0.166$, p=0.000) and social support(${\beta}=0.540$, p=0.000) are. But job satisfaction tends to be lower(${\beta}=-0.136$, p=0.000). As they play an important role to protect the safety and property of citizens. their job satisfaction becomes the driving force of their duty. Therefore, we think that some systematic and substantial prevention curriculum to manage their emotional labor is required.

The relationship between general characteristics of subjects and health promoting lifestyle showed significant differences according to duty cycle(t=4.15, p=.042), disease experience (t=5.18, p=.023), monthly income(F=3.13, p=.025), exercise frequency(F=9.12, p=.000), stress reliefe method(F=5.98, p=.000), job satisfaction(t=11.44, p=.000), and perceived fatigue(F=6.13, p=.002). 3. • This study analyzed difference in national pension receipt on life satisfaction and successful aging in people aged 60 or over, and then analyzed influence factors on them. As a result, The difference of receipt affected life satisfaction and successful aging. This means a large receipt is related to high life satisfaction and successful aging. The regression analysis result also showed the difference of receipt was significant in life satisfaction, but wasn't significant in successful aging. National pension receipt can increase life satisfaction by providing financial security, but for successful aging, social supports like good use of spare time are needed. Also, currently satisfaction with national pension receipt was low and receipt wasn't enough to stabilize their lives. Therefore, a political plan for improving receipt satisfaction and living a stable life through good use of spare time will be required in future.

  • One of the key features of the Korean labor market is that, even though the central axis of employment has shifted from manufacturing sector to service sector, the ratio of part-time work is very low. Its major reasons are low wage rate, insufficient fringe benefits including social insurance, and deficient job security, even though part-time work has positive characteristics. This study examines whether part-time work would be a decent one and an alternative to full-time work by answering two questions: one is who chooses part-time work and another is whether part-time work is satisfactory. Analyses of 3,971 wage workers in the 8th wave of the Korea Labor and Income Panel Survey reveal that, as expected, part-time work is prevalent among the young, married women, and the old supporting the results from previous studies and that choosing part-time work on one's initiatives has a significant positive effect on job satisfaction for women while it is not for men. Form the result, it can be concluded that part-time work can be an appropriate alternative for full-time work if one chooses it voluntarily.
