Purpose: A structural equation model was analysed to explore the determinants of health behaviors of university students in Korea. Method: Nine hundred sixty nine university students were selected by random cluster sampling from five universities located in the central area of Korea. Data collection: The data was collected by questionnaires about demographic characteristics, stressful life events, perceived social support, perceived health status and health behaviors. Results: 1. Gender showed indirect effect on health behaviors. 2. Living together with(out) family had a direct effecton health behaviors: students living with family showed more positive health behaviors. 3. Stressful life events had an indirect effect on health behaviors via perceived health status; a higher score of stressful life events was the predictor for negative health behaviors. 4. A higher score of perceived health status predicted positive health behaviors. Recommendation: Each university should be encouraged to develop a health behavior control program and health promotion program for their own university students. It would be more effective to develop health programs separately according to the demographic or social characteristics of the students. It is also necessary for the Ministry of Education to reform the School Health Act and school health policy to strengthen a health promotion program for university students. In conclusion, following studies should identify and promote the validity and reliability of perceived health status and health behaviors measurements.
The purpose of this study was to investigate stresses from job, patients and guardians experienced by general hospital nurses caring for elderly patients and their stress coping methods. For this study, data were collected from 280 nurses employed at general hospitals with the capacity of more than 400 beds which were located in Seoul. Frequency analysis, t-test and one-way ANOVA were utilized to analyze the data and Scheffe test was used to conduct post-hoc tests. This study found that, of the general hospital nurses' three types of stresses, stress from guardians was the most serious one, followed by stress from patients and stress from job; and that, of the six coping methods utilized by the general hospital nurses, social support was the most-utilized one, followed by problem-focused coping strategy, positive perspective, tension relaxation, indifference and hopeful perspective. Based on these findings, follow-up studies were suggested to develop the hospital nurses' abilities to cope with the ever-changing complex circumstances for the elderly patients.
This study is a qualitative study using focus group interview to explore the perception regarding smartphone use for adhering to self-care in chronic heart failure patients. Eleven patients who were diagnosed with heart failure were included. Three focus groups were held with heart failure patients at an outpatient cardiac care center. The focus group discussions were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using the method of constant comparative analysis. The 12 sub-themes were categorized into 'perception of smartphone use', 'Barriers to smartphone use', and 'Facilitators to smartphone use'. We found that the need to design tailored the messages or health information based on individual preferences. Our findings will be used to develop or design a smartphone based self-care program for patients with heart failure.
The purpose of this study is to specifically investigate the factors that affect maintenance, relapse, and recovery after the abstinence of female drug addicts. For such purpose, ten females who repeated drug addiction and are currently in recovery were selected as the study participants to carry out in-depth interviews. The original materials were analyzed using descriptive phenomenological methods of Giorgi. The results of the analysis showed that most participants experienced discrimination and inhospitable treatment in their childhood. They began taking drugs as an escape from their difficult realities or out of curiosity and worked at adult entertainment establishments, living as a drug addict for a long time. Drugs gave them extreme sexual pleasure and it was difficult for them to recover as their body became dependent on drugs. However, as they experienced religious awakening or existential existence, they gained an opportunity for newly understanding themselves. Social support was an essential resource for their recovery. However, various kinds of trauma that they experienced in their lives acted as a factor to worsen drug addiction. Based on the study results, this study proposes spirituality, actual programs, and trauma treatment approaches that can contribute to the restructuring of life.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine and compare the academic engagement, academic burnout, stress, and social support among undergraduate nursing students by grade. Methods: The study is a descriptive comparative survey. The participants were 247 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in 3 universities located in G city. The collected data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, $x^2$ tests, and analysis of covariance, using SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: The students showed significant differences in academic engagement, academic burnout, and stress according to their grade. The post-hoc analysis results showed that sophomores and juniors had lower academic engagement and higher academic burnout and stress than others (i.e., freshmen, or seniors). There was no significant difference in social support among nursing students. Academic engagement had a positive correlation with social support and a negative correlation with academic burnout and stress. Also, academic burnout had a positive correlation with stress and a negative correlation with academic engagement and social support. Conclusion: The findings indicate that nursing students in second and third grade were at risk of academic burnout and under severe stress. Therefore, sophomores and juniors need more attention and care to help them relieve and control stress and burnout and to improve their academic engagement. Also, the findings should be considered when developing plans and/or interventions for nursing students' major adjustment and academic achievement.

Methods: A non-equivalent control group was used in this interventional study. A total of 50 patients with cancer aged above 19 in the K university hospital, Seoul, Korea, participated in the study (Experimental group: n=25, Control group: n=25). The education about chemotherapy was offered one week after hospital discharge, which was followed by telephone counseling Data were analyzed by the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program using percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, $x^2$ test, and independent t-test. Results: The experimental group showed a significantly better self-care knowledge (t=4.094, p<.001), self-care performance (t=3.532, p=001), family support (t=2.170, p=.035), and anxiety control (t=4.780, p<.001) than the control group. Conclusion: The findings suggest that the individual education should be considered for cancer patients and their family in the clinical fields.
In order to investigate variables related to the life satisfaction of women from the multi-cultural families, this study collected relevant studies and applied meta-analysis. As a result, it was found, first, their life satisfaction was between the small effect size and the moderate effect size, on the basis of the relevant variables and Cohen's standards(1992). Second, of the sub variables of their individual characteristic variable, Korean proficiency and nationality acquisition were found to be the small effect size. Third, of the sub variables of their psychological variable and multiple culture-related variable, the effect sizes of self-esteem and the receptive attitude towards multiple cultures were found to be between the moderate effect size and the large effect size. Fourth, the sub variables of their social support variable were found to be generally highly correlated with their life satisfaction. Fifth, the sub variables of daily life and spouse-related variables showed very low levels of effect size overall. This study suggested conclusions and limitations of the research based on the results of the above analyses.
The Purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among incivility, coping, burnout and career identity to clinical practice. The subjects were 199 nursing students from two college in Gwang-ju. A self-report questionnaire was used to collect data on incivility, coping, career identity and burnout. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test, ANOVA, and Multiple regression by SPSS ver. 23.0. 87.9% of subjects experiences incivility in clinical practice. Incivility was positively correlated with burnout(r=.27, p<.001). but Incivility was nagatively correlated with career identity(r=-.24, p=.001). Career identity was nagatively correlated with burnout(r=-.62, p<.001). The predictors on burnout were incivility, coping and career identity. These variables have total explanatory power of 48.6% on burnout.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to construct and test a structural equation model of quality of work life for clinical nurses based on Peterson and Wilson's Culture-Work-Health model (CWHM). Methods: A structured questionnaire was completed by 523 clinical nurses to analyze the relationships between concepts of CWHM-organizational culture, social support, employee health, organizational health, and quality of work life. Among these conceptual variables of CWHM, employee health was measured by perceived health status, and organizational health was measured by presenteeism. SPSS21.0 and AMOS 21.0 programs were used to analyze the efficiency of the hypothesized model and calculate the direct and indirect effects of factors affecting quality of work life among clinical nurses. Results: The goodness-of-fit statistics of the final modified hypothetical model are as follows: ${\chi}^2=586.03$, ${\chi}^2/df=4.19$, GFI=.89, AGFI=.85, CFI=.91, TLI=.90, NFI=.89, and RMSEA=.08. The results revealed that organizational culture, social support, organizational health, and employee health accounted for 69% of clinical nurses' quality of work life. Conclusion: The major findings of this study indicate that it is essential to create a positive organizational culture and provide adequate organizational support to maintain a balance between the health of clinical nurses and the organization. Further repeated and expanded studies are needed to explore the multidimensional aspects of clinical nurses' quality of work life in Korea, including various factors, such as work environment, work stress, and burnout.
