The Application of Case Management to the Self-support Program (자활사업에서의 사례관리 적용에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • This article focuses on the use of case management in the Self-support program. Case management is a service modality which provides integrated services for people with multiple needs in the community. The goal to accomplish self-sufficiency of working participants in Self-Support Programs is positively affected by the efforts to reduce high social risks they are exposed. It is recommended that the agencies running Self-support programs apply case management to increase the quality of lives as well as the effectiveness of exiting statuses of conditional welfare recipients. Several service considerations of case management are recommended for the change in the structure and functioning of the Self-Support Program: Integrated view and contextualized thinking, empowerment-oriented approach, and a development of the community support system through networking. Types of case management and practice roles of the case manager applicable to the Self-Support Program are also recommended. Structural aspects of an organization, inter-organizational linkages and contextual factors need to be considered to improve problematic conditions that have not enough resources and appropriate authorities in providing case management functions.

Distancing Philosophy from the Real Ruling Power, a Philosophical Belief or an Opportunist Behavior Compromising with Reality? - centered on Kim Tae-Gil - (현실 권력과의 거리두기 철학(함), 철학적 소신인가 현실 타협적 기회주의 행태인가 -김태길을 중심으로-)

  • In this paper, the main subjects with which I deal are as follows: (1) Is Distancing Philosophy from the real ruling power a way of practical-philosophical resistance, based on social reformation as a axiological directivity of Kim Tae-Gil's ethical thought, though it is negative type of resistance? Or is it a sort of transformed value-free opportunist behavior which allows antidemocratic ruling group to coerce the people into submission, assuming an uncompromising stand seemingly? (2) Is Kim's defense argument on the opening of the course of National Ethics and the all-out activation of National Ethics education under Park's Yushin Regime derived from his own philosophical belief? Or is it brought out from the external conditions and circumstances surrounding Kim Tae-Gil which forces him to participate in the national undertaking for the settlement of the course of National Ethics in the university? The 'provisional' answers about the two subjects are as follows: (1) Kim's Distancing Philosophy is a type of practical philosophical revolt against the dictatorship power under Yushin Regime, though it is negative form of resistance. We can accept this philosophical elucidation above all by confirming the fact that the reform of reality is the main ethical trait running through his entire ethical thought system. However distancing philosophy disclose the crucial limits to allow itself to boil to the philosophical practice compromising with real ruling power eventually, though it is intended upon its own social ethical directivity and conviction. (2) The primary factor which affects Kim to propose such an advocation argument on the course of National Ethics and the education of National Ethics is the external conditions and circumstances surrounding him, especially the power-relation between he and ruling group and intimate human relation between he and his superior philosophers who carries out the role of a ideologue for the Yushin Regime, rather than his own philosophical belief. But no matter what primary factor, Kim's action to make a advocating argument to support the course and the education of National Ethics is to blame, on that account that he cannot adequately his social responsibility and role given to him as a reformist moral philosopher who will pursue the realization of righteous democratic society. Along with that, It is not too enough to criticize him sharply for such defending action. The reason is that his supporting stance for National Ethics education is brought out, by not adhering closely to the philosophical way of distancing from the dictatorial power devoid of political legitimacy and moral justification.

Factors Associated with Behavioral Intention to COVID-19 Social Distancing in Loss versus Gain Advertising Context (COVID-19 사회적 거리두기 실천의도에 영향을 미치는 요인: 손실과 이득 메시지 프레이밍 광고상황)

  • Purposes of this study were to identify the factors associated with behavioral Intention to social distancing (BItSD) in a loss versus gain advertising context. This study is a secondary analysis of data surveyed after randomly allocating one of the loss and gain message framing advertisements for the prevention of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) infection to 379 adults aged 19 and over living in Korea in early March 2021. Attitude toward advertisement (𝛽=.03, p<.001), involvement in COVID-19 (𝛽=.14, p=.006) and emotional stigma (𝛽=-0.17, p<.001) were associated with BItSD, and the explanatory power of these variables was 19% (Adjusted R2=.19). Therefore, when health care professionals communicate with the public, they should develop the strategies to increase public people's involvement in the information and to induce positive advertising attitudes, and provide the effective messages to prevent stigma by accurate information.

학교 환경교육 10년 - 평가와 전망

  • 환경운동 10년의 결과 '생태적 감수성'이라는 '감성영역'이 새롭게 개발되고 보편화 되었으며, 녹색소비의 정신이 확산되고, '환경'은 늘 관심을 기울어야 하는 '문제영역'으로 설정될 수 있었다. 이는 환경교육에도 확산되어, 녹색소비 운동과 관리주의적 실천은 이제 보편화되었다. 지방정부에서 '의제21'을 채택하여 개발연대에 직강화된 '도시하천'의 생태적 복원이 활발하게 진행중이고, 초중고교의 '녹색화' 사업이 생태숲이나 생태연못 등등의 명칭하에 진행중이다. 한편 '환경교육진흥법'은 아직 계류중이긴 하나, 경기도와 같이 지방정부 수준에서 체험적 생태교육 시설을 정책적으로 확장해 나가고자 하는 흐름도 있다. 또한 1999년의 동강댐 반대투쟁, 2003년과 2004년의 새만금 저지투쟁과 부안항쟁을 거치면서 생명의 소중함에 대한 인식은 이제 '생명권' 개념의 확산을 앞두고 있을 정도로 보편화되고 있다. 그리고 이는 생태적 감수성을 함양하는 '체험 환경교육'의 보편화로 나타나고 있다. 하지만 교과교육으로서의 환경교육과 체험학습 영역의 환경교육은 '접점'을 찾지 못하고 있다. 한편으로 온 나라를 떠들썩하게 만드는 '환경갈등'에 대하여 그것의 '뿌리'를 완전히 뽑아내는 방식의 '재발 방지' 정치적 성과는 제대로 축적되고 있지 못하며, 환경교육은 '환경갈등'의 정치경제적 속성을 정면으로 응시하고 있지 못하다. 2004년의 환생교사업방향중 하나가 '사회적 실천'을 강조하는 흐름이었던 것은 바로 이와 같은 사정을 반영한다. '생태적 감수성'은 실천이라기 보다 안주와 '누림'의 영역으로 되기 십상이었기에 그러하며 실제로 상품화된 '생태기행'의 등장은 그런 맥락에서 이해된다. 그럼에도 이는 10년전 '군사문화'가 우리안에 살아있던 것에 비하면 분명 큰 진전이다. 군사훈련식의 수련활동이 생명과 생태에 대한 감수성을 일깨우는 '생태적 감수성' 함양으로 전환된 것이 단적인 경우이다. 이제 이러한 성과를 토대로 이후 학교환경교육 10년을 전망할 수 있어야 하겠다. 필자는 그 화두를 '환경정의'와 '생태적 합리성'에서 찾고자 한다. 생태적 감수성 키우기가 상업화 단계에 이를 정도로 보편화되었다면, 이를 바탕으로 '생태적 합리성'이라는 체계적인 지식교육을 거쳐서, '환경정의' 의식의 제고로 이어가고, 굵직한 '환경갈등'의 상황에서 뚜렷한 정치적 태도와 실천을 할 수 있는 '생태적 인간상'의 육성으로 나아갈 수 있어야 한다는 것이 필자의 생각이다. 이를 위해서는 어찌되었건 체험학습 영역에서는 환경현안에 대한 사회적 실천을 '교육 소재'로 삼을 수 있어야 하며, 교과학습 영역에서는 한국사회의 환경현안에 대한 정치경제적 접근을 외면하지 말고 교과서 저작의 소재로 삼을 수 있어야 하며, 이는 '환경관리주의'와 '녹색소비'에 머물러 있는 '환경 지식교육'과 실천을 한단계 진전시키는 작업으로 이어질 것이다. 이후 10년의 환경교육은 바로 '생태적 합리성'과 '환경정의'라는 두 '화두'에 터하여 세워져야 한다.

A Study on the Subjective Perception Patterns of Social Workers to Corporate Philanthropy in Social Work Field (사회복지분야의 기업 사회공헌활동에 대한 사회복지사의 주관적 인식유형 연구)

  • This study started with concerns for corporate philanthropy that is emerging as an alternative for resource development of social work field in Korea. However, corporate philanthropy is not operating as an accomplished conception yet, but as a type of the practical discourse. Therefore corporate philanthropy is interpreted a multiplicity of meanings is used ambiguously in social work practice field. This is because theoretical reviews on the conceptual thinking of corporate philanthropy are scant and is in need of empirical inquires into conceptual perception of social workers who uses this concept as a stakeholder to corporate philanthropy. After analyzing the data using Q methodology, the result shows that social workers' major perception patterns on corporate philanthropy perspective consists of three patterns; Win-Win Partnership, Social-obligation, Strategic Materialism. These patterns are classified by the dimension of 'classical view', 'socio-economic view', 'modern view' and 'philanthrophic view'. This result will attribute to develop theories, social work practice program and social worker' training program related corporate philanthropy. And to give facilities for lucid communication among practice and theory in social work field as it materializes the explicit conception of corporate philanthropy that is understood ambiguously in Korea.

A study on the direction of Multicultural Faith Community Education in Korean churches : Focusing on the Holistic mission of Elizabeth J. Shepping (한국교회 다문화 신앙공동체교육의 방향성 연구 : 서서평의 통전적 선교를 중심으로)

  • Purpose of Research: This study aims to gain insights into the direction of multicultural faith community education, which is a part of multicultural Christian education that contemporary Korean churches should establish, based on the holistic mission practices of missionary Elizabeth J. Shepping. Research Content and Method: The study begins with a brief overview of the life of missionary Elizabeth J. Shepping, who experienced multicultural living in various countries, highlighting the prepared professional missionary within the context of her time. The study then examines the details of her holistic mission practices as a professional missionary. The direction of multicultural faith community education in Korea is explored by understanding the background and research trends of multicultural Christian education that Korean society and the Korean church are currently facing. Practical aspects, supplementary points, and directions for the future implementation of multicultural faith community education in the Korean church are also proposed. Results and Conclusions: In conclusion, This study emphasizes multicultural faith community education as a component of the pastoral paradigm that the Korean church needs to improve. Four practical directions are proposed: first, education for holistic service; second, education for social and public practice; third, implementation of public service education linked to the local community; and fourth, activation of dedicated service departments and training of professional leaders. However, the study acknowledges a limitation in not providing specific practical programs for multicultural faith community education suitable for the Korean church context. Continuous research is necessary through various supplementary points in the future.

An Exploratory Study on the Experience of Service Convergence in the Social Welfare Field (사회복지 현장의 서비스 융복합 경험에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how to develop the related competency by exploring the service convergence experience of social workers in the social welfare field. For this purpose, social workers were organized into focus groups to reflect various fields and experiences of the social welfare, and the focus group interview method was implemented. The results of this study are as follows: First, research participants who are social workers of the field recognized positive effects and experiential limitations in the experience of providing convergent services through collaboration with various professionals. Second, research participants experienced the necessity of convergence services, while being asked for various roles in the extended area. Finally, research participants propose a plan to develop competencies required in social welfare environment where a convergent approach is required. Based on the results of this study, it was prepared that basic data for the development of practical competency in the social welfare field.

The Relationship between Social Relations and Physical Activity in the Young-old and Old-old Elderly (전·후기 노인들의 사회적 관계와 신체활동 실천과의 관련성)

  • Objectives: This study aims to reveal the relationship between social relations and physical activity in the young-old and old-old elderly. Methods: Data from 2020 National survey of Older Koreans were used, and a total of 10,097 subjects over the age of 65 were included in analysis. The dependent variable was physical activity, and the independent variables were social relations barrier and motivational factors. x2-test and binary logistic regression were performed for data analysis. Results: The physical activity rate in the elderly were 40.8% in the young-old and 29.2% in the old-old. The socio-demographic characteristics affecting physical activity were the young-old elderly were sex, residential area, employment status and household income, and the old-old elderly were sex, age, residential area, education level and household income. The social relations barrier factors affecting physical activity were the young-old elderly were number of close friends, family care, exercise information search and video viewing, and the old-old elderly were household type, number of close friends, participation in exercise education, exercise information search and video viewing. The social relations motivational factors affecting physical activity were the young-old elderly were call with children/relative/friend, participation in sports activity, access time from home to parks, and the old-old elderly were call with children/relative/friend, participation in sports activity, satisfaction with green spaces. Conclusions: It was found that social relations barrier and motivational factors of the elderly are important factors to consider when developing physical activity promotion strategy, and there are also difference between the age of the elderly.
