Collision between Welfare and Work in a South Korean Welfare-to-Work Program (사회복지와 노동시장의 연계가 초래한 근로연계복지의 딜레마 -자활사업의 사례를 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to analyze fundamental dilemmas of welfare-to-work programs, which aim to introduce labor market principles to the welfare system. Through a qualitative case study of a South Korean welfare-to-work program (the self-sufficiency program), this study demonstrates that various institutional problems are an inevitable consequence of such welfare-to-work programs because they have tried to combine two contradictory values and principles of the labor market system and the social welfare system in one policy. The analysis of the collisions between social welfare and market labor in the self-sufficiency program suggests that not only institutional reforms, but also profound debates on the values and principles underlying welfare-to-work programs are necessary to solve the phenomenal conflicts and problems with such programs.

  • This study seeks to find ways to make desirable decisions in the face of ethical dilemmas experienced by social workers through research on ethical dilemmas in the social welfare administrative field. Recognizing the importance of ethical issues in the social welfare profession, we have established a social welfare code of ethics, and have opened 'Social Welfare Ethics and Philosophy' in the social welfare major curriculum to address ethical issues as a major issue. However, despite changes and desires in practice and education, the theoretical and practical interest in social welfare academia was very insufficient. Among the various ethical issues in social welfare practice, it can be said that ethical decision-making is the most burdensome for social workers. Therefore, in order to perform a role as an expert in social welfare practice, there is a need to increase awareness of the importance of ethical issues and to seek ethical methods and procedures to make the right decision by considering ethical dilemma situations. In this study, through research on various ethical dilemmas occurring in social welfare practice, it will be possible to understand ethical sensitivity in the supervision process and consider ways to train supervision experts.

Effects of social distance and mood on moral judgment - focusing on moral dilemmas (사회적 거리와 정서가 도덕 판단에 미치는 영향)

  • Morality is one of the references when people judge the world. In two studies we addressed the impact of social distance and mood on moral judgment. Participants judged the people who kill one person to save the many by moral and action appropriateness. In study 1 Social distance was induced in best friends and strangers condition. We hypothesized that judgments rely on deontology depends on social distance. Study 1 showed that same actions in moral dilemmas are judged more severely when the people are more socially distant(strangers). But this effect of social distant was found only judgment of moral appropriateness. Study 2 examined how mood can affect moral judgment. There have been many work investigated the role of mood in determining the kind of cognitive processing. Results from study 2 showed participants in positive mood condition are judged more severely. This difference between positive and negative mood was found only judgment of action appropriateness in contrast with study 1. These results suggested that moral judgment can be affected by social distance and mood. We also found that these factors have selected impact on moral and action appropriateness.

  • Probability of technology risk is expected to increase as the post catch-up innovation, characterized by high uncertainty and high risk, would dominate in the coming era of post catchup. Social controversy on online game as a post catch-up innovation is still ongoing, though the shutdown law was enacted by the government. Socio-technical vulnerability causing technology risk paradoxically arose from the world top-level ICT infrastructures and has been reinforced by developmentalism. While both the pros and cons of the regulation fail to recognize dilemma objectively, social cost is brought about and accumulated. With recognizing dilemma between technology innovation and risks, we can tackle technology risks and ensure responsible innovation in post catch-up era.

The Challenges of AI Ethics and Human Identity Reproduced by Global Content: Focusing on Narrative Analysis of Netflix Documentary (글로벌 콘텐츠가 재현하는 AI 윤리와 인간 정체성의 과제: 넷플릭스 다큐 <소셜딜레마>의 서사 분석을 중심으로)

  • This study was conducted to diagnose the issues of AI ethics in global content and to discuss what kind of discourse is needed to strengthen human identity. To this end, the study selected Netflix original content "The Social Dilemma" for analysis and adopted narrative analysis as the research method. The analysis results confirmed that "Social Dilemma" showed the structure of a traditional current affairs documentary and mainly used experts and statistical data to develop the story. It also reinforced core content claims by enumerating domestic and foreign cases such as the 2021 Myanmar massacre and the spread of fake news. In addition, the relationship between the characters clearly revealed the binary opposition between developers and media companies as well as users and advertisers. For the solution to the problem, strong regulations on businesses and the suspension of social media use were reached. However, "The Social Dilemma" merely pointed out the misuse of AI technology and had a narrative that ignored human identity and social relationships. Such results raise the need for creating contents that emphasize the importance of human sociality, relationships, and learning ability in the age of AI.

  • The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the unethical information sharing by information asymmetry. I will confirm the effect of ethical dilemma, unethical intention and behavior by the information asymmetry. A research method used the structural equations. The analysis showed causal relationship that ethical dilemma and unethical intention and behaviors by the information sharing. In particular, The ethical dilemma by position level showed different from the factor between dilemma and intention. As a result, the organization should manage differently ethical issue according to position level. The contribution in this study has expended an interpretation scope of broken windows theory from social science and explained a discriminative management of the ethical dilemma by position level from the practical view. A Future study should investigate an unethical behavior reduce by information security systems.

  • 본 논문에서는 경제학, 사회학, 수학 분야에서 수십년 전부터 연구해오던 죄수의 딜레마 게임의 협동진화에 대해 고찰해보고자 한다. 반복적 죄수의 딜레마 게임은 게임이론의 가장 기본적인 이론으로써, 사회적 상호작용, 경제활동, 국제관계 등 다양한 현상들을 모델링 하기 위한 하나의 방법이다. 그 중에 N명이 참가하는 반복적 죄수 딜레마 게임의 전략은 유전 알고리즘(Genetic Algorithms, GAs)을 통해 진화적으로 만들어 낼 수 있으며, 이 경우에 그 결과를 일반적인 내쉬 균형 이 아닌, 모든 개체들이 유전알고리즘을 통해 협동으로 수렴하도록 유도할 수 있다는 사실은 상당히 시사하는 바가 크다. 기존에 주로 연구되어오던 죄수의 딜레마 게임은 협동으로의 수렴과정에서 일반적으로 순위기반선택(Rank-based selection)과 1점 교배기법(1point crossover)을 사용한다. 그러나 순위기반선택은 모든 개체에 순위을 매겨야 하기 때문에, 개체수가 커질수록 성능이 저하되며, 1점 교배기법은 개체 값이 분산되어있을 경우, 최적해(Optimal solution)을 찾기 힘들다는 단점이 있어, 개체수가 많은 경우에 적용하기에는 비효율적이다. 본 논문에서는 토너먼트 선택기법(Tournament selection)과 자기 적응형 교배기법(Self-adaptive crossover)을 적용한 새로운 기법을 제안한다. 또한 기존 기법과 비교 실험을 통해 제안기법이 기존기법에 비해 평균 수렴시간과 수렴 횟수에서 뛰어난 성능을 보이고 있음을 확인하였다.

The Relationships between Social Knowledge about Hypothetical Social Dilemmas and Interpersonal Problem Solving Strategies of 4- and 5-year-olds (가상적 딜레마 상황에 대한 만 4세 및 5세 유아의 사회적 지식과 대인간 문제해결 전략의 관계)

  • This study investigated 4- and 5-year-olds' social knowledge and interpersonal problem solving strategies according to their sex, age, and hypothetical situation, and the relationships among them. Subjects were 116 preschoolers (73 boys and 43 girls; 68 four and 48 five-year-olds). Results showed that preschoolers had the higher scores of freindliness in potential entry situations than in support situations. Also, 4-year-old children were higher in forceful problem solving strategies than 5-year-olds. Furthermore, children's social knowledge assertiveness scores were positively related to their relevant problem solving strategies in conflict situations, while children's social knowledge friendliness scores were negatively related to their forceful problem solving strategies in conflict and potential entry situations.
