  • This paper studies changes in people's social security awareness during Lee Myung-Bak government, and based on the result, suggests future Park Geun-Hye government's social-security-related administration management plan. In specific, the changes in people's social security awareness in the period of 2008 ~ 2012 have been analyzed, and the result has been utilized to draw suggestions on the future social-security-related administration management plan The result is as the following: First, comprehensive social-security-related policy must be continuously pushed. In terms of the fact that social security is closely related to people's daily lives and life itself, every major component of social security cannot be overlooked. Therefore, comprehensive administration management and policies on each of those components are necessary. Second, social security policies must be reinforced enough for people to actually witness. In case of crime rate, 57.1% of people are pointing it as one of the main causes of social unrest; therefore, this national anxiety must be met with focusing awareness on the subject nation-widely and with thorough national defense preparedness. Third, mutual cooperation between social-security-related branches, and systematic management within the each branches are required. In order to systematically manage every aspect of social security, not only the big agencies - such as Ministry of Security and Public Administration, Ministry of National Defense, Prosecution Service, or National Police Agency -, but most of other parts of administration must cooperate as well. Fourth, consistency in social security policies is necessary. As Park Geun-Hye government's administrative slogans are, "secure and integrated society," "establishing a foundation for happy unification era," which are similar to that of previous administration, the administration should be consistent on its social-security-related politics, rather than differentiating themselves from the previous administration.

  • This study aims to fathom the relationship between socio-economic security and social cohesion which are two sub-domains of Social Quality, on the institutional context of welfare state. In order to grasp the institutional context of welfare state, the study adopted welfare status theory and measured socio-economic resources of individuals via the status as welfare beneficiary and welfare taxpayer. The study postulates a theoretical model that the socio-economic security domain affects the social cohesion domain. In order to verity the theoretical hypothesis, this study utilized structural equations analysis(SEM) using social survey data conducted in year 2008. Recognition of social trust was included as the core index of social cohesion, and welfare statuses, socio-economic security and social trust were inserted in the sequence. Results revealed that the amount of resource in regards to welfare status of rights had significant influence on the socio-economic security, whereas it had no significant relations in regards to welfare status of duties. The recognition of socio-economic security derived from status of welfare rights and duties were positively associated with recognition of social trust. Also, the recognition of socio-eocnomic security turned out to have significant influence on social trust. Conclusively, among the two sub-domains of Social Quality, the study found that the socio-economic domain has influence on social cohesion domain. Such results suggest that in order to enhance the overall social cohesion in Korea, more delicate arrangement of welfare institutions are required.

  • This study was conducted to lay the foundation for creating a society safe from radiation by investigating the establishment of a radiation social safety net and the establishment of safety awareness and safety culture among citizens living in Busan. Data was collected through an online survey, and 200 copies of the survey were analyzed. Data were analyzed using SPSS Window Ver 28.0. To verify differences between groups, t-test and one way ANOVA were performed, and correlation analysis was performed to confirm the relationship between variables. In addition, multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to confirm the influence between variables. As a result, first, in terms of building a social safety net, citizens' safety awareness, and establishing a safety culture, the scores of the group with male gender, age in 20s, and high school graduation were found to be high. Among them, there was a statistical difference in gender at the significance level of .01 for building a social safety network and at the significance level of .05 for establishing a safety culture. In terms of occupation, there was a statistical difference between professionals and service workers at the significance level of .05 regarding the building of a radiation social safety network. Second, as a result of multiple regression analysis, it was found that 'local government radiation safety education', a subordinate factor in building a radiation social safety network, had a positive effect on citizens' safety awareness and establishment of a safety culture. Third, the results of the correlation analysis between the building of a social safety network, citizens' safety awareness, and establishment of a safety culture showed a positive correlation. Therefore, it is believed that a good radiation social safety network will have a positive impact on citizens' safety awareness and the establishment of a safety culture.

This paper examines Korean adolescents' experience of the type of accidents they were involved in, what they perceived to be the cause of the accident, the type of social support received after the accident, and the prevention needed to avoid future accidents. The indigenous understanding of accidents is examined according to the grade level of the students, gender, and safety efficacy beliefs. Second, to examine the changes in the safety efficacy beliefs, the differences across primary, junior high, and senior high school students are examined. Third, the relationship between safety efficacy belief and attitudes toward preventing future accidents is explored. Third, the parental influence on adolescents' safety efficacy belief is examined by analyzing the influence of their socio-economic status and their safety efficacy belief on their children's safety efficacy belief and behavior. The review of the results can be summarized into the following five main points: (1) decrease in safety efficacy belief with increasing age, (2) positive relationship between safety efficacy belief and behavior, (3) the utility of the indigenous psychologies approach, (4) the parental influence on their children's safety efficacy beliefs and behavior, and (5) the need to further explore, promote, and educate the importance of human life and quality of life by preventing accidents and promoting safety consciousness and behavior in Korea.
