조경기술사회는 1989년 9월 25일 조경기술사들이 모여 분회를 구성하여 조경기술사의 지위향상과 권익보호에 힘쓰고 있다. 조경기술사의 신기술 및 기술보급을 통하여 국토환경의 보전, 공원녹지, 공지확충계획, 신도시의 개발과 기존도시의 정비 등에 경관계획, 조성 및 관리에 적극적으로 노력하고 있는 한국기술사회 조경기술 사회를 탐방하여 김기성 회장을 만나보았다.

바람직한 인간형에 대한 변화는 사회변화를 나타낸다고 볼 때 80년대를 전후한 사회적성격의 변화는 농경사회에서 굴뚝사회라고 하는 공업사회로 바뀌었고 그 이후는 지식기술사회ㆍ정보화사회로 변화되었다고 볼 수 있다. 농경사회 굴뚝사회에서는 절약하고 황소처럼 일하는 사람이 바람직한 인간형이었다면 지식기술사회ㆍ정밀화사회에서는 절약보다는 창의력과 새로운 아이디어 개발로 승부를 거는 사람이어야 성공의 가능성이 높게 평가된다.

This study examines the approach of socio-technical systems and strategic niche management. It reviews the characteristics of that approach such as multi-level perspectives, the views on technology, and policy orientation. It applies the approach to the long-term vision making in science and technological innovation, socio-technical planning, participatory R&D, and science communication in Innovation policy areas and suggests some policy implications.

This article deals with the characteristics of science, technology and society studies for societal challenges and policies to encourage that studies. It reviews several cases of science, technology and society studies. Transition management, community-based research, technology assessment and social acceptance of new technology are discussed. And it is argued that ' research' as a conceptual framework for analyzing the that studies. A couple of policy agendas enhancing that studies are suggested.

Meeting and solving persistent societal problems and challenges through science, technology, and innovation is now an emerging policy agenda in Korea. This socially-oriented innovation needs integrated approach on technological and social innovation. This study aims to suggest the necessity of new process named 'socio-technical planning' and propose its characteristics and implications. It deals with some cases of socio-technical planning activity and classifies their characteristics and types. And then, this study suggests the direction of socio-technical planning development.

The technological risk has two major aspects. The one is technological aspect of the risk which consists of rules of nature and rational behaviors of humans. The other is social aspect of risk which consists of human values and nonrational and emotional behaviors of humans. So the technological risks should be called and treated as the technological and social risks. Because of these, not only technological professionals but also public people should have the chance to participate in the management of technological risks.

한국기술사회와 일본기술사회가 자매결연을 맺은지 30여 년이 지나고 있다. 그 동안 상호간의 정보교환으로 도움을 받고 또 주고 있는 가운데 격년별로 양국간을 왕래하면서 개최되는 한일 Symposium은 해를 거듭할수록 좋은 결실을 맺고 있다. 따라서 한국기술사회가 主管하고 있는 FEISEAP 관계를 일본에서는 어떻게 대처하고 있으며 일본기술사회에서 주관하고 있는 APEC HRD 관계는 어떻게 하고 있는지, 상호협조에 대한 협의사항과 일본기술사회의 기술사 자격시험운영실태 등에 대하여 간추려보고자 한다.

21세기에는 모든 인간활동과 경제,사회 발전이 '지식'을 바탕으로 이루어지게 된다. 이러한 지식의 바탕은 대체로 IT, BT, NT, ET, MT등 T자로 끝나는 과학기술이 될 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 우리나라 이공계열의 인기가 급격히 떨어져 우려되고 있다. 우리 사회가 지식기반사회로 진입하는데는 과학기술과 지식을 실질적으로 인정하고 우대하는 사회체제를 구축하는 것이 시급하다.

Usually social control and acceptance of science and technology is thought to be a separate or even confronting thing. But this paper aims to go beyond this simple and dichotomous thinking. Rather, this paper argues that social control and acceptance of science and technology can be combined altogether organically. In other words, this paper argues that social control of a particular science and technology has functional effects to the acceptance of that science and technology. Social control of a particular science and technology is a signal that something is going wrong; it reallocates attention and enhances social awareness; it evaluates ongoing activity; and it alters this activity in various ways to secure a sustainable future. In order to prove this functional hypothesis, this paper tries a case study of biotechnology from a perspective of sociology of science and technology. Especially social controversies around genetically modified organisms(GMOs) and embryo cloning in Korea are analysed deeply. As a conclusion, this paper proposes some policy implications of this study.
