This paper analyzes the under-researched field of the characteristics of th Chosun private railway, such as laws, systems, human resources, and subsidies associated with this railway, in an effort to increase our understanding of these characteristics. It was found that the private railway shared strong identity resemblance with a national project, as it served to assist the roles of the main national railway. General patterns of change of the company indicate that the private railway received increased subsidies consequent to the amendment of a related law and that it was strongly influenced by Japan's railway policies. The private railway system during the Chosun period more subsidies than those administered by Japan, and they tended to depend on fund raising for external capital. A tendency of many board members to be from the Chosun bureau was also noted. Profits in the private railway system were relatively low compared to those of the national railway such that the deficits were supplemented by the subsidies redeived. Based on corroborating examples, the private railway system can be said to have been an organization that had strong connections with national projects. It was especially related to regional industries according to an examination of the distribution of lines, which shows that most assisted the main railway or coincided with regions undergoing industrial development. Typically, northern areas were for resource development while southern areas were for agricultural production and/or passenger transportation. The company carried dual traits as it operated as a subsidiary enterprise for peripheral profit while also playing a role in transportation.
In order to select more proper plants for phytoextraction at the heavy metal polluted areas, 11 species of non-edible plants were cultivated at the cadmium(Cd) and Lead(Pb) treated soils and analyzed the content of the absorbed Cd and Pb in each part of plants. Plants include three fibers(Linum usitatissimum, Cannabis sativa, Gossypium spp.), three flowers(Calendula officinalis, Rhododendron lateritium, Portulaca grandiflora), and five trees(Pinus thunbergii, Magnolia kobus, $Populus\;nigra\;{\times}\;P.$ maximowiczii, Euonymus japonica, Fraxinus rhynchophylla). Yield of tree species were higher than that of fiber and flower species. Cd and Pb were highly accumulated in root rather than leaves and stems. The Cd content of plants was in the order Portulaca grandiflora > Calendula officinalis > Gossypium spp. > Linum usitatissimum, Pb was Cannabis sativa > Linum usitatissimum > Fraxinus rhynchophylla. Total absorbed Cd by each plant was in the order $Populus\;nigra\;{\times}\;P.$ maximowiczii > Euonymus japonica > Rhododendron lateritium, but Pb was $Populus\;nigra\;{\times}\;P.$ maximowiczii > Rhododendron lateritium > Euonymus japonica. Total absorbed Cd and Pb contents in plants were negatively correlated with the residual Cd and Pb in the treated soils. It was estimated that $Populus\;nigra\;{\times}\;P.$ maximowiczii, Euonymus japonica, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, and Rhododendron lateritium were the most effective species for phytoextraction in the polluted area considering yield and heavy metal uptake.
This study was carried out to examine seed characteristics of Artemisia capillaris and the effects of different temperature and light on its seed germination, and of sowing date on its growth and yield. A seed of A. capillaris, 0.79 mm in length diameter, 0.39 mm in width diameter and 0.054 g in thousand-kernel weight, was extremely small, vertical pinstripes in the surface of seed, and long oval of dark brown in shape, and its maturity occurred September to October. A germination rate was superior at light conditions and 20 to $25^{\circ}C$ in temperature. Although its germination became shorter as the higher temperature. Its emergence rate was the highest in sowing at March 30. But the growth and yield potential was the best when sowed at March 20. The earlier the sowing date, the higher yield.
The transfer of isolated nuclei from Agrocybe aegerita mycelia of wild type into Pleurotus florida protoplasts of auxotroph was induced with polyethylene glycol. The type 1 of nuclear transfer products was spontaneous segregants of both parental morphology of colony. Hyphae of A. aegerita type had clamp connections while that of P. florida type lacked. Type 2 was main products of nuclear transfer which formed true clamp connections. Type 3 was clampless products. They all produced primordia and developed basidiocarps similar to Agrocybe aegerita. A comparison of nuclei transfer products was made using isozyme analyses of alcohol dehydrogenase, esterase, lactate dehydrogenase and peroxidase. Isozyme band patterns of some type 2 strains produced a new band. Band patterns from mycelial extracts of the other strains could be characterized by parental bands.
Securing sufficient planting strip for street shrubs has a limitation. So many different shrubs which have been planted in the streets looks consider its visual aspect rather than growth characteristics. In this study, we compared with the growth condition of planted shrubs and construction condition of its planting strip. $Photinia$$glabra$, $Euonymus$$japonicus$, $Camelia$$sasanqua$, $Nandina$$domestica$, $Abelia$$grandiflora$ were selected in the Busan City, Korea. The planting strips width were 0.5~0.9m which is not relatively different by each species. Species which have narrow growth character of root hair in the natural bed ($Nandina$$domestica$, $Abelia$$grandiflora$) have a good growth condition in the street planting strip, oppositely shrubs which have wide growth character of root hair ($Photinia$$glabra$, $Euonymus$$japonicus$, $Camelia$$sasanqua$) have a relatively bad growth condition. Hereupon, there have a necessity which should be select the different shrub species for the planting strip of the street.
Negatively stained dip preparations from Euonymus showing vein clear symptoms revealed bacilliform particles. The particles tentatively referred to as the Euonymus vein clear virus(EVCV) have a relatively complex structure, measuring 230-280nm in length and 70-80nm in diameter. They have an envelope, 8-10nm thick, provided with evenly spaced beadlike projection about 5-6nm long. The inner tubular core which had no envelope showed helical structures, 200-220nm long, and 50-55nm in diameter. This inner tubular core is interpreted as the virus nucleocapsid. A striking association of virus particles with the nuclei of infected cells was apparent from sections which showed numberous virus particles at the nuclear periphery and in what appeared to be intranuclear virus particle inclusions. Careful examination of these apparent inclusions revealed the presence of the nuclear envelope surrounding them, in addition to cytoplasmic organelles within them. Such profiles were interpreted as having arisen when the sections passed through invaginations of the cytoplasm into the nucleus. In all the sections showing virus particles associated with the nucleus, large number of virus particles were found to be present in expanded areas between the two lamellae of the nuclear envelope. This location is suggested as a possible site of virus assembly. Serveal micrographs of particles found in this location suggested incorporation of the inner lamella of the nuclear envelope into the viral envelope. Various micrographs indicated a possible helical arrangement of certain components present in the virus core.
This study focused on iron making related information through analyzing slags and furnace wall collected from iron production site of Suryong-ri Wonmorongi, Chungju. Total Fe content of slags were from 36.98% to 44.47% and this range was general recovery rate of iron in ancient. Compounds of calcium included slags was supposed to add intentionally during smelting process as deoxidation agent in order that these helped to separate iron from impurities. Furnace wall didn't make of high alumina clay because of low $Al_2O_3$. Microstructure and main components of slags show that No. 1 to 3 slags with fayalite and wustite were products of iron ore smelting. However, No.4 slag is more likely to smelt by iron sand because of ulvospinel with $TiO_2$ in No. 4 slag. Therefore, iron ore were not only used but iron sand in smelting and furnace wall made of general clay with low $Al_2O_3$ content in this area.

Interspecific heterokaryons were obtained by polyethylene glycol induced fusion of protoplasts from auxotrophic mutants of P. ostreatus+P. cornucopiae, P. ostreatus+P. florida, P. ostreatus+P. sajor-caju, P. florida+P. cornucopiae, P. florida+P. sajor-caju and P. sajor-caju+P. cornucopiae protoplasts. The Fusion products of protoplasts were induced by MCM+benomyl, but segregation of sectors were not identified. Interspecific fusion products of protoplasts between incompatible strains did not form true clamp connections and did not produce fruit bodies. For induction of fertility, interspecific heterokaryons crossed with their parents by hyphal anastomosis.
