Characteristics of Vegetation Structure and Bird Community in the Urban Park of Gwangju City (광주시 도시공원의 식생구조 및 야생조류군집 특성에 관한 연구)

  • To suggest basic research data for a plan raising naturalness of urban park forest, the structure of forest vegetation and bird community were analyzed in four urban parks of Gwangju city. And also, their relationships were discussed. Some of the structural characteristics in the two communities were closely related to each other. Species and individual densities of birds were relatively high in Songjong and Sangmu park showing the vigorous successional progress, but were low in Anchong park with simple vegetation. The bird group that nest and feed in canopy or dead wood held occupy the highest percent in Sajik park with well developed upper layer of forest, the bird group that nest and feed in shrub did in Sangmu park with developed middle layer, and the bird group that feed in ground did in Songjong park with developed low layer. Relationship between the species diversities of forest and birds was not significant. Nevertheless, bird diversity was relatively high in Sajik and Sangmu park with the high proportion of broad-leaved trees in upper and middle layers.

Analysis of the Impact of Residents Participation Activities on Continued Motivation in an Urban Regeneration Project: Focused on Sajik-dong, Cheongju-si (도시재생사업에서 주민참여활동이 지속적 참여 동기에 미치는 영향 분석: 청주시 사직2동을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to analyze the effects of residents participation activities on continued motivation in an urban regeneration project. For the analysis, this study was conducted the survey residents who participated in Cheongju-si urban regeneration project. Based on the survey, this study examined residents' awareness and analyzed the resident participation activities that affect the participation motivation(reward, sense of achievement, sense of expectation)through hierarchical regression analysis. The first of the results, the rewards obtained through participation activities is not affected by all resident participation activities. Second, sense of achievement obtained through participation activities such as pride or satisfaction is affected by both promotion and management of project and daily meeting activities. Finally, sense of expectation for the change of the town is only affected by daily meeting activities. These results help to find out required resident participation activities to give participation motivation inducing the continued participation in the urban regeneration project.

A Study on Decomposition of PET Microfiber Fabrics by Sodium Propyleneglycolate/propyleneglycol (Sodium propyleneglycolate/propyleneglycol 용액에 의한 Pollrester극세사직물의 분해에 관한 연구)

  • Polyester microfiber fabrics were decomposed at 100, 110, 120 and 140 t of temperature and 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% of sodium propyleneglycolate/propyleneglycol solution(SPG-PG). Characteristic decomposition feature and physical and chemical properties of the decom- posed PET microfiber fabrics were discussed. The activation energy was 18.77 kcal/mol and the dyeability of the decomposed PET microfiber fabrics was found to be improved as it was supported by the examined K/S values. Up to the 20% of the weight loss of the PET microfiber fabrics, K/S values incresed with increasing the weight loss. The melting temperature of PET microfiber fabrics decomposed by SPG-PG showed no fundamental change. Tensile strength of the decomposed PET microfiber fabrics decreased linearly in accordance with the increased the weight loss of the PET microfiber fabrics. The moisture regain and the tactilities increased in accordance with the increased the weight loss of the PET microfiber fabrics.

Gender Difference in Job Mobility in Korean Labor Markets (한국노동시장의 남녀 직장이동 요인별 차이와 직장이동 유형별 임금 변화)

  • This study demonstrates the gender difference in the factors that affect job changes and the resulting wage changes in the recent Korean labor market. By using the KEAPS (2003-2007), we found that male workers uniquely tend to stay longer at their current jobs when they have families to support. After controlling self-selection bias, we also found that wage changes resulting from switching jobs differ between male and female workers during this studied period.

  • Altar architecture is a kind of sacrificial building, mainly formed in altar. Central architecture of Altar architecture is relatively simple. However, various attached building are necessary for worship. Among them, Sinsil which is a place to seal a God's tablet, is very important. The central government of the Joseon Dynasty attempted to define the local sacrificial system and make it customary as a way to strengthen the centralization based on Confucianism. Nonetheless, the altar architecture of the province without detailed regulations, were managed and underwent repairs according to the political situation of the state and local circumstances. Sinsil, which is an important component of the altar architecture, best reflects this situation. Therefore, it was possible to grasp the situation of the altar architecture of the province in the Joseon Dynasty by analyzing the Sinsil through various documents. As a result of analysis, it was divided into six types. In addition, It is also found that there are temporal relation between these six types.

Improvement of Printing Properties of PET Micro Filament Fabrics Using Low Temperature Plasma Technology(I) (저온 plasma 기술에 의한 PET 극세사직물의 날염성 개선(I))

  • In order to improve dyeability of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) micro filament fabrics, the effect of the prior oxygen low temperature plasma on the subsequent dyeing(deep dyeing, printing) was examined in various conditions. The apparent concentration of dyed PET micro filament fabrics was increased by $O_{2}$plasma treatment. Higher discharge power levels and higher reactor pressure values created more significant effect. The wettability was significantly increased by $O_{2}$ plasma treatment. Therefore, it is predicted that introducing hydrophilic group on the surface of material can improve the apparent concentration of PET micro filament fabrics.

Contamination of the Mushim-Cheon and its Countermeasures;I. Analysis of the Water Samples in Summer (무심천 수질 오염 실태와 그 방지책;I. 하계절의 수질 오염 분석)

  • In order to disclose the contamination of the Mushim-Cheon by pollutants in August and September of 1989 and to establish countermeasures, the collected water samples were analyzed to obtain the following results : 1. The water temperature of the period ranged from 25.8 to $30.8^{\circ}C$ acceptable for the growth of microorganisms and algae to allow the self-purification of the stream. 2. The pHs at the sites during the same period ranged from 6.5 to 8.5 which fall within the allowed values for the first grade water supplies except for site 14. 3. At site 18 which is the confluence of the sewer of the excretion disposal facilities and the main stream, the DO was observed to fall down to 0.7 ppm in September. 4. The BOD value reached a maximum of 62.1 ppm at site 18, which far exceeded the limit of 40 ppm, the allowed value for the discharges from the disposal facilities. In addition, the SS values were 200 and 520 ppm in August and September, respectively, which were three to seven times as high as the allowed limit of 70 ppm. 5. The high $NH_3-N$ value of 46.2 ppm at site 18 in September suggested that the water was heavily contaminated with excretions. 6. The BOD load of the sewage from site 12, the Sajik-Dong Sewer, in September was estimated to be about 0.306 ton/day. 7. The contamination of the influents, the family wastewater, and the discharges from the disposal facilities was greater than that of the main stream. 8. In the samples collected from site 12, the Sajik-Dong sewer at an interval of every two hours, a close correlation was observed between the pollutant load and the life cycle of the nearby inhabitants. 9. Compared with the results obtained from the water samples in 1979, it was observed that the water was heavily contaminated at site 12 (the Sajik-Dong Sewer, under the Chung Ju Great Bridge) and site 15 (Under the 2nd Uncheon Bridge) over the last 10 years, with little difference at site 9(Young Un-Dong water supply source).

Setting Development Priorities of Undeveloped Neighborhood Parks in the Downtown of Cheongju City using a Park Development Pressure Index (공원조성 압력지수를 이용한 공원개발 우선순위 선정 - 청주시 도심 미개발근린공원을 대상으로 -)

  • This study was intended to set development priorities for five undeveloped neighborhood parks scattered throughout the downtown area of Cheongju City using a PDPI(Park Development Pressure Index). In order to calculate the PDPI, this study employed an additive integration method. The PDPI was graded from 1 to 5, based on the evaluation scores in accordance with nine indicators selected through literature reviews and interviews with public officials. The indicators have been classified into three categories: physical environment, utilization possibility, and facility distribution. The indicators are as follows: 1) 'altitude and inclination' and 'NDVI' as physical environment indicators; 2) 'ratio of residential area', 'forecasted utility population', 'undeveloped period', 'redevelopment near parks', 'ratio of area divided by main streets', reflecting utilization possibility; and 3) 'Distance between Neighborhood Parks' and 'Distribution of alternative facilities' as facility distribution. The following results were found: 1) three neighborhood parks including 'Sagic 2', 'Sachen', and 'Dangsan' were ranked in the first grade of PDPI; and, 2) one neighborhood park 'Samsungdang' was ranked in the fifth grade of PDPI. The above results mean that among undeveloped neighborhood parks, three have been exposed to extremely strong park development pressure, and that while two neighborhood parks have had strong exposure to park development pressure due to potential users according to their close location to Sagic Ro, an east-west main axis of Cheongju City, one neighborhood park has had weak exposure to development pressure because of the close location to 'Chuungbuk National University' and a lack of residential areas, showing a low possibility for development.

Job Mobility and Short-run Wage Changes (직장이동의 유형에 따른 단기임금변화)

  • We construct a unique panel data by using Korean Economically Active Population Survey (KEAPS) from 2003 to 2007 to estimate the returns to different types of job mobility among men. By adopting Mincer(1986)'s method, we estimate the wage change to job mobility after controlling the sample selection bias. There are four different types of job mobility that are concerned in the study: (1) voluntary job-to-job changes without experiencing unemployment, (2) voluntary job changes with experiencing unemployment, (3) involuntary job changes due to layoffs, and (4) involuntary job changes due to discharges. Our findings indicate that Korean men who changed jobs without experiencing unemployment realized wage gains of 7% while those who changed jobs through unemployment period lost 10% of their wages. Among those who changed jobs involuntarily and went through unemployment, the workers who discharged from the previous jobs realized substantially greater wage loss.
