A Study on the Development of Flowable Fill Materials for H-pile (가시설 H-pile의 유동화 채움재 개발)

  • Nowadays, H-piles are usually used as temporary retaining walls, and sometimes buried in the ground after construction. The purpose of this study is the development of flowable fill materials that are easy to fill holes of retaining wall structure and minimize friction during pulling out H-pile. The first test was performed to decide mix proportion that is reasonable for purpose, in the second test, direct shear test was performed to get pullout resistance between flowable fills material and H-pile, and one dimensional consolidation test was performed to analyze the compressibility. In the test result, it showed that flowable fill material mix proportion is 350-450% of water, 70-100% of cement and 70-100% of sand based on the bentonite weight.

  • One of the main objectives of the study is to propose a practical but realistic limit state model considering combined effect of axial and bending load for reliability analysis and safety assessment of cable-stayed bridge under vehicle traffic loads. This paper is intended to propose a new approach for the evaluation of reserved load carrying capacity of cable-stayed bridge under vehicle traffic loads in terms of equivalent strength, which may be defined as a bridge strength corresponding to the reliability index of the bridge. This can be derived from an inverse process based on the concept of FOSM form of reliability index. AFOSM and IST methods are used for the reliability analysis of the proposed models. The proposed reliability model and methods are applied to the safety assessment of Jindo Bridge which is one of major two cable-stayed bridges in Korea.

  • A practical approach for the assessment of system reliability-based safety and load carring capacity under vehicle traffics is proposed for the realistic evaluation of safety and rating of cable-stayed bridges. A partial event tree analysis model incorporating major critical failure paths is suggested as a practical tool for the system reliability analysis and system reliability-based capacity rating. The proposed approach for the system reliability analysis and system reliability-based rating is applied to the safety assessment of the Jindo Bridge which is one of two existing cable-stayed bridges in Korea. The results of analyses at the system level based on the system reliability are compared with those at the element level.

  • It is necessary to estimate the dynamic characteristics of stay cables ie., the natural frequencies and the damping ratios of the stay cables to design cable damper for appropriate mitigation of cable vibrations and/or to estimate the tension of cables in service. In this study, a cable exciting robot for evaluating dynamic characteristics of stay cables has been developed, and the feasibility of the developed system has been demonstrated through a field test on the stay cable installed at the test yard of Highway and Transportation Technology Institute (HTTI). The dynamic characteristics of the stay cable were estimated based on acceleration data as well as displacement measured by digital image processing technique.

  • 수도권의 과밀화 해소와 국가균형발전을 위해 출범한 세종시 행정중심복합도시. 이곳은 지난해 말에 청사 2단계 입주가 이루어지면서 본격적으로 행정기능 중심 도시로 재탄생했다. 이에 따라 세종시에는 현재 도시기반 확충을 위한 인프라가 한창 구축되고 있다. 이 가운데 행정중심복합도시 내부를 순환하는 도로를 연결하는 금강 4교 건설공사 현장은 많은 이들의 이목을 끌고 있다. 국내에서 최초로 개방형의 사장교가 시공되고 있는 것은 물론 주탑이 세종시의 상징인 매를 형성화하는 등 그야말로 명품도시의 랜드마크로 여겨지고 있기 때문이다. 때문에 이곳을 시공하고 있는 SK건설에서는 철두철미한 안전관리를 전기하고 있다. 그 결과는 안전분야 최고의 권위를 자랑하는 '안전경영대상'에서 토목부문 대상을 수상하는 것으로 나타났다. 이곳의 안전관리가 어떻게 펼쳐지고 있는지 찾아가 봤다.

  • 영상처리분야의 연구개발은 특정 분야에 특화된 알고리즘을 이용하고, 이러한 특수성으로 인해 유사한 기능을 반복적으로 구현하는 문제점을 안고 있다. 특히 연구개발결과물의 공유환경이 마련되어있지 않아 이러한 문제점을 더욱 가중시켜 연구개발비용의 증가를 유발하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 영상처리용 통합개발환경과 연계된 P2P기반의 공유체계를 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 많은 비용을 들여 연구개발한 영상처리 알고리즘이 사장되는 위험을 감소시키고 재활용 가능성을 높일 것으로 기대한다.

Petrological Classification and Provenance Interpretation of the Sungnyemun Stone Block Foundation, Korea PDF icon (숭례문 육축 구성석재의 암석학적 분류와 원산지 해석)

  • This study focused on distribution ratio of stone properties based on material characteristic analysis, provenance presumption and transportation route interpretation of the Sungnyemun stone block foundation. The stone block foundation is composed of pinkish granite (56.0%), reddish granite (4.5%) and leucocratic granite (26.2%) of original stones and pinkish granite of new stones(13.3%). The rock-forming minerals for granites are consisted mainly of quartz, alkali-feldspar, plagioclase and biotite, and are similar geochemical evolution trend of major, rare earth, compatible and incompatible elements. Therefore, it is clear that the rocks are genetically same origin. As a result of magnetic susceptibility measurement, the pinkish and reddish granite of original stones and pinkish granite of new stones showed normal distribution around about 4.00(${\times}10^{-3}SI\;unit$). But the leucocratic granite of original stones were confirmed ilmenite series under about 1.00(${\times}10^{-3}SI\;unit$). As a result of provenance interpretation and transportation route analysis based on the petrological results, the provenance of pinkish granite and reddish granite of original stones are presumed the north slope in Namsan mountain and Naksan mountain. Also, the leucocratic granite of original stones and the pinkish granite of new stones are strongly possible furnished from the south and north slope in Namsan mountain and Naksan mountain, respectively.

Application of Vision-based Measurement System for Estimation of Dynamic Characteristics on Hanger Cables (행어케이블의 동특성 추정을 위한 영상계측시스템 적용)

  • Along with the development of coasts, islands and mountains, the demand of long-span bridges increases which, in turn, brings forth the construction of cable-supported bridges like suspension and cable-stayed bridges. There are various types of statically indeterminate structures widely applied that supported the main girder with stay cables, main cables, hanger cables with aesthetic structural appearance. As to the cable-supported bridges, the health monitoring of a bridge can be identified by measuring tension force on cable repeatedly. The tension force on cable is measured either by direct measurement of stress of cable using load cell or hydraulic jack, or by vibration method estimating tension force using cable shape and measured dynamic characteristics. In this study, a method to estimate dynamic characteristics of hanger cables by using a digital image processing is suggested. Digital images are acquired by a portable digital camcorder, which is the sensor to remotely measure dynamic responses considering convenient and economical aspects for use. A digital image correlation(DIC) technique is applied for digital image processing, and an image transform function(ITF) to correct the geometric distortion induced from the deformed images is used to estimate subpixel. And, the correction of motion of vision-based measurement system using a fixed object in an image without installing additional sensor can be enhanced the resolution of dynamic responses and modal frequencies of hanger cables.

Petrological Study on the Volcanic Rocks in Namoo and Namhyeongje Island, Off the Southern Coast of Busan City, Korea (부산광역시 남부 나무섬과 남형제섬 화산암의 암석학적 연구)

  • This study reports the results about the petrography of volcanic rocks in Namoo island and Namhyeongje island, off the southern coast of Busan City. The rocks in the Namhyeongje island composed of dacitic crystal-vitric welded tuff, showing phenocrysts of plagioclase, rock fragment with flow structure of elongated and flattened pumice fragments. In thin section it shows pyroclastic texture. The volcanic rocks in Namoo island are mainly dark grey-bluish dacite with phenocrysts of plagioclase and gradually changed to pink-greyish rhyodacite with auto-brecciated. In the northeastern part of the island, the volcanic rocks occurred as aggromerate with a poorly sorted mixture of blocks, lappili and ash and felsic feeder dike intrude the aggromerate. Major element composition of the volcanic rocks in Namhyeongje island and Namoo island are $SiO_2$ 73.6~74.4 wt.% and 65.5~68.3 wt.%, respectively. The volcanic rocks in these island are felsic volcanic rocks.

Closing Analysis of Symmetric Steel Cable-stayed Bridges and Estimation of Construction Error (대칭형 강 사장교의 폐합해석과 시공오차의 예측)

  • This paper presents the closing analysis of a symmetric steel cable-stayed bridge erected by a free cantilever method. Two independent structural systems are formed before the closing procedure of a bridge is performed, and thus the compatibility conditions for vertical displacement and rotational angle are not satisfied at the closing section without the application of proper sectional forces. Since, however, it is usually impossible to apply sectional forces at the closing section, the compatibility conditions should be satisfied by proper external forces that can be actually applicable to a bridge. Unstrained lengths of selected cables and the pull-up force of a derrick crane are adjusted to satisfy nonlinear compatibility conditions, which are solved iteratively by the Newton-Raphson method. Cable members are modeled by the elastic catenary cable elements, and towers and main girders are discretized by linear 3-D frame elements. The sensitivities of displacement with respect to the unstrained lengths of selected cables and the pull-up force of the derrick crane are evaluated by the direct differentiation of the equilibrium equation. A Monte-Carlo simulation approach is proposed to estimate expected construction errors for a given confidence level. The proposed method is applied to the second Jindo Grand Bridge to demonstrate its validity and effectiveness.
