국내 물시장은 100%에 가까운 상·하수도 서비스 수준을 달성한 지 오래다. 결과적으로 국내 물시장은 한계에 이르렀다는 평가와 함께 국내 물산업의 지속가능한 발전을 위해서는 포화된 국내 시장을 벗어나 해외 신시장을 발굴해야 한다는 견해가 보편적이다.. 그리고 정부에서는 2006년 물산업 육성 전략을 수립하는 한편 국내 물기업의 해외시장 진출을 위해 다각적인 정책을 수립·추진하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 지역별·국가별 특성을 고려한 물시장 진출 전략의 필요성 관점에서 타겟시장으로 주목을 받고 있는 국가 사우디아라비아의 물시장 특성을 검토함으로써 국내 기업의 현지 진입 전략을 제시하였다. 사우디아라비아 정부는 '비전 2030'에 의거 시설 및 서비스 확대, 민간참여 등 물 부문의 성과목표를 제시하였으며, 물시장 규모는 2021년 기준 116억 $ 규모로 추정된다 추정된다(GWI, 2021). 현지 물시장 관련 SWOT 분석 결과는 인프라와 담수화 분야에 대한 지속적 투자 및 시장 개방화, 그리고 다수의 레퍼런스 보유 등이 기회이자 강점인 반면 오일머니 중심의 산업구조, 정부 중심의 투자, 높은 시장경쟁 등은 약점이자 위기로 분석되었다. 그리고 본 연구는 현지 물시장 진입 전략으로 첫째, 현지 정부 및 기업과의 협력 강화를 통한 정보취득, 둘째, 향후 성장 가능성이 높은 담수화 관련 에너지 효율 제고, 막힘현상(파울링) 등에 대한 혁신 기술 및 가격경쟁력 확보, 셋째, 프로젝트 수주, 소재·부품 등의 수출을 위한 현지화(지사, 사무소, 연구소 등 개설) 등을 제시하였다.

방콕의 "88년 아시아의 방산전시회는 규모는 축소되었지만 중요한 시장에서 의미있는 전시회였다. 태국은 자국방위의 결의에 차 있고, 1989년의 국방예산은 약 17억8천만불에 달한다.(한화 : 약 1조1천7백억원) 태국군은 지속적으로 현대화계획을 추진중이며, 비록 사우디아라비아 또는 말레이지아에 비하여 구매량은 보잘것 없지만, 1990년대에도 중요한 시장으로 남아있을 것이다

원유가격을 스파트시장의 제품 가격에 연동시키는 네트백방식은 비론 최근 그 중요성이 떨어지고 있으나 쉽사리 사라질 것 같지는 않다. 이러한 상황에서 최근 사우디의 야마니 석유상, 이라크의 셀만 국영석유 마케팅사장, 셀 인터내셜널 사장 로빈슨씨, 전Gulf의 국제무역 본부장 군멘씨들의 전문가들이 네트백 방식의 이해득실에 관한 대담을 가졌다. 다음은 대담내용을 요약, 정리한 것이다. <편집자주>

An index was developed for analyzing the promising countries for seawater desalination plant and related data sets were collected and analyzed. Each indicators was standardized by scale readjustment method and Delphi method was used to calculate the weights for indicators from questionnaire survey by experts in seawater desalination plant field. Twenty three indicators were selected and they were classified into three groups, economic, social, and environmental indicator groups. Eleven countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Qatar, China, Singapore, India, Algeria, Turkey, United States) were selected considering present data availability and index for each country was calculated. The results show United States and China took the first (0.537) and second (0.490) place for the most promising country for seawater desalination plant. However it will not be easy to play a significant role in the markets because of present seawater desalination technology level and national policy, etc. Saudi Arabia took the third (0.329) place and other countries which has more than 0.2 index value can be considered as a promising countries for seawater desalination plant. We can establish a strategy to export our seawater desalination technology and plant using the result of this study. The developed index can be applied to other countries, which were not included in this study, when their data is available.

For successful EHR implementation, it is important to understand physicians's acceptance and attitude for EHR. This study aims to provide basic information for the overseas expansion of Korean EHR by studying Saudi Arabia's physicians' acceptance for the Korean EHR exported to Saudi Arabia. Except for physician autonomy and physician-patient relationship, Likert scales of physician involvement, adequate training, ease of use, usefulness, and attitude about EHR usage were over 3.5 points, which are relatively high. The Physicians' experience of Korean EHR may have influenced the EHR acceptance score. Based on the positive research results of this study, we can say that Korean EHR can be competitive in the overseas EHR business.
