  • 본 논문에서는 마커기반 증강현실 기술을 활용한 역사 교육 콘테츠 구현을 목표로 한다. 증강현실은 가상현실의 한 분야로 현실세계에 가상의 물체를 중첩함으로써 사용자에게 몰입감과 현실감 있는 정보를 제공하여, 사용자들에게 새로운 학습 경험을 확장시킬 수 있는 교육매체로 높은 관심을 받고 있다. 이에 본 논문은 세종대왕 시대의 유물을 EON Mobile을 사용하여 마커기반 증강현실 교육콘텐츠를 개발하였다. AR 마커를 통해 사용자와 상호작용 할 수 있도록 하였으며, 현실감, 몰입감, 지적 융통성 및 인지적 통찰성 등의 다양한 교육적 효과를 성취할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • 본 논문은 증강현실 기술과 GPS 기능을 합친 여행 어플리케이션으로 사용자가 어플리케이션 내에 지정된 장소로 가서 화면을 비췄을 때 화면 내에서 관광지에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있고, 그 장소에 실제로 다녀간 사용자들이 남긴 다양한 주변 정보들 까지 한눈에 볼 수 있도록 개발하였다. 증강현실을 통해 여행정보와 현장에서 작성한 후기를 제공하고 여행지에서의 증강현실 퀘스트 수행에 따라 경험치와 훈장 등의 보상으로 RPG(Role-Playing Game)성장 방식의 몰입감과 재미요소를 제공함으로써 사용자가 실용적인 정보를 실시간 현장 화면과 함께 몰입할 수 있는 서비스를 제공한다.

  • 영상 스티칭은 다수의 영상을 넓은 시야각을 갖는 하나의 영상으로 합성하여 사용자들에게 몰입감과 현장감을 제공하는 기술이다. 그러나 영상에 시차(Parallax)가 존재하는 경우 스티칭된 영상에서 왜곡이 발생할 수 있는데 이는 사용자의 몰입을 방해할 수 있다. 따라서 스티칭 영상의 다양한 활용을 위해서는 시차로 인한 왜곡을 최소화하여 자연스러운 스티칭 영상을 만드는 것이 중요하다. 기존 호모그래피 추정 방법으로 발생할 수 있는 고스트 현상을 최소화하기 위해서 seam 기반 스티칭 방법이 사용되었지만, 단순히 작은 특징값을 따라 생성된 seam은 사물 영역 정보가 반영되지 않아 seam이 특징이 있는 부분을 지나가면서 시차 왜곡이 발생할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 딥러닝 기반의 MegaDepth를 활용한 depth 예측 정보를 에너지 함수 기반의 seam 생성 행렬의 가중치로 사용하여 seam이 사물을 피해 생성되면서 시차가 작은 영역으로 유도되도록 하는 seam optimization 기법을 제안한다.

A Study on Immersion and Presence of VR Karaoke Room Implementations in Mobile HMD Environments (HMD 모바일 환경에서 가상현실 기반 노래방 구현물의 실재감과 몰입감 연구)

  • There exist a variety of VR(Virtual Reality) contents that have been developed by the use of the latest VR technologies. Unlike the rapid advances in the recent VR devices however, the development of VR based game contents that fully utilize such cutting-edge devices has been lackluster. Using more accessible form of smartphone-based HMDs(Head-Mounted Displays), we compare two popular VR presentation methods(a realistic 3D VR karaoke room and a 360 degree video karaoke room) and analyze their users' immersion and realistic perception. We expect that our study can be utilized as a supporting guideline for future smartphone-based VR content developments.

Effects of Character Identification on User Experience and Perceived Risk in Smoking Simulation Game (흡연 시뮬레이션 게임에서 사용자와 동일한 캐릭터의 사용이 실재감, 몰입, 위험인식에 미치는 효과)

  • This study attempted to identify differences in user experience such as spatial presence, social presence, flow, empathy, anxiety, and perceived risk between simulating characters of animation and of actual userimage. The playtesting method was conducted on 60 male smokers using 'Smoking Sims', a simulation game produced by The Center for Health Communication Studies. The results found that the simulation of actual image character is higher in the level of perceived risks for smoking, spatial presence, social presence, flow, and empathy than the simulation of animation character. The study shows that identification with a game character affects user experience and enhances the effectiveness of perceived risks as well. It emphasizes the importance of game design to implement identification in serious game like a smoking cessation simulation.

  • The displays and the interactive interfaces are important factors to enhance immersion in the VR experience pavilion. In the VR experience pavilion displaying 3D Virtual environment, it is difficult to have multi-display with single viewpoint because of the field of view. Also it costs a lot to construct a large size display. The interaction device between user and VR environment necessary to immersion has used mainly the touchscreens with the restricted display area or the button-based input devices so far. In this paper, we suggest a method for constructing extensible multi-display which are showing VR environment in realtime and a method for interaction using a ZA Sensor which is wireless and guarantees the user's unrestricted movement. The proposed method can make a VR experience pavilion more immersive at less cost.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore determinants which affect the significant increase in the user acceptance of smart phone. This study also analyzes the effect of each variable on the actual acceptance by empirical methods. In this study, first, the system quality and the service quality are defined as independent variables based on developed IS success model of DeLone & McLean(2003). Second, we proposed the research model by providing trust and perceptual immersion as intermediate variables, and user satisfaction and actual use as dependent variables by the proceeding research for accepting information technology and new service. Third, the statistical analysis is conducted by surveying to 200 smart phone users for verifying a validity of research models and hypotheses. As a result, almost hypotheses are accepted in confidence interval except for the hypothesis between security and trust variable.

Analyses on Characteristics and Usage of Digital Game Viewpoint: Why do Games use Third-person Viewpoint more often than First-person Viewpoint? (디지털 게임 시점의 특징과 사용 이유 분석: 왜 게임들은 1인칭 시점보다 3인칭 시점을 더 많이 사용하는가?)

  • The viewpoint of a digital game is a prime factor that determines user immersion, and first-person viewpoint is known to produce greatest immersion. However, most games adopt third-person viewpoint rather than first-person viewpoint. This study analyzed the reason for the preference of third-person viewpoint. First, six viewpoints were defined by combining three viewpoints (first-, third-person, omniscient viewpoints) and two distances (proximal, distal) between camera and game character. Then 100 games which received high ratings during the past 10 years were sampled, and the frequencies of viewpoint choices and genres were analyzed. Overall, the results showed that games have strong preference for third-person viewpoint. However, preferred viewpoints differed depending on genres, for example, most shooting games used first-person, proximal viewpoint. This result could have arisen because both characteristics of a game and field of view have influenced choice of viewpoint. That is, many games adopt third-person viewpoint because developers consider not only user immersion but also scene visibility.

  • IT service is becoming a critical business operation in the age of information revolution. In providing IT services internally to other functions of the corporation and externally to other organizations, sharing of knowledge between business people and system people is known to become more and more critical for successful IT services. Purpose of this research is to examine the impact of IT service quality on knowledge sharing activities between IT service providers and users. Theoretical research model, through an extant literature review, is proposed here, consisting of IT service quality, relationship quality(satisfaction, trust and commitment), and the level of knowledge sharing activities. Survey results of 183 users indicates that IT service quality significantly influences commitment through satisfaction and trust, which in turn influences the level of knowledge sharing activities. Also, interestingly, satisfaction and trust do not directly influences the level of knowledge sharing,but indirectly, through commitment.

Research on the Visual Elements of VR game (VR 게임 <엘더 스크롤 V : 스카이 림 VR>의 시각 요소 연구)

  • In recent years, various virtual reality games are becoming commercialized. A variety of large 3D online games popular with users has begun to transform into VR games. < the Elder Scrolls V: skyrim VR > as a derivative of large-scale 3D online games < the Elder Scrolls V: skyrim special edition >, Since its launch on the steam game platform in April 2018, because of its original UI design, maximizes the user's immersive experience and firmly maintains the leading position of VR games. Although the visual similarities between < the Elder Scrolls V: Skylim VR > and < the Elder Scrolls V: Skylim Special Edition > are high, but the visual elements in the UI are quite different. This paper studies characters, scenes, operating interfaces, colors and fonts five visual UI elements that enhance the immersion in game. It provided a unique interface design reference to immersive experience of new VR games in the future.
