IoT-enabled Solutions for Tour Photography Services

  • In this paper, we propose an IoT-enabled solution for tour photography services with small-size investment and resources in the travel and tourism industries, being able to impact on economic, social, and cultural values. An IoT-enabled camera is developed based on an open hardware and software platform complying with oneM2M, which can make traditional embedded systems oneM2M-compliant devices due to a middleware solution called TAS (thing adaptation software). IoT cameras deployed around photo zones in a tour site could be remotely controlled via an IoT gateway with a Web-based application on a smartphone. Users would perform a pan and tilt camera control if they want and then take and download a perfect photo picture (even though they are away from the tour site). We expect that the proposed solution will promote the deployment IoT-enabled technologies in tour and travel industries which are important parts of the tertiary sector.

  • This study focuses on the new teaching assistance robot platform and the cloud-based education service model to support the server. In the client area we would like to use the teacher assistant robot in elementary school classrooms to utilize the language education service platform. Emerging IoT technology will be adopted to provide a comfortable classroom environment and various media interfaces. Extensive precedent review and case study have been conducted to identify basic requirements of proposed service platform. Embedded system and technology for image recognition, speech recognition, autonomous movement, display, touch screen, IR sensor, GPS, and temperature-humidity sensor were extensively investigated to complete the service. Key findings of this paper are optimized service platform with cloud server system and possibilities of potential smart classroom with intelligent robot by adopting IoT and BIM technology.

  • In this paper, we take advantage of the SEN Remote HMI App as a tool based on Raspberry Pi server for the smart home control. This is a smart home control system built in an open and a low-cost Raspberry Pi as a server, and take advantage of Android-based graphical programming software SEN Remote HMI. If you build it based system expansion and additional works interface via the Raspberry Pi and Arduino, it is expected to be extended to the Internet of Things (IoT) enabling environment for the implementation of smart home.

  • This paper describes a design and implementation of the NFC bridge chip which performs interface between kinds of devices and mobile phones including NFC controller through NFC communication. The NFC bridge chip consists of the digital part and the analog part which are based on NFC Forum standard. Therefore the chip treats RF signals and then transforms the signal to digital data, so it can interface kinds of devices with the digital data. Especially the chip is able to detect RF signals and then wake up the host processor of a device. The wakeup function dramatically decreases the power consumption of the device. The carrier frequency is 13.56MHz, and the data rate is up to 424kbps. The chip has been fabricated with SMIC 180nm mixed-mode technology. Additionally an NFC bridge chip application to the blood glucose measurement system is described for an application example.

  • The Web is a way to share documents and communicate. However, voice and video data can be transmission in real time and currently being developed by the objects and the objects that interact to further develop the Internet. Existing video and audio programs to transmission data to the interface of different types of systems a lot of constraint condition on the cost of the interface, extensibility. In this paper, voice and audio transmission system a different operating system, improve the constraints of the ERP system compatibility and extensibility is a open source based system developed by the research.   • With the major advancement of vehicle-related technologies and services, the demands for the in/out-vehicle service expansion increase significantly. The key importance of the service expansion is to provide various vehicle-centric services in addition to improve the convenience and usability of users with connectivity. Recently, Internet of Things (IoT) gains major attention for small device connectivity and service, and it widens its area to other industries including automotive to advance and diversify its services. In this paper, we investigated the technical direction of the IoT service with the analysis of IoT technologies in the perspective of the vehicle. At first, we analyzed the vehicle and IoT services in each so that we are able to suggest the service design guideline and consideration to release integrated services between vehicle and IoT. Also, we reviewed the cases of few vehicle and home IoT integration services for the major insights and future direction of the integration services.

  • IoT is the foundation technology that the things share the information through connected with Internet to provide service based on these information. It is applied to various fields such as personal, public and industry. Therefore, the service development is required to meet the requirement of the various service environments. The IoT service environment will be developed as the participation IoT service environment which increase the value and efficiency such as the Broadcasting and web services changed from the service provider environment to the user participation service. The user can directly reflect their requirements using the user participation IoT service environment. So, the types of IoT services will diverse and accelerate the spread of IoT service. In this paper, we derive the IoT service element through the analysis of various service scenarios, and propose the participation IoT service model and modeling mechanism. It provides the sequential service model and the relation based service model according to the service modeling proficiency of user. The proposed environment provides the web-based user interface that is implemented by the participation IoT service brokering platform.

  • In the IoT environment, various things could be connected. Those connected things learn and operate themselves, by acquiring data. As human being, they have self-learning and self-operating systems. In the field of IoT study, therefore, the key issue is to design communication system connecting both of the two different types of subjects, human being(user) and the things. With the advent of the IoT environment, much research has been done in the field of UI design. It can be seen that research has been conducted to take complex factors into account through keywords such as multi-modality and interusability. However, the existing UI design method has limitations in structuring or testing interaction between things and users of IoT environment. Therefore, this paper suggests a new UI prototyping method. In this paper, the major analysis and studies are as follows: (1) defined what is the behavior process of the things (2) analyzed the existing IoT product (3) built a new framework driving personality types (4) extracted three representative personality models (5) applied the three models to the smart home service and tested UI prototyping. It is meaningful with that this study can confirm user experience (UX) about IoT service in a more comprehensive way. Moreover, the concept of the personality of things will be utilized as a tool for establishing the identity of artificial intelligence (AI) services in the future.

  • Information and communication technologies (ICT) have been combined with products from other industries to provide new functionality, as recently shown in the cases of Internet of Things (IoT). Modularity assumes a crucial role in such technological convergence, and has impacts on the relationship between organizations as well as competition within an industry. Interface standards, which ensure the connectivity between modules, serve as a critical factor in the process by which modularity affects organization systems and industry structure. To understand the aforementioned phenomenon, we studied modularity and interface standards with a focus on the interaction between technology and organization systems and subsequent changes in industrial dynamics. This paper examines previous literature on modularity and interface standards in the aspects of product architecture, organization systems, and institutional factors. With this analytical framework, we conducted a comparative analysis of electronic and automotive industries to derive implications for standardization policy. This research has shown the significance of external open interface standards in shaping an industrial landscape where a variety of module producers horizontally compete. It also advises that policymakers take into account product characteristics, engagement of leading firms in an industry, and institutional factors such as WTO law in the design of standardization policy.

Design and Implementation of Realtime Things Control System Using MQTT and WebSocket in IoT Environment (IoT환경에서 MQTT와 WebSocket을 활용한 실시간 사물제어 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • This Paper presents the real time things control method through Web browser that has no limited by time and place. To design and realize the system that not only makes it possible to communicate with other protocols but also reinforces the advantages of each protocol, the real time communication environment, based on the WebSocket technology of HTML5 whose international standardization has recently been completed, is realized. Also, the message communication environment in the low electricity and limited communication environment is realized using MQTT(Message Queue Telemetry Transport) protocol which is in the spotlight as the optimum protocol in the IoT environment. And by designing intuitive and simple hardware and realizing the responsive web interface which is not limited by the user's contact devices, the interactive system in which the user receives real time data from the hardware and reversely the user controls the things is designed and realized.
