Information and communication technologies (ICT) have been combined with products from other industries to provide new functionality, as recently shown in the cases of Internet of Things (IoT). Modularity assumes a crucial role in such technological convergence, and has impacts on the relationship between organizations as well as competition within an industry. Interface standards, which ensure the connectivity between modules, serve as a critical factor in the process by which modularity affects organization systems and industry structure. To understand the aforementioned phenomenon, we studied modularity and interface standards with a focus on the interaction between technology and organization systems and subsequent changes in industrial dynamics. This paper examines previous literature on modularity and interface standards in the aspects of product architecture, organization systems, and institutional factors. With this analytical framework, we conducted a comparative analysis of electronic and automotive industries to derive implications for standardization policy. This research has shown the significance of external open interface standards in shaping an industrial landscape where a variety of module producers horizontally compete. It also advises that policymakers take into account product characteristics, engagement of leading firms in an industry, and institutional factors such as WTO law in the design of standardization policy.
Due to the rapid development and dissemination of 5G communication and IoT technologies, there are increasing demands for big data analysis techniques and service systems. In particular, explosively growing demands on AI technology adoption are also causing high competitions to take advantages of machine/deep-learning models to extract novel values from enormously collected data. In order to adopt AI technology to various research and application domains, it is necessary to prepare high-performance GPU-equipped systems and perform complicated settings to utilze deep learning models. To relieve the efforts and lower the barrier to utilize AI techniques, AIaaS(AI as a service) platform is attracting a great deal of attention as a promising on-line service, where the complexity of preparation and operation can be hidden behind the cloud side and service developers only need to utilize the high-level AI services easily. In this paper, we propose an AIaaS system which can support the creation of AI services based on Docker and OpenFaaS from the registration of models to the on-line operation. We also describe a case study to show how AI services can be easily generated by the proposed system.

Among the fintech businesses that are actively developing around the world, payment and settlement are the most prominent. Korea has a well-developed IT industry and a good existing card payment environment, however, its innovative movement is overwhelmingly slower than that of other countries in the fintech. In this study, we try to assess the regulations on fintech and their impacts on the startup ecosystem by comparing the cases of U.S., China, and Korea. We have found that both the United States and China have lowered barriers to entry for the newly launched fintech industry, allowing startups and IT companies to start fintech businesses at the existing financial sector. Particularly the implementation of predictable regulations in U.S., and the failure to apply the financial regulations in China, help start-up companies' growth in the fintech industry. This finding provides us with a lesson that current positive regulations in Korea should gradually change into negative regulations, and predictable regulations that strictly enforce post-management except major items rather than pre-approval. The policy implications are discussed with the perspective of start-ups in fintech industry.

The scale of graph data has been increased rapidly because of the growth of mobile Internet applications and the proliferation of social network services. This brings upon the imminent necessity of efficient distributed and parallel graph processing approach since the size of these large-scale graphs are easily over a capacity of a single machine. Currently, there are two popular parallel graph processing approaches, vertex-centric graph processing and block centric processing. While a vertex-centric graph processing approach can easily be applied to the parallel processing system, a block-centric graph processing approach is proposed to compensate the drawbacks of the vertex-centric approach. In these systems, the initial quality of graph partition affects to the overall performance significantly. However, it is a very difficult problem to divide the graph into optimal states at the initial phase. Thus, several dynamic load balancing techniques have been studied that suggest the progressive partitioning during the graph processing time. In this paper, we present a load balancing algorithms for the block-centric graph processing approach where most of dynamic load balancing techniques are focused on vertex-centric systems. Our proposed algorithm focus on an improvement of the graph partition quality by dynamically reassigning blocks in runtime, and suggests block split strategy for escaping local optimum solution.

In a closed workplace, the management of the workplace is important because the environmental data at the workplace has a great influence on the safety of workers. Today's industrial sites are transformed into data-based factories that collect and analyze data through sensors in those sites, requiring a management system to ensure safety. In general, a safety management system stores and manages data on a central server associated with a database. Since such management system introduces high possibility of forgery and loss of data, workers often suspect the reliability of the information on the management system. In this paper, we present a worker safety management system based on the EOS blockchain which is considered as third-generation blockchain technology. The developed system consists of a set of smart contracts on the EOS blockchain and 3 decentralized applications associated with the blockchain. According to the roles of users, the worker and manager applications respectively perform the process of initiating or terminating tasks as blockchain transactions. The entire transaction history is distributed and stored in all nodes participating in the blockchain network, so forgery and loss of data is practically impossible. The system administrator application assigns the account rights of workers and managers appropriate for performing the functions, and specifies the safety standards of IoT data for ensuring workplace safety. The IoT data received from sensor platforms in workplaces and the information on initiation, termination or approval of tasks assigned to workers, are explicitly stored and managed in the EOS smart contracts.

Recently, the smart home environment is expected to be a platform that collects, integrates, and utilizes various data through convergence with wireless information and communication technology. In fact, the number of smart devices with various sensors is increasing inside smart homes. The amount of data that needs to be processed by the increased number of smart devices is also increasing, and big data processing systems are actively being introduced to handle it effectively. However, traditional big data processing systems have all requests directed to cluster drivers before they are allocated to distributed nodes, leading to reduced cluster-wide performance sharing as cluster drivers managing segmentation tasks become bottlenecks. In particular, there is a greater delay rate on smart home devices that constantly request small data processing. Thus, in this paper, we design a Apriori-based big data system for effective data processing in smart home environments where frequent requests occur at the same time. According to the performance evaluation results of the proposed system, the data processing time was reduced by up to 38.6% from at least 19.2% compared to the existing system. The reason for this result is related to the type of data being measured. Because the amount of data collected in a smart home environment is large, the use of cache servers plays a major role in data processing, and association analysis with Apriori algorithms stores highly relevant sensor data in the cache.
A hyper-connected intelligence information society is emerging that creates new value by converging IoT, AI, and Bigdata, which are new technologies of the fourth industrial revolution, in all industrial fields. Everything is connected to the network and data is exploding, and artificial intelligence can learn on its own and even intellectual judgment functions are possible. In particular, the Internet of Things provides a new communication environment that can be connected to anything, anytime, anywhere, enabling super-connections where everything is connected. Artificial intelligence technology is implemented so that computers can execute human perceptions, learning, reasoning, and natural language processing. Artificial intelligence is developing advanced technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, voice recognition, and visual recognition, and includes software, machine learning, and cloud technologies specialized in various applications such as safety, medical, defense, finance, and welfare. Through this, it is utilized in various fields throughout the industry to provide human convenience and new values. However, on the contrary, it is time to respond as intelligent and sophisticated cyber threats are increasing and accompanied by potential adverse functions such as securing the technical safety of new technologies. In this paper, we propose a new data modeling method to enable IoT integrated security control by utilizing artificial intelligence technology as a way to solve these adverse functions.

With the flood of digital data owing to the Internet of Things and big data, cloud service providers that process and store vast amount of data from multiple users can apply duplicate data elimination technique for efficient data management. The user experience can be improved as the notion of edge computing paradigm is introduced as an extension of the cloud computing to improve problems such as network congestion to a central cloud server and reduced computational efficiency. However, the addition of a new edge device that is not entirely reliable in the edge computing may cause increase in the computational complexity for additional cryptographic operations to preserve data privacy in duplicate identification and elimination process. In this paper, we propose an efficiency-improved duplicate data elimination protocol while preserving data privacy with an optimized user-edge-cloud communication framework by utilizing a trusted execution environment. Direct sharing of secret information between the user and the central cloud server can minimize the computational complexity in edge devices and enables the use of efficient encryption algorithms at the side of cloud service providers. Users also improve the user experience by offloading data to edge devices, enabling duplicate elimination and independent activity. Through experiments, efficiency of the proposed scheme has been analyzed such as up to 78x improvements in computation during data outsourcing process compared to the previous study which does not exploit trusted execution environment in edge computing architecture.

In this paper, we introduce an integrated processing system of smart sensor data for IoT service which collects sensor data and efficiently processes it. Based on the technology of collecting sensor data to the development of the IoT field and sending it to the network · Based on the receiving technology, as various projects such as smart homes, autonomous running vehicles progress, the sensor data is processed and effectively An autonomous control system to utilize has been a problem. However, since the data type of the sensor for monitoring the autonomous control system varies according to the domain, a sensor data integration processing system applying the autonomous control system to various different domains is necessary. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce the Smart Sensor Data Integrated Processing System, apply it and use the window as a reference to process internal and external sensor data 1) receiveData, 2) parseData, 3) addToDatabase 3 With the process of the stage, we provide and implement the automatic window opening / closing system "Smart Window" which ventilates to create a comfortable indoor environment by autonomous control system. As a result, standby information is collected and monitored, and machine learning for performing statistical analysis and better autonomous control based on the stored data is made possible.
With the advent of 4th industrial revolution, the manufacturing industry is converging with ICT and changing into the era of smart manufacturing. In the smart factory, all machines and facilities are connected based on ICT, and thus security should be further strengthened as it is exposed to complex security threats that were not previously recognized. To reduce the risk of security incidents and successfully implement smart factories, it is necessary to identify key security factors to be applied, taking into account the characteristics of the industrial environment of smart factories utilizing ICT. In this study, we propose a 'hierarchical classification model of security factors in smart factory' that includes terminal, network, platform/service categories and analyze the importance of security factors to be applied when developing smart factories. We conducted an assessment of importance of security factors to the groups of smart factories and security experts. In this study, the relative importance of security factors of smart factory was derived by using AHP technique, and the priority among the security factors is presented. Based on the results of this research, it contributes to building the smart factory more securely and establishing information security required in the era of smart manufacturing.
