The Analysis of the Major Accidents caused by Fatigue of Pilot with TEM (조종사 피로에 의한 항공사고의 TEM 적용을 통한 공통요인 도출에 관한 연구)

  • Charles Lindbergh has experienced the uncontrolled situation of the aircraft while he was asleep with open eyes during his Atlantic crossing flight around 20 hours after departure from the New York in 1927 because of the fatigue. According to the NTSB(National Transportation Safety Board) reports, about 40 incidents are related fatigue in each year. The sleep loss is the most wanted item for the NTSB and may cause the similar effect as the alcohol does. The fatigue may affect the management of the threats and errors especially during take-off and landing. In this study, threats and errors of major accidents that NTSB analysed fatigue as a causal factor will be identified in order to understand the seriousness of fatigue.

  • In this study, we try to find out and analyze the results of reduced self-esteem and loss using text mining. Physical health is important, of course, but these days, mental health is considered more important. In order for the mind to be healthy, it is important to have self-esteem and self-confidence first. Self-esteem decreases, and if lost, it directly leads to depression. If depression is severe, the worst will lead to self-harm and suicide. However, more and more people are committing suicide these days because both ordinary people and entertainers cannot overcome depression. For this reason, the seriousness of depression and loss of self-esteem are also considered important and become an issue. Therefore, we want to collect data for a certain period of time through Naver, Instagram, and Twitter searches and extract the words of the data to anticipate and analyze the cause of loss of self-esteem, how serious the recent depression is, and what the consequences of loss of self-esteem are.

The Relationship between Insomnia and Suicidal Idea Through Resilience (회복탄력성을 통한 주관적 불면의 심각도와 자살사고와의 관계)

  • Objectives : Insomnia may be one of the risk factor for suicidal ideation, but little is known about the mechanism by which sleep disturbances confer risk for suicide. The aim of this study was to investigate examine whether insomnia severity would be associated with resilience and suicidal ideation, and whether resilience would mediate the relationship between insomnia and suicidal ideation. Methods : A total of 432 community-dwelling adults(227 male, 205 female,) completed the self-report questionnaire that covered basic socio-demographic data. To assess the psychological variables, the following instruments were applied: Insomnia Severity Index(ISI), Korean Version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(K-CD-RISC), Beck Hopelessness Scale(BHOP) and Scale for Suicidal Ideation(SSI-Beck). People with an ISI score of 8 or higher were defined as insomnia. Results : Greater insomnia symptom severity was significantly associated with higher level of suicidal ideation and lower level of resilience, adjusting for hopelessness, age, sex, presence of family members living together, and household income. Additional analysis revealed that disturbance of sleep initiation and disturbance of sleep maintenance were significantly associated with suicidal ideation. Mediation analyses revealed that resilience significantly accounted for the relationship between insomnia symptom severity and suicidal ideation. Conclusions : These findings suggest that the evaluation and control of insomnia and resilience may be needed to reduce the risk of suicide.

Analysis of Accident Characteristics and Improvement Strategies of Flash Signal-operated Intersection in Seoul (서울시 점멸신호 운영에 따른 교통사고 분석 및 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • Traffic accident frequency and severity level in Korea are known to be very serious. Especially the number of pedestrian fatalities was much worse and 1.6 time higher than the OECD average. According to the National Police Agency, the flash signals are reported to have many safety benefits as well as travel time reduction, which is opposed to the foreign studies. With this background of expanding the flash signal, this research aims to investigate the overall impact of the flash signal operation on safety, investigating and comparing the accident occurrence on the flash signal and the full signal intersections. For doing this accident prediction models for both flash and full signal intersections were estimated using independent variables (geometric features and traffic volume) and 3-year (2011-2013) accident data collected in Seoul. Considering the rare and random nature of accident occurrence and overdispersion (variance > mean) of the data, the negative binomial regression model was applied. As a result, installing wider crosswalk and increasing the number of pedestrian push buttons seemed to increase the safety of the flash signal intersections. In addition, the result showed that the average accident occurrence at the flash signal intersections was higher than at the full signal-operated intersections, 9% higher with everything else the same.

  • To evaluate radiological impact from the operation of a low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste disposal facility, a logical presentation and explanation of expected accidental scenarios is essential to the stakeholders of the disposal facility. The logical assessment platform and procedure, including analysis of the safety function of disposal components, operational hazard analysis, operational risk analysis, and preparedness of remedial measures for operational safety, are improved in this study. In the operational risk analysis, both design measures and management measures are suggested to make it possible to connect among design, operation, and safety assessment within the same assessment platform. For the preparedness of logical assessment procedure, classification logic of an operational accident is suggested based on the probability of occurrence and consequences of assessment results. The improved assessment platform and procedure are applied to an operational accident analysis of the Korean low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste disposal facility and partly presented in this paper.

Development and Validation of Situation Awareness Tests for Commercial Drivers (사업용 운전자를 위한 상황인식 검사의 개발과 타당화)

  • This research aimed to investigate whether commercial drivers' situation awareness ability is related to their frequency and magnitude of caused accidents and penalty points. For the purpose of measuring drivers' situation perception and interpretation capacities, two tests named 'situation awareness test' and 'hazard perception test' were developed. The tests were based on the data from 299 commercial drivers (test drivers) using a driving simulator. The outcome of drivers' performance on situation awareness and hazard perception tests was designed to be categorized into 5 grades, classifying the best as grade 1 and the worst as grade 5. As the result, low grades on situation awareness test had positive relationship with accumulated penalty points, frequency of accidents and safety index. Grades on hazard perception test were also positively correlated with accident frequency and safety indices. This suggests situation awareness ability of commercial drivers is significantly related to traffic violations and accident causing tendencies.

  • Forensic engineering is the area of expertise of those qualified to serve as engineering experts in courts of law or arbitration proceedings. Especially failure of internal parts during vehicle fire accidents causing injuries and damage to property almost always generates conflict between the automaker and customer. Hence, the investigation of such events generally involves an engineering analysis. One of the possible reasons for such accidents caused by vehicle fire is the failure of the piston and connecting rod. By formal inspections and engineering tests, this study shows the results of investigation and the cause of failure of the mechanical parts. For this purpose the failure mechanism is analyzed by using fractography methods and by applying an instrumented indentation technique to compare the material properties of the reference part with those of the malfunctioning part.

  • 근래에 한국의 생명보험 시장에는 주요 질병의 보장을 위한 상품들이 연일 쏟아져 나오고 있다. 그러나 이와 함께 증가될 수 있는 리스크에 대한 대비는 상대적으로 부족한 실정이다. 특히 간질환에 의한 급부발생이 타질환에 비하여 현격하게 높은 국내 실정에 맞게 언더라이팅 초점이 맞추어져야 할 필요가 있다. 간질환 유발인자로 대표적인 것은 B형 간염이지만, 과다한 알코올 섭취에 의한 간질환 역시 매해 빠른 속도로 증가하는 추세이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 알코올에 의한 질환의 종류와 이와 관련된 보험금 청구 통계, 그리고 음주로 인한 교통사고의 폐해에 대해 살펴보고, 알코올 남용자를 사전에 판별할 방법을 찾아보고자 한다. 일반적으로 알려져 있는 알코올 관련 질환으로는 지방간, 알코올성 간염, 알코올성 간경변이 있으며, 이로 인한 급부발생율은 급격히 증가하고 있다. 음주로 인한 폐해는 단순히 간질환에 그치지 않고 있으며, 교통사고의 상당수가 음주와 관련이 되어있다. 이러한 리스크에 대해 국내의 상당수 보험사들은 혈액검사를 통하여 간기능에 대한 기준을 설정하여 언더라이팅을 하고 있다. 현재 주로 시행되고 있는 간기능 검사들에 대한 정확도에 대해서는 논란이 있을 수 있다. 따라서 보다 정밀한 검사법들에 대한 연구가 필요할 것이다. 외국의 경우, 보험을 가입하고자 하는 보험 대상자들은 직업이나 흡연, 위험 취미뿐만 아니라 알코올과 관련된 일정한 양식의 질문표에 대하여 성실하게 고지하도록 하고 있다. 국내에도 알코올과 관련된 자세한 고지항목을 첨부하여, 일정 기준에 미치지 못하는 가입자에 대하여 표준미달체로 분류하여 보다 정밀한 검진을 통해 세밀한 언더라이팅이 이루어져야 하겠다. 이와 아울러, 알코올로 인한 사회적 폐해의 심각성에 대한 인식 확대를 위한 각 보험사 및 유관기관의 노력이 전개된다면, 음주에 대한 진사 절차가 수월해질 것으로 기대된다.

  • 최근 국제해사기구(International Maritime Organization, IMO)는 "극지를 운항하는 선박에 대한 안전기준(Polar Code)"를 제정하여 결정하기로 하였으며, 2012년까지 완료하여 법제화하기로 하였다. 이는 최근의 극해 지역의 연속적인 사고의 심각성에 대한 대비책의 일환이다. 2004년도에 알라스카 앞바다에 침몰한 Selendang Ayu 는 6600만 톤의 콩, 170만 리터의 연료유와 55,564 리터의 MDO 및 다른 오염물질을 바다에 유출하였다. 이는 주변의 동물들에게 심각한 영향을 끼쳤고, 아직까지도 유출되어진 오염물질들을 완전히 처리하지 못한 상태이다(Arctic marine shipping assessment, Arctic council 2009.). 즉, 기름이 유출을 하면 방재시설이 다른 육상에서 오기 전까지는 상당히 오랜 시간 동안, 사고 지역 주변을 오염시키게 되며, 유빙이나 극한의 온도는 방재 작업을 더욱 힘들게 한다. 본 연구에서는 극해와 같은 해역에서 기름이 유출 하였을 때에 대응하는 방법, 즉 현존하는 기계적인 복구 방식, 점화식 처리 방식 과 유처리제 방식을 소개하고, 그에 대한 국제규정 및 기술 발전 동향에 대해서도 설명한다.

배관계통의 내진해석에 따른 응답조합과 누락질량효과

  • 원자력발전소는 사고시 주변의 인구 및 환경에 미치는 영향의 심각성을 고려하여 가능한 모든 안전조치를 취하여 설계. 건설되도록 하고 있다. 특히 원자로냉각재 계통의 배관이 그러하며 고도의 안전성 및 신뢰성을 확보하기 위하여 지진에 대해서도 구조적인 건전성이 입증되어야 한다. 일반적으로 지진하중에 대한 배관계통의 내진해석에서는 층응답스펙트럼에 의한 모우드 해석 방법이 이용되고 있다. 이 때 내진해석으로 얻어진 응답의 조합에는 신중한 고려가 필요 하다. 즉 배관계통의 특성, 입력지진의 특성, 계산에 고려하는 모우드의 수등을 감안하여 적절한 응답조합이 이루어져야 한다. 본 해설에서는 여러 가지의 응답조합방법과 해석시 고려되는 모 우드의 수를 제한함으로써 발생하는 오차를 보정하기 위한 누락질량효과(missing mass effect)에 대하여 설명하고자 한다. 또 두 가지의 해석모델에 대하여 실제 내진 해석을 수행하여 그 결 과를 비교검토하기로 한다.
