The Effects of Driving Confidence Level on Dangerous Driving Behaviors in the Novice Drivers: A Path Analysis Study (초보운전자의 운전확신수준이 위험운전에 미치는 영향: 경로분석을 이용한 연구)

  • This study focused on novice drivers. Novice drivers get involved in more traffic accidents than the other drivers because of less driving experience. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between driving confidence levels and speeding, drunken driving, and traffic accidents. 192 drivers responded driving confidence levels questionnaire and driving experience items. 'Circumstance Insensibility', 'Unsafe Driving', 'Incautious Driving', and 'Self-efficacy of Driving' had significant relations with speeding in novice divers group. Especially, 'Circumstance Insensibility' showed a significant relation with speeding, drunken driving and traffic accidents. In the result of path analysis, driving confidence levels explained 22% of the speeding, 12% of the drunken driving and 21% of the traffic accidents in novice drivers group. 'Circumstance Insensibility' was most effective for traffic accidents of novice drivers. We verified that 'Self-efficacy of Driving' affects on traffic accidents via speeding.

A Case Analysis of Intentional Car Explosion (고의에 의한 승용차폭발 사례의 분석)

  • This study analyzed the cause of car explosion that occurred in the riverside park. The car carrying a male driver and a female passenger was parked in the park and explosion occurred inside the car. After the explosion, the driver and the passenger got burned. When they went to the hospital by the 119 Rescue Service, they stated that the car was sprayed with thinner before they had a quarrel and the explosion occurred during their quarrel. However, after several days, they changed their statement. They said that gasoline in the plastic bottle was poured and ran into the cigarette lighter. They tried to pull the cigarette lighter but pushed it by mistake. Then explosion occurred. Because only the explosion by mistake could receive car insurance, whether the cause of explosion was intentional or not became an issue. The car exploded was carefully investigated and analyzed. The statement of the driver and passenger was analyzed in the aspect of fire science. As a result, it was demonstrated that this car explosion occurred by driver's intention.

  • 1990년대에 비해서 운전자의 연령층이 상대적으로 낮아지고, 여성 운전자가 급속하게 증가하면서 교통량증가에 따른 교통사고가 급격히 증가하고 있지만, 운전자에 대한 안전 교육이 미비하여 자동차에 대한 전반적인 전문 지식이 없는 운전자가 늘어나고 있다. 본 논문에서는 자동차 사고시 대처 방법 및 차량 관리 방법 등에 대한 교육이 필요하다는 점과 2009년 말 이후 스마트폰의 보급률이 폭발적으로 급증하고 있는 점에서 착안하여 스마트폰을 이용하여 간단한 사고 대처 요령부터 계절별 차량 관리 방법과 스마트폰에 내장된 GPS를 이용하여 현 위치에서 가까운 자동차 제조사별 서비스센터 및 지역별 서비스센터 정보를 검색 및 연락을 가능하게 하는 자동차 사고 119 어플리케이션을 설계 및 구현하였다.

  • 차량의 안전성능 향상을 위해서는 사고에 대한 예방안전장치, 사고후의 사고 확산 방지, 사고시의 안전대책 등 여러가지 조건들이 고려되어야 한다. 그외의 부가적인 것으로는 도로여건, 운전자를 포함한 운전자 주위의 환경요건이 있다. 본 고에서는 차량안전에 관한 일반적인 관련 사항을 소개하고, 추가적으로 충돌시험의 몇가지 simulation 방법에 대하여 기술하고자 한다.

Development for City Bus Dirver's Accident Occurrence Prediction Model Based on Digital Tachometer Records (디지털 운행기록에 근거한 시내버스 운전자의 사고발생 예측모형 개발)

  • This study aims to develop a model by which city bus drivers who are likely to cause an accident can be figured out based on the information about their actual driving records. For this purpose, from the information about the actual driving records of the drivers who have caused an accident and those who have not caused any, significance variables related to traffic accidents are drawn, and the accuracy between models is compared for the classification models developed, applying a discriminant analysis and logistic regression analysis. In addition, the developed models are applied to the data on other drivers' driving records to verify the accuracy of the models. As a result of developing a model for the classification of drivers who are likely to cause an accident, when deceleration ($X_{deceleration}$) and acceleration to the right ($Y_{right}$) are simultaneously in action, this variable was drawn as the optimal factor variable of the classification of drivers who had caused an accident, and the prediction model by discriminant analysis classified drivers who had caused an accident at a rate up to 62.8%, and the prediction model by logistic regression analysis could classify those who had caused an accident at a rate up to 76.7%. In addition, as a result of the verification of model predictive power of the models showed an accuracy rate of 84.1%.

  • 요즈음 교통사고를 줄이기 위하여 IT 기술을 이용한 교통사고 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 그러나, 뺑소니 교통사고 발생하면 가해차량을 현장에서 찾기가 매우 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기위해서 RFID TAG를 이용해서 뺑소니 교통사고가 발생할 경우에 차량에 내장된 RFID 리더기가 상대방 차량의 차량번호를 인식할 수 있는 모의실험을 하였다. 뿐만 아니라, PDA를 이용한 인터넷 기반에서 교통사고가 발생한 경우에 현장에서 운전자가 교통사고현장 자료 및 운전자 인적사항을 경찰서나 보험회사에 전송할 수 있는 SW를 모의실험 하였다. 모의실험결과 통과차량속도가 저속인 경우에는 70%이상 차량번호를 익식할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Analysis of the Vulnerable Roadway Designs for Elderly Drivers and Its Improvement Schemes (고령운전자 사고취약 도로형태 분석 및 개선방안 연구)

  • Improvement of roadway environments to accommodate elderly drivers' declining driving capabilities are required. Currently, even the types of roadway designs vulnerable to elderly drivers have not been revealed in Korea. Thus, this study aims to analyze the types and vulnerabilities of the roadway designs that elderly drivers experience more accidents based on crash data of the Korean National Police Agency. This study has also reviewed foreign guidelines enhancing their safety on different roadway designs. Compared with normal drivers, elderly drivers tend to be more frequently involved in traffic accidents on intersections and vehicle-to-vehicle accidents on curved roadway segments. Assuming freeway interchanges are also risky sections, this study has also examined several methods to reduce elderly driver-related accidents on freeway ramp areas.

Classifying Severity of Senior Driver Accidents In Capital Regions Based on Machine Learning Algorithms (머신러닝 기반의 수도권 지역 고령운전자 차대사람 사고심각도 분류 연구)

  • Moving toward an aged society, traffic accidents involving elderly drivers have also attracted broader public attention. A rapid increase of senior involvement in crashes calls for developing appropriate crash-severity prediction models specific to senior drivers. In that regard, this study leverages machine learning (ML) algorithms so as to predict the severity of vehicle-pedestrian collisions induced by elderly drivers. Specifically, four ML algorithms (i.e., Logistic model, K-nearest Neighbor (KNN), Random Forest (RF), and Support Vector Machine (SVM)) have been developed and compared. Our results show that Logistic model and SVM have outperformed their rivals in terms of the overall prediction accuracy, while precision measure exhibits in favor of RF. We also clarify that driver education and technology development would be effective countermeasures against severity risks of senior driver-induced collisions. These allow us to support informed decision making for policymakers to enhance public safety.

  • 본 논문은 끊이질 않는 졸음운전 사고를 방지하기 위한 연구 내용이다. Kinect 의 움직임 감지 기반 센서를 활용하여 센서를 통하여 얻은 수치를 코드화 하여 프로그램을 구현한다. 졸음운전이라는 안전사고는 사전에 방지가 가능한 안전사고로서 운전자들이 졸음에 빠졌을 때 이를 스스로 인지하여 운전자에게 청각적 신호를 주어 운전자의 졸음운전을 방지하여 안전운전을 지향한다. 이는 졸음운전이 잦은 장거리 운전자나 화물트럭 기사들, 습관적으로 졸음운전을 하는 운전자들에게 효과적인 시스템이다.
