Robust Beamforming Method by Linear Array Shape Estimation using Kanlman Filter (칼만필터 선배열 형상 추정에 의한 견실한 빔형성 기법 연구)

  • 예인형 선배열 소나에서 기존의 선배열 빔형성 기법을 적용하면 예인함 기동시 선배열 형상 변형에 의해 심각한 성능 저하 현상이 나타난다. 이러한 문제 해결을 위해 센서배열 변형을 고려한 견실한 빔형성 기법은 선배열 형상 추정을 위해 칼만필터를 이용한 형상 추정기법을 이용하고, 변형보상 빔형성을 위해 선배열 세그먼트 기울기 추정값을 이용하는 변형보상 빔형성 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 기법을 기존의 빔형성 기법을 적용하여 시뮬레이션에 의해 제안된 기법의 보상성능을 입증 하였다.

  • 이 논문에서 비선형 배열 MUSIC 빔형성 기법을 이용하여 예인형 선배열 센서 시스템의 표적 좌우 방위 분리 방법을 기술하였다. 이 기법은 배열 운동모델 Water-Pully 모델과 방향센서의 정보를 이용하는 칼만필터를 설계하여 예인함 기동에 따른 배열형상을 추정하고 표적의 좌우방위를 분리하기 위하여 추정된 배열형상에서 MUSIC 빔형성 기법으로 신호처리를 수행하였다. 또한 예인주기와 예인진폭과 같은 예인함 기동형태의 전형적인 빔형성 기법과 MUSIC 빔형성 기법으로 표적의 좌우 방위 분리 성능을 비교 분석하였다.

  • Random beamforming (RBF) uses the signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) feedback to select users in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. A large number of users are required to obtain the gain of multi-user diversity for a downlink transmission. However, if the number is not large enough, it may be difficult to obtain multi-user diversity, leading to a rapid degradation in performance. To resolve this problem, we propose the beamforming matrix transformation and the user scheduling method. The beamforming matrix transformation scheme uses the SINRs of each users and have a better performance than conventional schemes over a small number of users. In addition, we propose the user scheduling scheme corresponding to the beamforming matrix transformation. In simulation results, we demonstrate that the sum-rate can be improved according to the number of users.

Short-Array Beamforming Technique for the Investigation of Shear-Wave Velocity at Large Rockfill Dams (대형 사력댐에서의 전단파속도 평가를 위한 단측선 빔형성기법)

  • One of the input parameters in the evaluation of seismic performance of rockfill dams is shear-wave velocity of rock debris and clay core. Reliable evaluation of shear-wave velocity by surface-wave methods requires overcoming the problems of rock-debris discontinuity, material inhomogeneity and sloping boundary. In this paper, for the shear-wave velocity investigation of rockfill dams, SBF (Short-Array Beamforming) technique was proposed using the principles of conventional beamforming technique and adopted to solve limitations of the conventional surface-wave techniques. SBF technique utilizes a 3- to 9-m long measurement array and a far-field source, which allowed the technique to eliminate problems of near-field effects and investigate local anomalies. This paper describes the procedure to investigate shear-wave velocity profile of rockfill dams by SBF technique and IRF (Impulse-response filtration) technique with accuracy and reliability. Validity of the proposed SBF technique was verified by comparisons with downhole tests and CapSASW (Common-Array-Profiling Spectral-Analysis-of-Surface-Waves) tests at a railroad embankment compacted with rock debris.

High Resolution Wideband Local Polynomial Approximation Beamforming for Moving Sources (이동하는 음원에 적합한 고분해능 광대역 LPA 빔형성기법)

  • This paper presents a wideband LPA (local polynomial approximation) beamforming algorithm that is appropriate for wideband moving sources. The Proposed wideband LPA algorithm adopts STMV (steered minimum variance) method that utilizes a steered covariance matrix obtained from multiple frequency components in one data snapshot, instead of multiple data snapshots in one frequency bin. The wideband LPA cost function is formed using STMV weight vector. The Proposed algorithm searches for the instantaneous DOA and angular velocity that maximize the wideband LPA cost function. resulting in a higher resolution performance than that of a DS LPA beamforming algorithm. Several simulations using artificial data and sea trial data are used to demonstrate the performance of the Proposed algorithm.

  • We propose a robust adaptive beamforming algorithm for triplet array sonar. The proposed beamforming algorithm obtains robustness to mismatches, left/right discrimination, and has two steps. The first is a cardioid beamformer, which supports left/right discrimination of target signals. It applies the conventional delay-and-subtract to each triplet's signal with its rotation angle and obtains multiple cardioid beams. The second is a robust adaptive beamforming to minimize nearby interferences. We regard cardioid beams as input signals of a line array and apply an adaptive beamforming algorithm to the cardioid beams. Simulations results show that the proposed algorithm provides significantly better performance than the conventional algorithms, while supporting left/right discrimination of target signals.

  • 지금까지 수중음향 시스템에서 jammer 신호를 제거하는 방법에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나, 기존의 빔형성 기법은 간섭 신호원(interference source)이 움직일 경우 그 성능이 현저히 떨어지는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 이러한 현상은 수중 음향 시스템이 간섭 신호원의 움직임에 대하여 즉각적으로 null의 위치를 변화시키지 못하기 때문에 발생하게 된다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 시간에 따라 위치가 변하는 jammer 환경에 대하여 대응할 수 있는 새로운 알고리즘이 필요하게 된다. 이러한 단점을 보완하기 위해 본 논문에서는 가변 망각인자를 갖는 적응 빔형성 기법을 제안하고, 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 제안된 알고리즘이 기존의 적응 빔형성 기법에 비하여 출력 SINR(signal to interference plus noise ratio)의 측면에서 성능 향상을 가짐을 보였다.

Adaptive Coordinated Tx-Rx Beamforming for Multi-user MIMO Systems (다중 사용자 MIMO 시스템을 위한 적응적 Coordinated Tx-Rx 빔형성 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme for inter-user interference cancellation, when a BS communicates with multiple users that each has multiple receive antenna. The conventional coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme uses a fixed multi-stream per user regardless of the instantaneous channel states, that is, both user with ill-conditioned and well-conditioned channels have the same number of data streams. However, in the proposed adaptive coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme, we select the number of streams per user to solve the inefficient problem of the conventional coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming. As a result of applying the adaptive coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming scheme, the BER performance is improved. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional coordinated Tx-Rx beamforming algorithm by 2.5dB at a target BER of $10^{-2}$.

Performance Analysis of MVDR and RLS Beamforming Using Systolic Array Structure (시스토릭 어레이 구조를 갖는 최소분산 비왜곡응답 및 최소자승 회귀 빔형성기법 성능 분석)

  • This paper analyses the performance of either the minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) or the recursive least square (RLS) beamformer structured on the systolic array. Provided that the snapshot vector including the desired user's signal and the interferences with the noise is received at the array antenna. In order to improve the quality of received signal, MVDR or RLS algorithm can be utilized to update the beamformer weights recursively. Furthermore to increase the channel capacity, by the usage of the above schemes, the effect of the spatial filtering can be obtained which constructively combining multipath components corresponding to the desired user whereas the multiple access interferences (MAI) is nulled out on spatial domain. This paper introduces the MVDR and RLS beamformer structured on systolic array conducting the spatial filtering, and its performance under the multipath fading channel in the presence of multiple access interferences will be analyzed. To show the superior spatial filtering performances of the proposed scheme employing the systolic way structured beamformer, the computer simulations are carried out. And the validity of practical deployment of the proposed scheme will be confirmed throughout showing the BER behaviors and the beampatterns.

Iterative Weighted MMSE Beamforming for Downlink multiuser MISO System (하향링크 다중사용자 다중안테나 시스템을 지원하는 반복 가중치 최소평균자승오류 빔형성 기법)

  • Conventional MMSE beamforming scheme shows better performance than ZF or MF beamforming, but it does not aim increase of sum rate. This paper proposes sum rate maximizing scheme by representing sum rate as a function of weighted MSE. Proposed scheme increases sum rate iteratively by updating weights and beam whose initial form is conventional MMSE beam. Simulation result shows sum rate of proposed scheme is higher than those of conventional schemes and increases as the number of users increases.
