자유형 단조 공정에 의한 Ti-6Al-4V 빌렛 제조기술 (Manufacturing Process of the Ti-6Al-4V Billet by the Open-die Forging)

  • Manufacturing process of Ti-6Al-4V alloy billet was investigated with FEM simulation and experimental analysis. Before the breakdown process of Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingot, FEM simulation for the breakdown processes of Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingot was used to calculate the forging load and state variables such as strain, strain rate and temperature. In order to breakdown the ingot structure and make an equiaxed structure billet, two different processes were employed for a VAR/VAR processed Ti-6Al-4V alloy ingot. Firstly, the ingot was cogged in single-phase $\beta$ field at the temperature of $1,100^{\circ}C$. In the process, the coarse and inhomogeneous structure developed by the double melting process was broken down. The second breakdown was performed by upsetting and cogging processes in $\alpha+\beta$ phase field to obtain the microstructure of fine equixed $\alpha$ structure in the matrix of transformed $\beta$. Finally, the mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy billet made in this work were compared with those of other billet and ring product.

두 개의 압출빌렛을 사용하는 'Λ' 단면 앵글 구조재의 압출굽힘가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Extru-Bending Process of the Angle Product with 'Λ' Section Using Two Extrusion Billets)

  • In the present study about extru-bending of angle product, the bending of extruded angle products with the $'\Lambda'$ section and 'ㄱ', section can be obtained using two extrusion billets by the hot metal extru-bending machine with the two punches moving in the different velocity. The bending curvature can be controlled by the different velocity of billets through the two-hole container. This paper describes simulations and experiments of extru-bending process that can make bending during extruding by the difference of stem velocities. And they are applied to two kinds of dies, that is, one of them is conical dies with symmetry $'\Lambda'$ section and the other one is conical dies with asymmetry 'ㄱ' section. The results of the forming simulation by $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$ and results of experiments show that the bending phenomenon at the die exit during extrusion can be obtained with two extrusion billet by the two stems moving in the different velocity. And it was known that it is possible to design the structure of conical cavity of extrusion dies and to control the curvature of product through the simulation and experiment of extru-bending process.

분말 모합금 빌렛으로부터 제조된 Ni-W 합금테이프의 기계적 성질과 집합도 (Texture and Mechanical Properties of Ni-W Alloy Tapes Fabricated from Powder Mother Billets)

  • The mother Ni-W (1-5 wt.%) alloy billets for coated conductor substrate were fabricated by powder metallurgy process. The tensile test results for the sintered Ni-W rods showed the increase of mechanical strength and decrease of ductility with increasing W content due to the solid solution hardening. All the fracture surfaces of the tested specimens showed the typical ductile fracture mode of dimple rupture due to the local necking. The Ni-W alloy billets were made into tape by cold rolling. After the appropriate heat treatment for recrystallization, the brass texture formed by the cold rolling was converted to the complete cube texture. The in-plane and out of plane texture of the tapes estimated by x-ray pole figure were smaller than 9 degree and 7 degree, respectively. The effect of the W addition on the texture development seems not to be significant.

멀티빌렛을 사용한 압출굽힘가공의 성형 해석 (Forming Simulation of Extru-Bending Process Using Multi-Billets)

  • The bending phenomenon has been known to be occurred by the difference of velocity at the die exit. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets inside die chamber after passing the multi-hole container. The curvature can be controlled by the two variables, the one of them is the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container, the other is the difference of hole diameter. The bending phenomenon during extruding using four billets can be obtained by the difference of hole diameters in the multi-hole container or by the difference of relative velocity of billet inserted in the container. As results of DEFORM-3D analysis, it can be shown that bending can be obtained during extruding by the difference of relative velocity of two billets or by the difference of hole diameter, and the amount of curvature is increased by the difference of velocity and diameter. According to the shape of products, the curvature of rectangular section is bigger than the curvature of regular square section. And, it is estimated that, because the stress on the welding line is much higher than yield stress of material, the bonding of four billets can be obtained.

3 wt.% Cu 함유 STS 304 빌렛의 열간가공성과 표면결합에 미치는 δ-ferrite의 영향 (Effect of δ-Ferrite on the Hot Workability and Surface Defect of STS 304 Billets Containing 3 wt. % Cu)

  • To investigate the effect of D-ferrite on the hot workability and surface defect of STS 304 billets containing 3 wt. % Cu, microstructure observations and high temperature mechanical properties test were carried out for the specimens extracted mainly from raw or oxidized billets. It was found that the total $\delta$-ferrite content has little influence on the hot workability, even though the fracture cracks due to high temperature tension or compression test were initiated and propagated mostly along $\delta$/${\gamma}$ boundary in the specimens. On the other hand, it was supposed that the direct causes of surface defects in the wire rolled from the as-continuously cast billet were the grain boundary embrittlement arose from the deep diffusion of oxygen into the grain boundary, and the oxidation of $\delta$-ferrite connected by a grain boundary to the surface during the billet reheating process as well.

  • The reheating stage of electromagnetically stirred Al billet is a critical factor in the thixoforming process. When reheated to the solid-liquid state, the microstructure evolves to a more globular and more homogeneous structure by a coarsening mechanism, the kinetics depending on the initial microstructure. Microstructural evolution has been characterized by conventional parameters (mean size of particle and shape factor) as a function of holding time in the solid-liquid state. The aim of this study is to report experimental results concerning microstructural evolution in the solid-liquid state of electromagnetically stirred Al billet. The material was elaborated in the form of continuously cast bars solidified with electromagnetic stirring to degenerate the dendritic structure. The choice of the reheating conditions is determined by a dendritic ripening and coalescence mechanism, involving variations of both the shape and size of the particles. The reheating time has to be long enough to allow a minimum degree of spheroidizing, but has to be limited as much as possible in order to avoid excessive ripening. The optimum microstructure was obtained at the reheating temperature of near $584^{\circ}C$ and the holding time of 5 min. The only means of combining high productivity with good casting quality was to use feedstock billets whose microstructure showed rapid transformation characteristics.

AZ91 마그네슘합금 절분 및 스크랩의 재활용에 관한 연구 (The study on the recycle for machined chips and scraps of AZ91 magnesium alloy)

  • AZ91 마그네슘합금 절분 및 스크램외 재활용을 목적으로 절분 및 스크랩을 상온가압하여 빌렛을 얻었다. 이 압출용 벨렛을 압축비율 25:1로 고정하고, 압출온도를 $300~380^{\circ}C$로 변화시켜 가면서 시편을 제조하였으며, 비교재로 마그네슘합금 주조재도 열간압출을 행하였다. 마그네숨합금 절분 및 스크랩을 열간압출함에 따라 매우 미세한 재설정 조직을 얻었으며, 인장강도 및 연산률은 각각 330 MPa, 10%로 주조재를 열간압층한 재료와 거의 비슷한 기계적 특성을 나타내었다.

  • In order to reduce the weight of automobile parts, automobile parts using aluminum alloy are being developed. Aluminum alloy for automobile parts is mainly made of Al6xxx (Al-Mg-Si) type alloy, which is excellent in hot forming property, and it can increase mechanical properties by the use of heat treatment. In this study, hot forming was performed using Al6082. Before the hot forming, the forming analysis was performed using the DEFORM-3D finite element analysis program in this case. For the forming analysis, the heat transfer coefficient was derived from the experiment, and the forming analysis was performed by applying it. At the forging analysis, the temperature of Al6082 material was set to 813K and that of the mold was set to room temperature. After the forging analysis, the experiment was performed, and the forging analysis and the experimental results were compared.

고속전철 내·외장재용 알루미늄 합금의 압출 금형 개발 및 압출 조건의 제어 (Extrusion Die Development of Interior & Exterior Parts for High Speed Train on Aluminum Alloys and Controls of Extrusion Conditions)

  • 압출기술에서 중요한 것은 금형의 설계 및 제작이며, 원하는 형태의 압출이 원활히 이루어지는 동시에 금형의 수명을 최대한 연장하고 효율성을 높이기 위한 금형의 설계가 필수적이다. 압출 온도, 압출 속도 등이 압출시의 주된 변수이며, 압출비 및 재료의 물성, 압출 형태에 따라 각기 다른 조건이 부가되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 고속전철 내외장재 부품용 알루미늄 6xxx 계열 주조 합금의 압출공정에 대해 연구하였다. 6063, 6061, 6N01, 6005, 5083 and 6060 알루미늄 합금의 압출 금형 단면을 설계하였으며 이에 대한 실험을 실시하였다. 또한, 빌렛온도, 압출온도 및 재료의 변화에 따른 압출 압력과 같은 압출 조건들을 분석하였다. 6063 알루미늄 합금이 가장 낮은 온도와 압력에서 압출이 가능한 반면 6061 합금은 가장 높은 온도와 압력에서 압출이 가능하였다. 이들 실험결과로부터 수립된 조건들을 이용하여 성공적인 압출제품을 제조할 수 있었다.

자동차 부품용 마그네슘 합금 관재 압출공정조건 분석 (Analysis of Tube Extrusion Process Conditions Using Mg Alloy for Automotive Parts)

  • 경량화는 대기오염과 자원고갈의 측면에서 매우 중요하게 인식되고 있어, 많은 자동차용 부품이 Al 및 Mg 합금으로 대체되었으며, 관련 연구가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 그러나 Mg 합금은 Al 합금에 비해 높은 재료비와 난성형성으로 인한 낮은 생산성 때문에 제한적으로 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 FEA를 이용하여 자동차 범퍼 백 빔용 관재에 대한 공정조건을 분석하였으며, 생산성을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 확립하였다. 물성치 확보를 위해 물성시험을 수행하였으며, 소성변형 중 발생하는 열 관련 물성을 정의하기 위하여 단순형상에 대한 실험과 해석을 수행하였다. 이후 온도조건 및 램 속도를 고려하여 제품에 대한 해석을 수행하였다. 이를 통하여 압출공정조건을 확립하였으며, 표면결함이 없는 제품을 성형하는데 성공하였다.
