Development of the Multi-Propeller based Attitude Control Method for VTOL type Compound Aircraft (VTOL 타입의 복합형 비행체에 적용가능한 다수 프로펠러 기반 자세제어기법의 개발)

  • In recent decades, many researchers have been struggling to developing the compound aircraft that is capable high speed and VTOL flight. And in recent years, multi-copters are very popular because of having advantages of VTOL and easy handling, but they are lack of doing long-range mission. Therefore, we presents simple aircraft architecture which is equipped fixed wing, multi propellers and no control surfaces. In this paper, we designed the attitude control for the compound aircraft prototype and measured the attitude control performance with flight test for validating prototype's performance. We analysed the attitude control test result comparing with similar size of a fixed wing aircraft. The performance was almost same as fixed wing aircraft.

  • A design study was conducted for a new concept aircraft(Canard Rotor/Wing: CRW) that has the capability of dual mode flight, a rotorcraft and a fixed wing mode. The CRW can show a vertical take off/landing and a high speed/efficiency cruise performance simultaneously. It is not surprising to develop a new sizing code for this class of aircraft because conventional sizing codes developed solely for either the rotary wing or the fixed wing aircraft are not adequate to design a dual mode aircraft operated both by the rotary wing through tip jet effux and the fixed wing lift. Thus, a new design code was developed based on the conventional sizing code by adding some features including rotor performance, duct flow, and engine flow analysis, hence could eventually predict the performance of reaction driven rotor, the flight performance and the flight characteristics. The various design parameters were investigated to find their influences on the flight performance then, a small UAV(Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle) of 1500 lbs class was optimally designed to have minimum weight using the developed sizing code.

  • This paper represents a method for designing of path following Line-of-Sight(LOS) guidance law based on vehicle kinematics. In general, a LOS guidance law which is composed of gains and approach length as design parameters is designed by empirical or trial-and-error method. These approaches cannot guarantee a precision tracking performance of guidance law consistently. Also, the design parameters should be redesigned with variations of vehicle maneuverability and flight velocity. Based on a vehicle kinematics with its velocity, the proposed method for designing of parameters not only minimizes the number of design parameters, also has a reliable and consistent tracking performance using variable guidance gain changed in accordance with flight velocity. This is validated by nonlinear simulation with $1^{st}$ order attitude response dynamics and flight experiments with given linear and circular path.

  • For the operation of the scramjet engine in the wide flight range, the design of the inlet must show stable performance in various flight conditions. In this study, the design methods of a 2D fixed inlet for stable performance in wide flight ranges of Mach number 4 to 6 and angle -6° to 6°, is performed. After proposing the design method and design focus, performance prediction and analysis were performed by various initial compression angles and design Mach numbers, which are essential design factors in total pressure recovery and inlet capture area ratio in the wide flight range. Based on the analysis results, we present the selection criteria for the two main design elements to represent stable performance in the wide flight range.

  • In order to ensure the individual and mutual performances among the telemetry system, tracking system, flight termination system, GPS, and inertial navigation & guidance system which are installed in the KSLV-I 2nd stage and ground equipment of the Naro space center, flight test using a light airplane is required. Since the high degree of test efficiency is fulfilled through the minute plan and analysis about selection of the equipment which are applicable to the test, harness, operation strategy, and antenna installation. KSLV-I communication environment and flight profile should be precisely taken into account during the flight test. In this document, overall aspect of the KSLV-I 2nd stage equipment specification, a rack for the installation, harness, the airplane specification, and flight route which are required for the effective flight test are presented.

  • In this study, the performance analysis method for ramjet engine system with atmospheric air disturbance was proposed. Flight path was determined to satisfy dynamic pressure constant at each flight altitude. The atmospheric air disturbance incoming into a engine intake was simulated by the model Tank proposed. The performance parameters was investigated at each flight condition with air disturbance. Engine operation stability was evaluated as analysis of the normal shock position.

  • Due to the small size and weight of micro aerial vehicle (MAV), only miniaturized MEMS type sensors are applicable for MAV autonomous flight system. In this paper, we propose a accelerometer and gyro mixing algorithm to improve an attitude performance of MEMS type sensors. The performance of the proposed mixing algorithm is compared with the performance of fuzzy-based mixing algorithm through simulation. The simulation results show that the attitude compensation method through the attitude compensation has better performance than the fuzzy-based mixing method for MAV attitude estimation.

  • 항공우주분야의 제어는 크게 항공기, 헬리콥터, 발사체, 미사일, 인공위성 등으로 비행체의 특성에 따라 크게 구분된다. 이러한 항공우주 시스템 설계시에는 다른 시스템 설계시와 동일하게 성능 요구조건을 설정한 후에 자동조정 장치를 설계하게 된다. 항공기의 경우에는 비행성과 조종성으롤 크게 구분하여 요구조건이 주어진다. 본 고에서는 항공기 비행제어에 적응제어가 어떻게 사용되었는가에 대하여 소개하였다.

  • 한국형기동헬기(Korean Utility Helicopter) 수리온이 비행 모습을 일반에 최초 공개했다. 뿐만 아니라 시험 개발기라는 사실이 무색할 정도로 뛰어난 비행성능을 과시했다. 지난 6월 22일, 경남 사천에 위치한 한국항공우주산업(주)에서 진행된 '수리온 초도비행성공 기념행사'를 통해 현재까지의 수리온 개발 경과와 향후 발전방향을 전망해 본다.

Aerodynamic Design of SUAV Flaperon (스마트무인기 플래퍼론 공력설계)

  • Smart UAV, which adopting tiltrotor aircraft concept, requires vertical take-off and landing, long endurance and high speed capability. These contradictable flight performances are hard to meet unless the operation of flap system which should reveal optimal performance for each flight mode. In order to design SUAV flaperon satisfying the three performance requirements, various configurations are generated and their aerodynamic performances are analyzed using numerical flow computations around flap systems. Considering aerodynamic performance and structural simplicity, a final flap configuration is selected and the performance is validated through the wind tunnel testing for 40% scale model.
