검토된 비파괴 검사 방법은 총 5가지 종류로 종래의 수동 초음파 검사법, 집적된 탐촉자를 이용한 3차원 초음파 검사법, NAUT(Non-contact Air-coupled Ultrasonic Test), EMAT(EletroMagnetic Acoustic Test), 그리고 너겟 프로파일러$^{TM}$이다. 이 연구에서는 각 검사법의 원리와 장단점을 설명하고 생산 라인 적용에 필요한 필수 항목들에 대해 고찰하였다.

Ultrasonic tests employing non-ionizing radiation are preferred in nondestructive examinations since they are safe and simple in use. The same principles of the techniques have been taken as valuable tools in medical area for the diagnoses of diseases, in other words, defects of the human body. The paper overviews the principles of the medical diagnosis based on nondestructive ultrasonic tests, and then evaluates experimentally the clinical potential of C scan images not popular in medicine, for detecting the micro fractures of the cortical bone. In the experiment the micro bone fractures were created on the femurs of porks by loading three point bending forces (2-4kN) with the speed of 1 mm/min. As the extent of the fracture was altered, not only X ray images but also ultrasonic C scan images using a focused ultrasonic probe resonated at 25 MHz were obtained. The results showed that ultrasonic C scan images were capable of detecting the micro bone fractures which were not possible to identify by conventional X ray images.

The joint treatment of concrete is one of the technical problems in top down construction method. Joints created with the top down construction result in serious weakness from the aspects of both structural and water-barrier function. Ultrasonic method was used for the inspection of top down construction joints of a various column in SRC structure in this study. The advantages and limitations of this method for non-destructive inspection in top down construction joints are investigated. As a result, it has been verified that the semi-direct measurement method is more effective than the other methods for detecting the voids of construction joints using ultrasonic method.
Typically nondestructive inspection methods of the large gear units are applied to penetrate non-destructive inspection. Nondestructive penetrating inspection put into the small openings of the defect to penetration liquid, remove to excess penetration liquid on the surface of the gear units, spread with developing solution and we can find the small defect by coating with penetration liquid. However, this method has so many issues because of penetrate nondestructive tests on the gear assembly. The steep angle of screw is hard to achieved full penetration and has the problem to remove the excess. In contrast, the magnetic nondestructive inspection is easy to detect subsurface defects and subtle defects. According to the inspection results the stress concentrates in gear surface, some internal defects and microscopic flaws exist on the gear units are not found to penetrate the nondestructive inspection, but magnetic nondestructive inspection could have found many defect. Therefore, a reasonable method of nondestructive inspection for the large gear units is suitable to magnetic nondestructive inspection.

Due to the great complexity of the physical phenomena involved in most ultrasonic nondestructive testing, the numerical method is effective in many cases of their theoretical modeling. A brief overview is provided in this paper of the numerical methods used in modeling ultrasonic nondestructive testing, with an emphasis on the finite difference and the finite element methods. The procedures of execution, special considerations required, and some previous research results of the finite difference and the finite element methods are presented, with a rather extensive list of work reported in the literature. These numerical modeling techniques for ultrasonic nondestructive testing are expected to be more reliable and more convenient, as a result of the continuing technological development of computers.

The usefulness and limitations of the impact-resonance method, which is a nondestructive evaluation (NDE) method for concrete, are studied by both experimental and theoretical methods. For the experimental study, several concrete slab specimens with various inclusions embedded were fabricated, and tested by the impact-resonance method. Some of the inclusions have been detected and accurately located, but some have not. The reasons for the failure in the latter cases have been investigated theoretically by using finite element analyses, from which the primary factors determining the success of the method have also been identified. This study will serve to enhance the understanding of the underlying physics and to improve the usefulness of the impact-resonance method as applied to concrete NDE.

The optical glass lens is required high dimensional precision such as the lack of defect. In this paper, we examined the detectable defect by using the resonant ultrasound spectroscopy(RUS). The RUS is the measurement system which is to excite the specimen and to inspect the differences of resonant frequency pattern between acceptable specimen and specimen which has some defects. In this paper, for nondestructive evaluation by using RUS, we measured the resonant frequency of each specimen which is spherical and aspherical glass lens. With the results, we knew the polishing processing degree of spherical glass lens by the measured resonant frequency and could evaluate the characteristic of aspherical glass lens about some flaws.

The three dimensional measuring method with minimizing operational errors for the arbitrary shaped-internal cavity based on the information of the X-ray nondestructive test is presented. Two experimental tests using artificial cavities were considered in order to verify the availity of PEVACA. In these test, X-ray NDT was conducted for detecting cavities, and the comparion between the calculating values from PEVACA and the real values from measuring the cavities was performed. As a result of this study, three dimensional cavities information using PEVACA are in good agreement with the real measured values within ${\pm}0.5mm$. The computer code, "PEVACA", contributes not only to improvement of data accuracy but also to saving of the work time and data documentation.
This study aims to detecting and analyzing the defects of damaged carbon fiber reinforced composites after impacts, particularly focusing on barely visible impact damages. The impact test was progressed by a drop-weight machine and applied to introduce simulated damages on laminated composites used in aircrafts. Various nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques were applied to identify the defects on the specimens with different levels of impact energies. Based on the measurements data, the levels of the barely visible impacts, and the applicability and effectiveness of the detection methods were discussed. Generally, the results demonstrated that their inner damages contained bigger footprints than those on the surfaces. However, when the damage energy was low, it was found that the inner damage size could be smaller than those appeared on the surfaces.
