This paper Extended ELZW(EBCDIC Lempel Ziv Welch) algorithm uses 2 byte prefix field for pointer of a table and 1 byte suffix field for repeat counter. where, a prefix field uses a pointer(index) of compression table and a suffix field uses a counter of overlapping or recursion text data in compression table. To increase compression ratio, after construction of compression table, table data are properly packed as different bit string in accordance with a alphabet, Hangeul, and pointer respectively. Therefore, proposed ELZW algorithm is superior to 1byte LZW algorithm as 5.22 percent and superior to 2byte LZW algorithm as 8.96 percent.
Intra prediction in HEVC is also significantly improved from H.264/AVC with the increased prediction modes up to 35 that results in increase of the complexity cost. Hence, a fast intra mode decision algorithm is required for real-time applications. A fast intra mode decision is proposed in this paper for further complexity reduction in addition to the RMD (Rough Mode Decision) that has been adopted into the HEVC reference software, referred to as HM, for fast intra prediction. The proposed method reduces the complexity of intra mode decision by limiting the number of search modes in both steps of RMD and the final mode decision. Experimental results show that the proposed method provide about 13.2% encoding time reduction with 1.0% BD-rate increase on average over test sequences in HM 12.0.

This paper introduces an implementation of SVC player which runs on Android platform and can play SVC video stream on line from SVC video server. SVC(Scalable Video Coding) is a scalable video encoding technique which supports three scalability such as temporal scalability, spatial scalability, and quality scalability. To implement the SVC player on Android, we implemented a SVC decoder using JSVM open source written in C/C++ as a native part on Android and developed Android UI in Java. Also we built an SVC encoding system off line and an SVC streaming server to conduct on-line SVC streaming experiments. Finally, after we installed the SVC player developed in this paper on Motoroi mobile phone, we evaluated and analyzed on-line streaming performance of the SVC player. The result showed that the player worked well and it had no jitter in streaming with the size of QCIF and 10fps from a fully encoded SVC video source.

The many DE based data hiding schemes and the many data hiding schemes based on Histogram shifting are researched in spatial domain. The data hiding scheme based on Histogram shifting have an advantage of low distortion of the stego image. But the capacity is low than other schemes. On the other hands, the DE based data hiding schemes have an advantage of high capacity. But the quality of the stego image is low. In this paper, new data hiding scheme which has the similar capacity but the increased quality of the stego image is proposed. The prediction error is divided into blocks to embed the secret data in this scheme. The prediction errors in the block are scanned before the secret data is embedded. If one prediction error is low than the threshold at least, the block is changed to embed the secret data. Otherwise the secret data is not embedded. The distortion of the stego image is minimized by this method. But the block that the secret data embedded is marked in location map. So the additional information to extract the secret data and recover the cover image is needed.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm to improve the precision of initial carrier-frequency offset estimation for multiband-OFDM (MB-OFDM) UWB system which is considering the quantization-noise effect. In the general OFDM system, the two adjacent and repeated preamble symbols are used for the initial carrier-frequency synchronization while the performance of the frequency-offset estimation is bounded by quantization effect generated from analog-to-digital conversion at the receiver. This paper proposes a method in which one-symbol interval between two adjacent preamble symbols for the initial frequency synchronization is extended to multiple-symbol interval between non-adjacent symbols in an extent that phase ambiguity does not occur. In this paper, we also present '6' as optimal multiple symbol interval for the MB-OFDM system with 30 preamble symbols on 3-band hopping and with 4-bit A/D conversion at the receiver. Under the channel environments for the MB-OFDM UWB system, the simulation results show that the proposed estimation algorithm can achieve the initial estimation in offset precision less than 5 ppm.

This paper analyzes the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) for a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system with minium mean square error receivers in multi-cell environments. A previous work in single cell environments is extended into analysis in multi-cell environments. The use of Haar unitary code matrix for asymptotic analysis causes other cell interferences expressed with a diagonal matrix haying different diagonal values. This paper shows that other cell interferences converge to an identity matrix whose gain is expressed by only other cell interference power in mean square sense and finds asymptotic deterministic SINRs for a given other cell interference. Under the assumption that the sum of lognormal fading components is distributed by other lognormal function, we show the comparison between theoretical performances and simulations from the view point of bit error rate and present average throughput performance according to the cell radius.

In this paper, we propose a new decorrelating detector called pseudo-inverse-filtering type decorrelating detector for asynchronous CDMA channels. We first show that the matched filtering and decorrelating operations of the existing decorrelating detectors can be replaced with the pseudo-inverse filtering operations in synchronous channels, and using this fact we show that the decorrelating detector has the largest SNR among the linear detectors that can eliminate MAI. Then we introduce asynchronous pseudo-inverse filtering type decorrelating detector by extending this result for asynchronous channels, and discuss implementation methods of the proposed decorrelating detectors. Since the proposed scheme employs a decentralized structure for updating coefficients, it has the flexibility to add/remove users. Finally we analyze the performance of the proposed decorrelating detector in terms of the bit error rate, and examine its performance improvements over the conventional detectors through computer simulations.

In this paper, a commercial phosphorescent white light-emitting diode (WLED) visible light communication (VLC) system with an equalization circuit to achieve the high modulation bandwidth was designed and demonstrated. An analytical method to examine the performance of the equalizer was carried out using a general circuit-simulator, PSpice. The equalization circuit was composed of two passive filters with resisters and a capacitor and an active filter with an op-amp. Utilizing our post-equalization technology, the ~3.5 MHz bandwidth of phosphor WLED could be extended to ~25 MHz without using an optical blue-filter. In this VLC system with a single round-type WLED and a single PIN photo-diode, ASK data transmission up to 35 Mbps at a 1m free space distance was obtained. The resulting bit-error-rate was $7.6{\times}10^{-4}$, which is less than the forward error correction (FEC) limit of $3.8{\times}10^{-3}$.

In this paper, we evaluate the performance of PN (Pseudo Noise) code based time hopping sequences for M-ary UWB (Ultra Wide Band) multiple access systems using the equicorrelated signal sets. In particular, we consider two different types of M-ary UWB systems in UWB indoor wireless multipath channels: The first type of the systems (System #1) has identical symbol transmission rate regardless of the number of symbols M since the length of signal pulse train is fixed while M increases, and the second type of the systems (System #2) has the same bit transmission rate regardless of M since the length of signal pulse train is extended according to the increase of M. We compare the proposed systems with those using the ideal random time hopping sequence in terms of the symbol error rate performance. Simulation results show that the PN code based time hopping sequence achieves quite good performance which is favorably comparable to that of the ideal random sequence. Moreover, as M increases, we observe that System #2 shows better robustness against multiple access interference than System # 1.

It has been shown that the performance of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) spatial multiplexing systems is significantly degraded when spatial correlation exists between transmit and receive antenna pairs. In this paper, we investigate designs of a new statistical precoder for spatial multiplexing systems with maximum likelihood (ML) receiver which requires only correlation statistics at the transmitter. Two kinds of closed-form solution precoders based on rotation and power allocation are proposed by means of maximizing the minimum E tlidean distance of joint symbol constellations. In addition, we extend our results to linear receivers for correlated channels. We provide a method which yields the same profits from the proposed precoders based on a simple zero-forcing (ZF) receiver. The simulation shows that 2dB and 8dB gains are achieved for ML and ZF systems with two transmit antennas, respectively, compared to the conventional systems.
