Development of Auto Sorting System for T Type Welding nut using A Vision Inspector (비전 검사기를 활용한 T형 용접너트 자동 선별시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed a auto sorting system for T type welding nut using a vision inspector. We used edge and thread detection with histogram of image which is captured by machine vision camera. We also used a binary morphology operation for a detection of spot. As a result we performed numeric inspection of 0.1mm accuracy. This is impossible in old sorting system and inspector with naked eye. Also, we reduced the manufacturing unit cost to 25% and improved a production efficiency to 330%.

  • In order to replace the sampling tensile test of products produced in the tab welding process, which is one of the automotive battery manufacturing processes, vision inspectors are currently being developed and used. However, the vision inspection has the problem of inspection position error and the cost of improving it. In order to solve these problems, there are recent cases of applying deep learning technology. As one such case, this paper tries to examine the usefulness of applying Faster R-CNN, one of the deep learning technologies, to existing product inspection. The images acquired through the existing vision inspection machine are used as training data and trained using the Faster R-CNN ResNet101 V1 1024x1024 model. The results of the conventional vision test and Faster R-CNN test are compared and analyzed based on the test standards of 0% non-detection and 10% over-detection. The non-detection rate is 34.5% in the conventional vision test and 0% in the Faster R-CNN test. The over-detection rate is 100% in the conventional vision test and 6.9% in Faster R-CNN. From these results, it is confirmed that deep learning technology is very useful for detecting welding error of lead tabs in automobile batteries.

  • 본 연구에서는 백라이트 유닛의 검사를 위한 머신비전 시스템을 구축한다. 시스템은 크게 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 나눌 수 있고 하드웨어는 조명부, 영상획득부, 로봇 암 제어부로 분류된다. 조명부는 36W FPL램프로 구성되었고 조명부의 상판에 아크릴판을 거치대로 이용하여 백라이트 유닛을 거치한다. 로봇 암 제어부는 2축 로봇 암을 제어하여 로봇 암의 센서부착 지지대에 부착된 CCD 센서를 이동시킨다. 이와 동시에 영상획득부에서는 이미지를 획득하여 PC로 전송한다. 소프트웨어의 화상처리 검사 알고리즘은 일정 패턴이 있는 도광판에 대한 검사 알고리즘과 일정패턴이 없근 백라이트 유닛에 대한 검사 알고리즘으로 분리된다. 일정 패턴이 인쇄되어 있는 패널에 대한 검사 알고리즘은 모폴로지 연산을 이용하는 템플릿 체크방법과 블록 매칭 방법이 사용되었고 일정패턴이 없는 유닛에 대한 검사는 개선된 Otsu 방법을 이용하여 얼룩이나 흐릿한 결함에 대한 결함을 검출하였다. 실험결과 불균일한 결함과 밝기가 일정하지 않은 결함일지라고 90% 이상의 검출율로 뛰어난 성능을 입증하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a improvement method of vision inspector for T type welding nut using an auto sorting system. We used edge and thread detection with histogram of image which is captured by machine vision camera. We also used a binary morphology operation for a detection of spot. A major problem in this vision inspector is abnormal operation caused by degradation of image acquired. These degradations caused by oil pollution on conveyer belt. For overcome this problem, we introduce a pre-processing using a masked histogram equalization on the image acquired. Histogram equalization is applied on masked region (nut part) for increase contrast. As a result, we can remove features caused by oil pollution on background and reduce a ratio of abnormal operation from 10.0 % to 0.2 %.

  • Precision screws have a wide range of industrial applications such as electrical and automotive products. To produce screw threads with high precision, not only high precision manufacturing technology but also reliable measurement technology is required. Machine vision systems have been used in the automatic inspection of screw threads based on backlight illumination, which cannot detect defects on the thread surface. Recently, an omnidirectional inspection system for screw threads was developed to obtain $360^{\circ}$ images of screws, based on front light illumination. In this study, the illumination design for the omnidirectional inspection system was modified by adding a light shield to improve the image uniformity. Optical simulation for various shield designs was performed to analyze image uniformity of the obtained images. The simulation results were analyzed statistically using response surface method, from which optical performance of the omnidirectional inspection system could be optimized in terms of image quality and uniformity.

  • The non-destructive testing equipment using an eddy current was developed to check for defect in the vehicle transmission component. A defect master sample was made to test all types of defects that occur in the component and also an eddy current detector was manufactured and used to test and detect all kinds of defects. In addition, testing was held against the actual defective items to investigate the cause and type of defects, and a comparative study was conducted based on results from the examination. The software system of the eddy current detector was developed so that even a non-specialist can make assessment of detect in the component from the test results displayed on the monitor.

  • In this paper, we develop a vision inspection system for inspecting flaws on plastic products such as insufficient moldings, spots, scratches. The inspection algorithm for this system consist of image binarization for curved structure of plastic products, image noise removal using morphology operation, labeling methods for candidate regions and image filtering and calibration method for flaw inspection. In order to improve its performance, we also develop fast image processing algorithm based on GUI. To verify the effectiveness of this system, we conducted evaluation for the system accuracy and the inspection algorithm processing time.

  • Recent trends for the miniaturization and weight reduction of portable electronic parts is the use of subminiature components. Assembly of the miniaturized components requires subminiature screws of which pitch sizes are in a micrometer scale. To produce such a subminiature screw with high precision threads, not only a precision forming technology but also high-precision measurement technique is required. In the present work, a vision inspection system is developed to measure the thread profile of a subminiature screw. Optical simulation based on a ray tracing method is used to design and analyze the optical system of the vision inspection apparatus. Through this simulation, optical performance of the developed vision inspection system is optimized. The image processing algorithm for the precision screw inspection is also discussed.
