Based on the self-determination theory, this thesis paper analyzed the motivation of charity impulse on non-profit organizations which is the main factor influencing the donation loyalty with consumer-nonprofit identification as parametric variables. According to this study, it seems that the charity impulse caused by the concepts of autonomy of the self-determination theory has negative influence on consumer-nonprofit identification, donation loyalty. But relation-competence has positive influence to nonprofit organizations. Considering without any studies on donators' motivation of charity impulse from the aspect of psychology to non-profit organizations, as the very initial exploratory study, this study is conducted to analyze the possible factors to influence customers' motivation of chanty impulse on the basis of the self-determination theory so that it has a vital significance, which can furnish fundamental data to charitable organizations to carry out effective marketing strategies to guarantee the source of the money collection.

  • This study aims to examine the influence of the philanthropic experience on the giving intention. There are many precedent studies arguing this influence but the empirical results are mixed or sometimes contradictory. We stipulate that this could be resolved by introducing the mediating variables such as trust and positive attitudes towards NGOs. Results of the empirical analysis based on the 189 person living in Seoul area show that philanthropic experience directly influence the giving intention, and it exert an influence on the giving intention directly through the trust and positive attitudes towards NGOs. And it is shown that the indirect effect produced by the mediating variables and process in less than the direct effect. Results support precedent studies emphasizing the important role of the philanthropic experience in the giving intention, and shed light on the process through which philanthropic experience determines the giving intention. A practical implication might be that we have to do a great effort to experience philanthropic activities in one's early age, and a theoretical implication be that researchers need to pay attention to find another mediating variables having explanatory power.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and stigma of children and adolescents, and the message types for them in NPO's fundraising advertisement videos in Korea. The subjects are 152 children and adolescents in 147 videos from seven major non-profit organizations. The analysis tools were constructed based on prior studies, and it was carried out after preliminary study. The results are as follows. First, the characteristics of children and adolescents indicated that the ratio of children and infants, main-role, poverty situation, one-parent family, and ward-role appeared the most. Second, 'general' was the highest in the stigma format, and 'hazard' and 'mark' was high in the challenge format. Third, the stigma message was the highest in message type. Finally, as of 2014, the ratio of stigma message and value-exclusion message increased, and the ratio of challenge message and mixed message decreased. The research suggests that a paradigm shift in the format of NPO's typical fundraising advertisement videos is necessary, as the videos may not protect the human rights of children and adolescents and may have negative effects such as stigma.

  • Through the evolutionary process of the North Korean defector support policies, this research investigates the background behind the formation of non-profit organizations for the North Korean defectors and to identify and understand the problem through their characteristics and functions. Starting from 1990, with an increase in the North Korean Defectors' population as well as the introduction of multicultural society, various environmental factors, such as the domestic socio-environmental changes, resulted an increase in number of private organizations. However, not to mention the size and functions of the organizations, some do not even have required legal organizational structures in place. Their business activities, in some cases, are irrelevant to the original purpose and objectives. Moreover, the fact that 83% of the North Korean Defectors Organizations are based in Seoul while 25.5% of the North Korean Defector residing in Seoul, inevitably make the reputation of the organizations to be illegal and dishonest due to the excessive level of competitions among the similar types of organizations. In reality, the organizations show lack of growth in the areas such as securing necessary employments to the Defectors or providing educations to the youth, who will eventually become the future leaders, in building the awareness capacity toward the unification. These results show that, in conducting their activities, the organizations must be aware of the rights and responsibilities as the constituents of the society, plus the government's practical efforts in improving these issues are also necessary.

To examine the factors which affect the performance of nonprofit performing arts organizations such as external environment, cultural capital, orchestra characters and government grants, this study analyzed the data of 990 tax forms of the US Internal Revenue Service(IRS) of the top 73 symphony orchestras and government sources in USA. Independent variables are measured as sponsorship amount which is the biggest part of orchestras' income, and ticket sales which is profit of inherent business purpose. As a result, the performance of the orchestra is affected positively by the income and influenced by the orchestras' characteristics including age, size, and conductor. Also government grants to the orchestras are essential for organizations to sustain their business. But, there are two different sides on these effects that small to medium groups are influenced by crowding in effect and bigger groups are more likely conducted by business overview. Lastly, cultural capital is no significant relationships to orchestras' management performances. This scope of the study is limited to American symphony orchestras; however, this study is significant in that empirical analysis on nonprofit performing arts organizations from an economic view point and contribute on other nonprofit arts organizations to develop their strategic plan for sustainable business.
